I like this show but please stop bringing other bls here, i saw so many comments talking about 4minutes and it's…
I think 4 minutes is simply used as a comparison and not to devalue, out of disgust or jealousy. I personally love 4 minutes because of its uniqueness and clever storytelling and the NC scenes are totally fitting.
I wonder how brave liu dong qin is for participating in a bl since he played in many popular dramas along with…
I hope he will be fine. On his Insta account there are already initial demands that he post pictures with Benjamin and complaints that he is not promoting The On1y One. I hope this doesn't get out of hand. I think his decision to take part in this drama is really brave and great.
I think this is related to the discussion about the age of an MC... There's nothing you can do. Some people don't…
I don't know either. I read in the comments that they cut out scenes that are important for understanding the content. I've only seen the cut version on YouTube so far... Sometimes I have the feeling I'm missing some context and maybe those are conversations etc. that have been cut.
There aren't quite as many negative comments here as in the other comment sections and in my opinion it's mostly…
Which is perfectly fine. The JBLs have their very own style. I change BL countries depending on my mood, but not every BL suits me. And I think those are completely legitimate reasons. Criticism and different opinions are important in my eyes.
I just have a problem with people being personally attacked or devalued in the comments section (e.g. "You're scared of dicks") and when the rating of a series is defined by NC scenes (they delivered enough and in time) and actors are confused with roles. I don't think all stories need NC scenes, for others they fit perfectly.
I think I found it :)) https://open.spotify.com/album/7HoXsKHZgb7JO11swrWXOz?si=Dj1yr4D3SpWZQmK9zHM9Yw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7HoXsKHZgb7JO11swrWXOz
Thanks 🫶 Maybe you can put the link in the discussion thread? Here in the comments section it slides down too quickly...
Here is also negative comments????Addicted Heroin and MLMU comment section are full of negative comments but if…
There aren't quite as many negative comments here as in the other comment sections and in my opinion it's mostly about the pacing of the drama and whether the plot is interesting, which is ok. There are of course some outliers...
But yes mostly the other comment sections are just about the presence of NC scenes and the age of the actors. That's how the series is judged. Look at the comment section of Takara no vidro... There you get called a prude (and worse) if you don't find it tragic that there are no NC scenes.
At the end of the day, you can learn a lot about the people commenting...
Let's just talk more about interesting things here.
**What’s Interesting About How Foreigners and Some Thais See Thai BL Series**I've seen a few comments like:"Shouldn't…
Fully agree with you. I also don't differentiate between straight dramas and BL. I want to see different, good stories. To have different aspects illuminated, to see different genres and good acting.
People criticise The On1y One for being too much about school in a high school setting and that the characters are just learning and that's boring and that two schoolmates who were complete strangers and whose parents were dating had an incestuous relationship. Here there were people complaining that the 16 year old actor is too young, there people are complaining that the actors are too old. In Takara no vidro, some people complain that the sexual aspect is not shown.
That makes me tired. I read so many comments where it's all about the presence or absence of NC scenes and then the series is judged on that and the corresponding age of the actors and their roles. When you bring up factual issues (about addicted heroin: age of consent, different laws, differences between working as an actor and reality, etc) and point out a certain amount of double standards, you sometimes get called names.
I don't really enjoy that and I now try to ignore those aspects and strengthen the exchange that I find exciting. I found the comments section of Century of Love really nice, for example.
I even saw complaint on how this story isn’t real because it doesn’t show gays being treated badly or bullied…
Fortunately, there are various tropes. How boring it would be if every high school drama had the same focus and played out the same way. Do I know that there is bullying and violence? Of course I do. Do I have to see that in every drama? No. Because that also reinforces stereotypes. After all, dramas are there to show other perspectives, even ideals, to focus on different aspects of life. Personally, I always ask myself whether I want to watch another high school drama. With The On1y One, I'm glad that I do. I don't know if I've ever liked a high school drama so much after 4 episodes.
Incidentally, episode 4 also integrates the themes of violence and bullying. It's just not the main focus but a sub-aspect of a complex teenage life. Also, we're only just in episode 4, the plot is still building and without having read the novelisation, I already know that there's more to come. I also love that there are a lot of characters who are all described and not just a bunch of extras. Nevertheless, the main leads are the focus. That's why I think it's really well balanced. Ultimately, not every story is for everyone. That's perfectly okay. Personally, I now drop series if I find them too boring, they go against my values and I can't find anything I like about the series. There are too many series on the market for that and my lifetime is too precious for that.
I also think you can never please everyone. Some of the actors are too old, so if 16/17 year olds were to play the roles, it wouldn't suit some people either. Some see chemistry, others don't. (Personally, I think the main actors act incredibly well and the chemistry of the roles is there). For some, everything has to be visualised, for others the plot is completed in their imagination. That's why it's good that there's such a diverse range of BLs and that everyone can find their niche.
I really enjoy the slow pace and storytelling of The On1y One. Someone described it as a breath of fresh air. I thought that was nice. For me, the series looks like it's going to be a real gem. I think you also put it well in your words what The On1yOne shows us: "But ultimately, it's meant to be an uplifting story to inspire many of us who are struggling in our own relationships and life that we do not give up on our love even if we may have to face struggles and hardships in that journey."
Please tell me this is not another remake of Addicted. Please tell me it is Addicted minus all the blood and gangster…
It's not another remake of Addicted.
I'm currently watching both Addicted Heroin (quite good so far) and The On1y One (love it). I think the latter is a lot better in terms of the mood and the feeling it conveys.
I think his decision to take part in this drama is really brave and great.
Why they do this, however, is a mystery to me.

And the question is, does the filmmaker or the consumer sexualise an actor?
I haven't seen Addicted. For me, this drama has more of "stay with me" vibes so far.
