All these "reality" TV shows are staged to an extent. The prod will usually encourage encounters or interactions between certain people more than others. Most of the time they just try to force situations so something can happen on camera. While the cast doesn't really have a text to learn they sometimes have directions such as "talk to this person", "go do that", etc.
While it can make you doubt how real all the situations you're watching actually are, everyone should just consider it entertainment and nothing else. You have to keep in mind that the whole thing is cut and edited so much that some stuff doesn't always make sense. This is because they need to respect the 1h runtime for each episode while doing their best to keep the show as entertaining as possible.
That being said, this doesn't mean that there is no truth to these shows, this is not unusual for the cast to date each other in real life after it ended.
This is basically Shin Hye Sun's masterclass. She really is amazing in this and makes it worth a watch just by her performance. The entire cast is great, even though I prefer Ahn Bo Hyun in different roles and it felt a bit weird to see him there.
The story is interesting but it does try to confuse you a bit too much imho. The passed lives are probably not exploited enough but it was a nice touch, made some good scenes and cool visuals. The amnesia, while it would make sense in such situation, isn't used very well and the ending feels a bit rushed. I would still strongly recommend this drama as it does a lot of things very well, and you might easily forgive its downsides.
So you mean not bad = 8,5 (which basically means very good or great)?
Thank you for reacting and sharing your thoughts on this aspect. it could be easily fixed if kisskh tried to change or add more details to this rating system. Having something like 90-95% of the drama between 7 and 9.5 is just so confusing and misleading to the point where you just cannot trust it. I have tried reaching out multiple times about this issue but haven been unsuccessful so far. The rating logic on MyAnimeList seems to reflect the normal scale that everyone should use.
Unless you're into dumb action scenes and imported cars, there isn't much to see here. A shame considering the potential of the show... But the great bromance and visuals aren't enough to save it. Some can probably be explained by the last minute changes due to Kim Sae Ron's scandal.
Not your typical romantic comedy. This was a really interesting watch as it tried to portray issues that are usually ignored by Movies and Drama. They tried to do things differently and the twist will change your entire perception of the movie. Definitely not for everyone though, especially not for people who just expect all romantic comedies to play out and end the same way.
So you mean not bad = 8,5 (which basically means very good or great)?
It seems that I wasn't clear about my issue. What I tried to describe is not related to people's taste but more to the way they decide to rate the drama they like/dislike.
8+ shouldn't be decent, it should be a lot more than that. Not using the full scale directly influence the global rating and you lose the nuance. This also means that a drama WILL be rated higher because of the people that do not know how to use the scale properly.
But to be clear it has nothing to do with how I can dislike something that had a good rating or the other way around. I am pointing out the fact that too many people fail to use the rating the way it should be used.
If most people that rate something they love give a 9 or a 10 out of 10, and if at the same time people that dislike it (or feel bored/disappointed/whatever feeling that is mostly negative) rate it a 7 or an 8... then it's only logical that you end up with a rating between 7.5 and 10. You end up with most dramas being around there, and this makes it extremely difficult to know what is worth watching based on the ratings.
Now if you believe that something is "good", it makes sense to rate it anything between 7 and 8. But you can't consider 8 the medium if the medium is 5 out of 10. You are getting rid of most of the options, making the rating irrelevant.
So many people complain about what they consider to be bad dramas while still rating those 7 or 8, this is non sense and this is what I am trying to explain.
Good comedy and a stellar cast makes this drama worth a watch despites its flaws. This could have been much better with some parts off and a more focused plotline.
Still the ending answers all the questions and you get full closure.
watch this without skipping any. then you will feel it
Actually I already finished it, and I don't skip scenes when I watch something otherwise I feel like I cannot get into it as much as I should. I believe it's important to watch something the way it is supposed to be watched. I don't really understand people who skip scenes as they could just watch the best clips of the movie/drama.
Either way I stand by what I said, I feel like they missed the mark.
So you mean not bad = 8,5 (which basically means very good or great)?
It's actually a big issue on the platform so you're not the only one that does it haha
Bear with me, the problem is that most people rate from 7 or 8 to 10 while the scale is supposed to start at 1, with 5 being medium. You can't just ignore the 1 to 6 and have 7 (70%) being bad, then 8 being medium and so on. We end up with most drama being around 70-85%, which makes it extremely difficult to find the really good ones.
Please use the entire scale so it gives a better idea of what your opinion is, and the general rating will make more sense as well.
Amazing start but fell flat. From the moment the main female character changed her entire personality it felt weird. Main male character was uninteresting and annoying most of the show. I am usually into slow burns and character driven stories but it can only work if your main characters are interesting enough. Not everything can be like My Mister, but this could have been much better.
No need to insult the actor though, he played his part and it's not like there was much to add anything to it. Most characters were one dimension and this is mostly because of how badly written it was. This is a short drama but they tried to introduce way too many characters which means they didn't have time to explore or build them.
Of course you can dislike someone's performance or even dislike them as an actor/actress, but there are different ways to say it without being disrespectful.
What draws you to a series? An actor/actress or a storyline? I'm struggling on whether to watch this or not. I…
It is dark and violent. If it's not your thing then I don't think you should watch it. It doesn't matter how much you like an actor/actress in the end, even though it can be tempting to watch something just because of that. There are so many good drama out there and so little time to watch that you will never be able to watch everything. I strongly recommend you to stick to what entertains you and make you feel good instead.
What's the vibe in this? Not sure if I should jump in because I am not really feeling the title and subject matter.
It's dark and it takes itself very seriously. There isn't much time for character development and this is focused on action. If you are a fan of the cast or over the top action shows/movies then you might like it.
Cool setting and characters with a great cast. Unfortunately the writing is terrible and not much of the story makes sense... If you turn your brain off you might enjoy the action scenes.
Wasted potential. This drama is so confusing as some parts are well crafted and a few ideas are great. But it also fails in so many aspects that it might make you frustrated. This is extremely difficult to watch at times because of how poorly written it is. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.
In my heart-of-hearts, I want to believe that it is Chairman Cha. But, probably not since they had an earlier…
During the last encounter it is implied that they didn't have such relationship though. At some point she is asking him when she started becoming his weakness, which leads to a flashback.
A lot happened in the first 8 episodes actually, not everything requires a full on action, it’s the planning…
I was able to finish the first 8 episodes and I really don't understand how people could consider that "nothing happened" there. It looks like many are confused because it is sort of a slow burn, and they feel like nothing happened while we had two potentiel murders, and people going crazy from all sides.
Also agree on the fact that we need to wait for the second part to see if it's all worth it in the end. But the way the story is building tension is good so far. Let's hope they don't mess it up.
I am genuinely confused by people like you as you seem to imply the show is below average but still rated it a…
I mean the fact you are replying something like that is more embarassing for you than anyone else. You first complained about not understanding why shows like this one were what you consider oveerrated. Then you implied it was boring as nothing happened and rated it 7, which is the equivalent of good. I did try to explain it to you, again if people that like it rate it a 10 or a 9, and if at the same time people who find it boring rate it a 7, guess what is going to be the average? You can see it on the page if you can't guess it. There is a reason why these shows are rated so high, and you can understand it with very basic logic. From then you talked about "your" average which is non sense because there is a scale that is supposed to represent your rating. Just to be clear, the issue is not your rating, it's that you are being incoherent but still felt the need to complain about the rating. Also I did not see the drama yet, but please keep on trying to discredit me by being condescending, like it makes you more right about this 😂
