On Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo Oct 26, 2024
I like the series so far. The plot is interesting, the main actors are great. I didn't think it would be Lee Seon's first series. He has a great charisma. Nevertheless, episode 4 left me with some questions and I just hope they can be answered satisfactorily in the next episodes. A 12 year time jump... I don't know, so far I have no explanation as to what this contributes to the plot. I'll only form my opinion at the end of the series, but I really hope that the next episodes will turn the promising beginning into a successful ending...

Yes, that really is a huge success. We can't thank CHD enough for how much effort he has put in and how well our community seems to be working to connect us and spread the word about the petition.

It's crazy that it's already been a month... I miss them so badly

I think the ratings that really matter are IMDB ratings (since these are the one Patrick Liu referred to and mentioned…
Yes, I only have my account because of that, but I've had it since September. It really made me curious as to why the series hardly increases its rating. I kept some observations to myself until people interested in the series stayed on the site, as this could also be used in a negative way...

The forum post is older and the formula has certainly been adjusted somewhat, but the basic structure of the algorithm seems to have remained similar. Let's see if I can still get everything together...

The value of a user's own vote seems to depend on the age of the account, the number of ratings submitted, and also how many ratings have been submitted. In other words, the older the account, if you have given several ratings and have not given the majority/all other ratings very poorly, you will be rated as a "real/more important" user. Since there are apparently people who devalue competing series so that theirs is better off, such accounts are not weighted as heavily. It is therefore better to rate series and films that you like and if the account is new/young, it is particularly important to rate several, as the age of the account is taken into account in the weighting.

In addition, a certain percentage (in the forum it was said to be around 10%) seems to be deducted from the best and worst votes in order to prevent possible active up- and down-voting...

As I said, the formula for the calculation has not been public for years, but the people from the forum seemed to be quite fit and also provided sample calculations.

However, I have the impression that my vote carries a little more weight since I followed the suggestions. In a series rating in which my country was listed with a manageable number of votes, I gave 8 stars, one person rated quite low and the rest 9 and a lot of 10. The weighted average, however, is 7 (unweighted 9+). In other words, the person with the bad rating and I seem to have a higher weighting...

No guarantee that it will really work, but it can't hurt if the 7000 people try it...

Haha, yeah, it left me no peace as to why with so many thousands of 10 star votes, the weighting is so far apart and it only takes a few votes to lower the rating, but 100+ to raise it again by 0.1 points.... I've been watching the rating since the beginning of September.

It also seems that the rating depends on the number of viewers (or/and maybe the airing duration?). Above a certain amount, it is adjusted. I observed this with The On1y One and also with Jack and Joker. Precisely because both are very popular, I use this for comparison. In the case of Jack and Joker, there was a point on Sunday or Monday, which is why the ranking suddenly slipped from 9.6 to 9.2 and is now in line with the unweighted average. Whereas The On1y One is consistently 9.8 unweighted, occasionally 9.7 and 9.9, but the rating remains low compared to the unweighted average.

8.9 and 9.0 is also very good for IMDB and the large number of reviewers in my opinion, because it is quite stable. But if you think about where the rating could be, there's room for improvement. 😉 Maybe I've become a bit nerdy in relation to the series 😅 but I don't begrudge them their high rating, especially after the whole Douban debacle and in relation to S2.

Yes, I did some research because I haven't noticed such a big difference between weighted and unweighted averages in any other series and they explained it quite well in a forum. The formula is not transparent, a few years ago it was halfway there... And it's very sad that so many people vote, but it has hardly any influence on the weighting.

I also noticed during the broadcast that the rating was "kept low" compared to the unweighted votes. Conversely, Jack and Joker, for example, was weighted at 9.5/9.6 until recently, while it was unweighted at 9.1/9.2.

I did a little research on the weighting at IMDB. So that the vote has more weight, the user is not only allowed to rate The On1y One. Your vote is given weight if you rate several series. Preferably the ones you like. That way you're not seen as a bot or something similar, but as a regular user...
I suspect that many 10-star votes only rate The On1y One and have only recently registered. Hence the extreme difference between an unweighted average of 9.8 and a weighted average of 8.9.

I am so sick of her,so done with her 🫠 I never met a person like her in this page 🙄
Mmhmm, as suspected. I'll have a look at the comment section. Then I'll report the person straight away...

And yes, I'm always happy when a new link from you pops up and I get to play again 😄

Same here. I didn't even want to watch it. But now that Santa's here, I'll give it a try.

I really appreciate your games. Even if I often have to make difficult decisions between my favorites 🤭.

Otherwise, I agree with Lyson's comments. The person gets their satisfaction from any interaction. Accordingly, completely ignoring him/her is the best thing to do, because that hits him/her the hardest, even if you don't realize it directly... I think the attack on you is also deliberately chosen because you are quite well known in the comment sections through the games and many play and enjoy them. If the person attacks you, the likelihood that others will jump on it also increases...

I know it's hard to put up with. Maybe try to make yourself extra aware that there are a lot of people here who really appreciate what you do ❤️

Believe it’s top 1 on tving and 17 on viki, expect that will change though.
So in my region it is shown in 2nd place on Viki and has a rating of 9.8 with over 5000 votes. That's very good. I'm curious to see if it can slip to number 1. Apart from that, I've only noticed one other BL so far, which has reached 2nd place in the Viki Top 20.

You're welcome :) I am also always grateful for new information...

Yes, I've already imagined what it would be like the other way around... I think they would both handle it well. Although I can imagine Dong Qin as JT rather than Benjamin as SW...
Then I thought of the scene with the cockroach and saw the BTS, how Dong Qin very quickly distanced himself from the animal... Then I had to laugh a lot at my imagination😅

I firmly believe that there will be a fan meeting. I think that the cast appreciates its fans.🤞

Yes, I can't imagine anyone else either. I was enchanted from the very first episode. I've never experienced it like this in a BL before. Everything was just so coherent... If someone had told me beforehand that I would be so addicted to the show and the actors, I think I would have laughed at them. But Dong Qin and Benjamin together exude an insane magic. There are very few series/movies that touch me in the same way and that I can watch over and over again.

And I think Dong Qin has a very good eye for acting, not only in his own roles but also in other choices. I think he's a bit underrated...

About Benjamin: Someone who can convey all kinds of emotions just with his eyes and make us understand what he's…
I read the other day that they didn't find Jiang Tian for a long time and even considered Dong Qin playing JT. But he turned it down because he saw himself in the role of Sheng Wang. When Benjamin came to the audition and was supposed to play a scene with Dong Qin, Dong Qin must have realized right away that it "clicked" and so Benjamin became JT...
This means that Dong Qin is not only a great actor, but we also have him to thank for the fact that we were able to discover Benjamin...

I wouldn't say it's fanservice either. In my opinion, it simply developed from the MV situation. I honestly haven't seen the vlog yet. But I think they just do what makes them happy...
