~~It's got popular in China & Taiwan after the stepbrothers scenes. Yes..the scenes people mostly criticize for…
The people in the international audience who bitch and moan and want to censor the juicy stuff, are NOT the majority of the audience. They are merely the most vocal and aggressive in comments. Most INTL viewers love the step-brother plot and are as drawn in as are the Chinese and Taiwanese, they just don't want to waste their time and effort to argue with the SJWs and PC Sex Police in comments here like I do. lol :D
It's interesting because I think of the Chinese and Taiwanese societies as being more sexually conservative and censorious than most of the developed world, but my time in comments here has me wondering...
Super mixed reaction to this show so far. The rape scene was terrible and extremely unnecessary. They should've…
You need to put a spoiler warning on your comment. The step-brother situation is the most intense and dramatically gripping part of the story, whether you approve of specific actions or not. The scene at the hotel HAD to be included to tell this story. If you're talking about censoring it because of some audience members' delicate feelings, the show makers obviously went a different direction, thank goodness. We have enough censors in Mainland China without adding more elsewhere.
can anyone plz tell me why Xing Si was crying in the last scene in 8 ep? I just can't understand why! I was a…
I was thinking about that later after watching and I'm feeling like XS may simply be emotionally overwhelmed by all that is happening and has happened. He has long loved XS in a romantic way but lived with that in secret. Now he knows that feeling is returned in spades. Then we had the intense episode at the hotel, followed by the next morning's regret and panic and the confrontation between the two. Then we had the younger brother's OTT declaration of WHY and HOW he loves XS, in the dramatic scene on the ledge of the building. Then XS spent much of the evening holding YJ's hand while he slept and spent the rest of the night at the house. Then, because unfortunately YJ is unstable, he immediately went into encouraging/pushing XS to move back home (which would be a disaster), all while the dad walked around them there at the apartment and the mom was cooking and telling them to hurry up and, and...I think he just kind of lost it.
XS is a very professional and able wedding planner who does his job well and people like him. He's smart and educated and successful. In that regard he is very much an adult. But he has held this dark secret of his love for YJ in his heart all alone for so many years and now everything is bursting out into the light and there is so very much to absorb all at once, and I think the innocent child in him is very frightened. So he cried...and that's OK. More people should cry when they need to. The problem is that the parents were going to wonder what the hell was going on, so YJ sort of hilariously and coldly shoved him into the bathroom to cry it out while he kept the parents distracted at the table. It seemed callous of YJ to do that in the moment, but maybe that was the best choice. To stay in the bathroom and comfort XS, which would be my instinct, would only bring more questions and prying from the parents, and the guys aren't ready to face that yet.
You know, writing ignorant sex-phobic opinions in ALL CAPS does not make them any more valid than when presented…
I by no means think the USA should be everyone's moral star, nor did I say so. What you don't seem to grasp is that WITHIN the USA there are a thousand different opinions on these topics, which is why as much as possible it is best to let the individuals involved in a situation make these decisions for themselves without the stupidity and judgementalism of bigots having any say whatsoever in the matter.
You know, writing ignorant sex-phobic opinions in ALL CAPS does not make them any more valid than when presented…
The woman directly said that my son and daughter in law's relationship is not acceptable. She's an asshole and I have no problem calling her one. We're not arguing about just a show. We're arguing about a social issue that effects millions of people all over the world. Her bigotry deserves to be called out. So I called it out.
Why would anyone care about third or fourth cousins getting married? That's ridiculous.
You know, writing ignorant sex-phobic opinions in ALL CAPS does not make them any more valid than when presented…
I'll ignore the stupid remark that I "shared my life story" and go right to the heart of it: Can you explain to the class how procreation between two people who are not blood-related could possibly have any genetic consequences at all? Thanks, we'll wait...
You know, writing ignorant sex-phobic opinions in ALL CAPS does not make them any more valid than when presented…
lol Forgive me for not checking the watch status every ten minutes. Is there somewhere in the world where it should be a problem of some kind for non-blood related siblings to have a relationship? Is there somewhere it's a good idea for people from outside the relationship to butt in? I LOVE the mother in the situation. NO judgment, just acceptance and hope for them to be happy.
I'm not even convinced this particular couple should be together, even though they obviously deeply love each other, because it is apparent there is a significant degree of psychological and emotional turmoil going on. I would want them to investigate with a therapist whether or not the younger brother's romantic love for his older step-brother is sufficiently distinct from the love he feels for him based on gratitude as his protector and for welcoming him into his family ten years ago.
It is the above commenter's self-righteous declaration that this relationship is "morally wrong" for everyone, everywhere because, well, it makes them feel icky, so that's why.
TL;DR: THE YOUNG STEPBROTHER RAPES THE OLDER ONE. THIS IS A PURPOSEFUL PLANNED RAPE, IT IS NOT ROMANTIC AND ANYBODY…
You know, writing ignorant sex-phobic opinions in ALL CAPS does not make them any more valid than when presented in small case.
My son is 35 years old. He is married to his 31 year-old step-sister by way of my ex-wife's second marriage. They've been married about 8 years and lived together as a couple for two years before that. They have a relationship most married people would envy. Their romantic relationship evolved during their law school/undergrad years. What narrow-minded, stupid, self-righteous scolds like you think of them as a couple is of no concern whatsoever to any of us or to anyone in the town where they live. It really is only uptight, prudish weirdos like you with major hangups about sex who find anything at all wrong with it, let alone would presume to say anything, in the first place.
I love this series for many reasons. That it drives you to the brink of ALL-CAPS madness with its anti-PC, gray-area human relationship story-line messiness is icing on the cake.
Probably...and to our great benefit, the writer made a great decision. This show rocks.
I'm actually just fine. How about you?
I'm not defending rape, but you already know that. I am defending the fictional representation of gray-area sexual scenarios in opposition to sex-phobic puritan prudes such as yourself. And I don't agree that this is rape to begin with, so how would I be defending it? And...you DO understand that this is a fictional series, not found footage of actual events, right?
And no, I'm not "literally" (lol) under every comment. Not even close. :D
I am a guy and much older than you think. Things like this happens in real life and some people do NOT go to the police for many different reasons, and you have no right to dictate to people how they should respond emotionally or psychologically to any given situation. That is THEIR issue, not yours.
Human beings have fantasies they would never, ever want to happen in real life. It happens every day. Why do you think people love to read, watch, and listen to stories with very dark themes. Game of Thrones is gigantically successful world-wide and contains lots of rape, incest, adultery, murder and anything else you can think of. Do you believe crime rates jump every time an episode of that show is aired?
Calling people who find illegal things hard to watch "fandom puritans" is rude don't you think? If you watch this…
Well-said. I've been meaning to mention the subject of human sexual fantasies. MANY, maybe MOST people have sexual fantasies about scenarios they would never in a million years seek out or wish to experience IRL. Sexual content in entertainment media has for eons allowed us to vicariously have those experiences through the characters we follow in stories.
The sex-phobics on this chat board are likely watching this series on their laptops with their pants around their ankles.
