The premise is really cute. I guess? But was it executed properly? That’s a no.A highlight of the series is…
I think I saw something in the translations in the first or second episode (if they’re correct, idk) that niti means law. So I assume that nitiman means ‘’the law guy‘’, or the guy studying at the law faculty or something like that.
It isn’t the first time I have seen questionable stories in Thai series. But it is the first time I am genuinely mad about one. I have reached the end of episode 3 and all I see is an obsessed homosexual trying to get it on with a straight guy that is clearly uncomfortable by it. AND also annoyed because friends are pushing him into a certain direction that he clearly isn’t interested in.
I guess pretty soon Jin all of the sudden and out of nowhere realizes he does have feelings for him, which is the uttermost bs thing to actually happen after seeing how uncomfortable he was.
Someone below said something about this giving a tharntype vibe.. Yeah, fitting.
I enjoyed it. Not entirely sure if a second season is necessary. The final episode feels like a good ending to me. I love how they incorporated socially difficult topics! Sometimes very clear and sometimes very subtle. Homosexuality, the overseas adoptions, suicide.
I've put it on hold. I probably have the unpopular opinion here but I find Song Kang's acting so bloody dull. That pretty face doesn't even save it for me. In Sweet Home it wasn't always a problem because he needed to play this depressed loner kid. But even then I found his acting lacking. In this series I see similarities with his role in Sweet Home and that is not good. And when he does portray emotion, I find it weak. Not sure if that changes later on in the episodes, but I don't think I am going to find out. I do compliment him on his dancing though. That looked good.
The cast was great. Absolutely every actor did a good job. Choi Soo Young as Seo Dan Ah nailed it the most. But I don't think I have ever felt this strong that it is obvious that a series was cut short. Episodes between the charity event and the ending were missing. Such a shame.
Final confrontation between father and son (and his girlfriend)? Father and daughter? More on the elections? Seo Dan Ah and her brothers and the company? Gay character and his mother? May being mostly left out of the final episode? More accomplishments of Woo Shik?
It was like all of it was rushed in one final episode.
The comedy throws me off. I usually have that with Korean dramas. For me it is messing up the tone and clashing with the serious storyline. Dropped it after ep 3.
I'm okay with the love triangle for now, but they gotta finish it up in the next two episodes or so. I seriously need to see some badass vibes from our girl against her old highschool bullies. They haven't wrapped that up yet. And I really really really hope we're not going to see her current best friend become jealous of the relationship developing. We have seen that stuff enough already in other dramas. Besides, Soo Jin seems to be too smart for that.
Edit; oh shit, just saw the preview for ep 9. Did I talk too soon? Uhg.
The issue I have with these timeskips is that the parts with the grown ups are usually too short for me to become emotionally attached to them. I imagine it is for actors very difficult as well to actually portray such an emotional bond with that short amount of time/scenes you have. The more attached you become to their bond, the happier you will be with an ending with them together in some sort of way. But I wasn't.
It is just so small compared the younger versions. I'm no expert but wouldn't it be safe to say that spending months with your counterpart, and actually bond together as actors, will show the right chemistry? The adults didn't have it. And I'm left with a feeling of disappointment. But at the same time that might be the right feeling as both of them threw away so many years to be together. It could be on purpose.
The choice of ending the movie with either the adults or the younger ones was a choice between a good or a sad ending. And even though we saw a glimpse of the younger ones at the end with the guitar in the streets of Montreal, it was just not enough to take away the disappointment and sadness. Yes, it felt bitter bitter bitter and a tiny 'bit of sweet.
If I'm reconstructing the ending in my head.. If you would've had a simple transission from old to young right at the moment the shoulder taps were given, and the scenes after that would've been played by the younger actors (we would know they were actually adults already). this would feel more like a sweet ending.
But definitely a beautiful movie. Gotta rewatch it again with the scenes that were cut.
I'm kind of all over the place with the final episode. What the.. The gangster guy that was the monster: where did that rampage come from all of the sudden. Is that in the webtoon too? It felt so out of place. The death of the woman outside with asthma.. There was absolutely no scene of the older guy with the glasses griefing of some sort? And the firelady? What kind of deal did she make? Suddenly in a new outfit at the end. It looked like she was working for them all along but that doesn't fit with her doubts alarming them with that signal thing. Or was her main objective to retrieve that little suitcase? And where the hell did that dog come from down in the tunnels? And I'm really confused on whether our main guy actually lost his memories or just emotionless. He had them back in the tank?
I wouldn't call it bad at all.. I liked it and have binged it but I don't know..
I kind of feel the show is in conflict with itself on its seriousness sometimes. The CGI and lack of a 'bit more horror could be the cause of that. The story is there, sort of, with a couple of holes. We've got some weird monsters. We've got some hella dangerous characters. And plenty of blood even though the really disgusting things are being left out. But it's just not scary even though it feels like it is trying to be. I got some goosebumbs when our main character jumped down a couple of floors and broke his leg but that's about it.
It could've been more Resident Evil ya know. For sure enjoyable though.
Gotta say... I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! INSANE!(Below spoiler, don't open it if you haven't seen it yet)
But I do have conflicting feelings about the death of his friends all at once though.. That was such a huge shock. I didn't imagine the writer would do such a thing. This feeling of being mind blown is something I haven't had since Game of Thrones. It for sure let you know that NO ONE is save and anyone could die any second in the series. I kinda liked the surprise.
However.. That message could have been clear with just Chouta's death too. Karube's death would've fit later on at the hearts game at the beach too. I mean, I could see a huge storyline of Karube and Aguni vs Arisu. But yeah, this feeling probably comes from the fact that I enjoyed Machida Keita's acting. That guy is great.
I know I would love a second season.. But honestly, if it stays by just one I would be fine with it. The ending is great.
Their story could go both ways. And both ways are realistic. Based on wat I've experienced myself, I would say this isn't going to work out in the end. Please director, surprise me with the second season if there is one.

Dropped it.
But just because of his voice I kept watching. That voice! My god. Pure (fill in the dots)!

I'm really confused.
