I've wondered if the latent maternal instinct might be involved. If some Lesbians feel a protectiveness, interest in, motherly, nurturing thing toward young gay boys struggling with coming-out issues. I'm thinking that's likely true for the average straight fujoshi, but what about gay women too? Think that's a possible factor?

If you think you're going off my comments with this, then you can't read very well. Why would you think I identify with YJ's character any more than I would with his step-brother? Why with either one of them at all? I simply want there to be room for any kind of story to be told and that includes stories featuring any form of SEX as a prominent plot point.

I have a serious question for you and will put aside my snark, insult and smart-ass hoses for a bit to ask it. I have asked the same question and discussed the topic with a few other women. I have SIX friends here on MDL who tell me they are Lesbians and they love BL. You appear to be in that same category.

Do you have any theory or thoughts about, given that you ARE a gay woman, what it would be that makes you so interested/fascinated/intrigued/turned-on/whatever in or by the Boys Love genre? And please don't think I'm implying you owe ANYONE an explanation or justification because I feel strongly that you do NOT owe anyone any such thing. But that doesn't mean it's not an interesting topic ripe for discussion.

I'm intrigued mainly by the number of gay women who like BL. I am a gay man and I have zero specific interest in Lesbian literature, erotica, porn, movies, etc. at all. I hope that doesn't make me a bad person; I just don't. If a Lesbian romance or sex is part of some overall plot about something else, sure that's great and I'm with you on that, but I have no interest in seeking out specific forms of story-telling in which Lesbian sex and relationships ar e the focus. And yet I see all these Lesbians who love BL...so I think..."why?"

Any thoughts? I have a couple of theories but thought I'd wait to hear what you think before throwing in my two cents.

I think I asked before, but didn't get a reply, so I'll try again: Are you employed by some kind of Filipino BL Consortium and paid to comment and put the best possible spin on every Pinoy BL? It's cool if you are, I'd just like to know what it is that drives you to watch all these terrible productions all the way through to each bitter end. I give you credit for not trying to pretend that everything about these shows is wonderful, but even so you pretend a LOT of really poor-quality work is OK, or even to be recommended. Thoughts?

omg. Ten minutes into the first episode and I'm done Dropping. This is terrible. Like bad high-school drama terrible. It just has that bad-acting/bad-directing/bad production trifecta vibe going that is only going to get more annoying the longer it goes. So people produce a thing like this, watch the finished episode, and then say "oh yeah, that's great, let's air that?" Then those people are on drugs.

What is it about Pinoy BLs that there are SO many bad ones and so few good? It's not as though there aren't 500 successful BLs now that they could look at to get a feel for what works. Yikes. I went ahead and paid for ThaiBLFan92 at Patreon for $5.00 PER MONTH, not per episode. As a subscriber you get access to all the shows he has subbed plus promotional videos/etc. so seriously, that is 20 cents per day for access to a lot more BL. And I don't think this guy is out of line at all to ask that much for all the time and effort required to subtitle all those shows. His subtitles are good too, and he subs EVERYTHING: background songs, signs, phone texts, everything. This show is not that great and I think $5 is well-worth seeing the rest of even this dumb thing. I don't get the bitching about someone asking to be pad for their hard work. As another commenter wrote below: English subtitles are not a human right. lol

BRAVO. Don't, however, think for a second that you got through to any of these "piss babies." (love your term.)
