Damn. I'm going to run out of BLs to watch, as I'll be dropping this one too. Trope city. Cliche town. Every guy is gay, the director and his wife in this traditional village in the sticks are surprisingly gay-friendly and the pan pipe is driving me insane. But then the director's son, who was openly flirting with the new teacher, apparently has an ex-girlfriend so I guess he's bi. The teacher wants privacy to bathe so no one will see his weenie but then leaves on his undies. I doubt I'm the first to say this feels like a dumbed-down version of TOATS.

Decided to delete my long-winded explanation of what I don't care for in this series and why I dropped it after three eps, but I did a lousy job of stating my case. So suffice it to say that "Stuck On You" is just not my thing and I'll leave it at that. :)

To the many of you who like this series: Enjoy! :D

This screams internalized homophobia idk. To me it seems as if Reb is comfortable and 100% him when he is alone…
The point I was trying to make is a very difficult one to explain. I get what you are saying and I thank you for your reply, but I feel like I didn't do a good job of defining the problems I have with this series because your comment is reacting to something slightly different than what I'm trying to say. I'll probably take my comment down, as I do NOT have a general problem with effeminate gay men; as demonstrated by my affection for Maximo Oliveros, but for a certain stereotypical style of performative mannerisms that many fem gays adopt as a personae.

I have watched a lot of Pinoy gay series and films and it seems I very often see much more in the way of fem gays, drag queens, trans women, transvestites, etc. than I do in work from other Asian countries. So it's been my impression that those categories of LGBTQ people are MORE free to be themselves than elsewhere. That is NOT the case, correct?

If the Marilyn Monroe act we saw in Reb's room is 100% him, then why would he change into someone else when he's outside his door? 100% of one thing leaves 0% room for anything else.

Why are you referring to Reb as a “drag queen”. Not only is it not even implied that he does drag, he’s…
I didn't talk about stereotypical 'masc' characters because I was talking about Reb, who is not one, and who DID do the drag queen act at the beginning of the series, a scene in which he played a stereotype.

No, I agree, the series did not make you sex-phobic, angry and bitter; you were already those things. This series just brought those qualities, along with you, out from under your rock.

Your comment is about as perfect an example of the hysterical Social Justice Warrior in action as it could possibly be. You and your way of thinking is simple, old-fashioned Puritanical, sex-phobic, prudery, resentment, anger, bitterness and hatefulness all tied together and dressed up in new clothes for the 2020s. lol You're a tight-ass old church lady and don't even know it. lol

Social Justice Warrior Buzz-words in your comment (you left out a LOT of the favorites, but these three give you away):
ROMANTICIZED
TOXIC
PROBLEMATIC
Next time try to fit in more of the other stand-by's, OK?

I love this series - so well written and acted. Especially given the limited setting, the cinematography is great.…
We definitely part ways on this one. To me the script was written from a specific brand of Pinoy BL checklist, in which social issues, identities and gay-centric subject matter are required to be addressed with all the preachy subtlety of a gay pride parade's biggest drag queen float.

Specifically because just lately I went back to a BL I initially disliked and gave it another shot and found to my surprise that I liked it very much, I stuck with this one far longer than I otherwise would have, but 90 minutes of this pretentious, highly unlikely banter in an already-cliched setting is as far as I can go.

I am happy that you and many others are enjoying the show!

"Once a cheater, always a cheater."

Could you please tell me from where you gathered this sage conclusion? Did you do a meticulous survey of former cheaters to see what percentage repeated their offense? Did You look up some studies of the same online to see what they said? Have multiple people cheated on you while you were in relationship and you took them back and they cheated again and again? Or is this just some silly slogan you picked up in comments here and feel the need to repeat in an effort to support your view of people and the world in the broad range of colors known as black and white?

Just dropped my rating to 4.5. This show has become objectively terrible.

Jin has devolved into what, in my younger days, we would have called "a little bitch." He's cranky, rude, boring, sneaky, flirtatious but closeted, and as far as I can tell, has no ass. Why are all these gay dudes so enthralled with him? What a jerk, the way he had Bbomb give him a ride to the nightclub but doesn't invite him in. I don't find it believable that either Bbomb or the other cute guy would be interested; he's an uninteresting mess. He also seems to be an alcoholic. There is no in-between with this guy. He's either wasted and puking or completely sober.

Side-couples, dialogue among side-characters, pacing, script, acting, jesus, it's all terrible. Jack and Singh are cute and fun but they can't carry the show on their own. Nor can Sister and his side-kick Bam.

The whole thing with the gang drugging Bbomb with an aphrodisiac and planting a condom was just bizarre. I'm all for transgressive behavior, but that was out of left field and then...the drug seemed to have zero effect on Bbomb's horniness factor. I guess he told Jin not to move because he'd feel his boner, but that was it. Just lame writing and direction. Nothing seems to really go anywhere.

Oh, and "I have to pee, can I sleep in your room?" That is a new seduction line I've never heard. And why was Jeam teary-eyed on Ball's bed? Thinking about how he'd feel sitting in jail after he rapes Ball? Just all kinds of odd things that go nowhere. Whole show feels like it has no purpose, as if the makers are just filling time to fulfill a contract.

Maybe I'll downgrade that 4.5 rating I gave it.

To me, it got much, much better after I toned down my expectations and relaxed. There are moments that made me laugh out loud as well as tear up. Worth a shot...

I'm curious as to why the totality of the trope/cliche/fluff/predictable writing and plot don't annoy you at least…
I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I just don't get it.

I used to have a mother-in-law who read those cheap, short, trashy romance novels they called "bodice-rippers." The plots were formulaic, repetitive and predictable. She said that's what she liked about them She said she didn't have to THINK while she read them. I thought "how do you read a novel and not THINK? Isn't spurring your brain to think the whole purpose of art and entertainment?" Doesn't your brain form pictures and images as you read?

Not sure what you mean by "romance dramas," but there are thousands of dramas out there in which romance is a primary plot point that do NOT merely repeat in sequence the plot points of other romantic dramas. Why not just watch the same series over and over and over again?
