Yup, those are the right words. I hope the upcoming dramas will be better. But I'm actually starting to worry…
Yes, for me there is a lot about the stories that feels bland. And as you say, you often ask yourself "but why"?
And actually, The Trainee is the best example for me. I look for the common thread, develop a theory (growth of the individual trainees) and then decisions follow that seem so arbitrary that I wonder, does everyone write a bit of the script and we'll see what it ends up being?
I actually really want to like this show because the actors are good. But I really don't know what to make of it. Everything is superficial and I always try to find a certain depth to the characters.
It's good that they're taking on actors and expanding the range. They should, I want everyone to be well paid. But they would have to put just as much into acquiring writers and directors. I feel like it's not balanced. To me it seems like they have a glut of actors on top of a tiny circle of directors/writers. Someone said in a comment the other day that they still have 19 series pending that were announced this year. With the quality that has been delivered recently, I wonder how they will be and when they will air.
For me, it's fine to have several characters to get more extensive roles, but as you say, the writers are struggling. In my eyes GMMTV is growing too unbalanced.
I have a feeling (after seeing everything GMM related in 2024) that since this year is the first year that GMM…
Yup, those are the right words. I hope the upcoming dramas will be better. But I'm actually starting to worry about them. And what will happen to Revamp that so many are waiting for?
I think they should improve the quality of their story writing. And they should really take more time when filming. I have the feeling that a lot has been cobbled together recently. Maybe it's also just too much to make the actors sing in every series on the side....
Phew... I don't really know what to make of this series. I haven't really got to know the most interesting character (Jane) yet. Can someone explain to me why he fell in love with Ryan? I feel like I'm trying to read a story on a blank sheet of paper...
Let's be real this is not bad but 8.2 for this is just unfair and high for this , how on earth night flight and…
You don't like the drama that much- ok.
But I think it's unfair to say that the rating is unfair. This drama is well made in terms of technique, acting and storytelling. You think it's boring? Okay, then it's maybe not for you. Drop it and move on. I thought Cherry Magic was good, I really liked Where your eyes linger, as well as the eigth sense. I don't remember much about HIStory 2. I didn't watch Addicted. But in terms of quality, I think this drama is just that little bit better so far and I think that's down to the actors, who round off the drama with their performances.
The series has this rating after 4 episodes and that's without having a welded-in fandom. In my eyes, you can just recognise that a lot of people love it. There's nothing unfair about that.
They are not hopefully gonna have spicy scenes, right? Cuz that would be too disturbing!
Personally, I don't think the age difference of 9 years is a cause for concern either. I just wanted to add that as information so that everyone can get a complete picture..
Priest's Da Ge got made into an uncensored Taiwan drama - Unknown. Granted, it's Priest, so you know she doesn't…
That actually shocked me too. (in a positive way) Seeing Liu Dong Qin in a BL. Precisely because he's already well-known and has so many series. I would never have thought that he would do that. Because I don't know whether it will have an impact on his career. But honestly, I'm really celebrating it.
At the very beginning of the first episode, I thought... Well, what kind of series is this going to be? By the end of the series, I was in love with the story. Amber is one of the most precious characters in the whole BL genre for me. Really, deep love for what I think is an underrated drama here.

No hate, but for your information, 18 years is still a minor. In Thailand, you only come of age at the age of 20. And Fuaiz (minor) and Bas also have an age gap of 9 years.
I don't have high hopes for this series. It's the kind of series that starts veeeery slow, to the point, you have…
Your comment is largely speculative. You're basically criticising things you know from Thai and Korean dramas and transferring it here, even though we're only in episode 4 and we're building up the tension between the MLs.
The drama builds slowly (from our point of view, novel readers will see it differently) and is soft. But the fact that there is no character development is not true. The characters have evolved over the last few episodes, subtly and naturally. The series makers develop the environment and a very real picture of highschoolstudents is portrayed (there are many who want realism, this is it).
In my opinion, the length of the episodes is really good. There are dramas where it feels like 15 minutes of the 45 minutes are filler (adverts, the same flashbacks over and over again). Here, the plot is presented at a well-balanced pace throughout, with a very well-designed narrative. I think it's really good that a lot of things aren't visibly thrown at you, but that clues are scattered and the characters develop naturally and subtly.
I'm not a novel reader, but what I have noticed is a possible time jump. Will we see NC scenes? We all don't know yet. In really good storytelling, you don't actually have to do it visibly, but you can rather stimulate the viewer's imagination to complete it in their own head. Because of the hint from Ep. 2 with the early kiss (which doesn't exist in the novelisation), however, I could imagine that there are scenes. However, I also think it's too short-sighted to judge a story based solely on the presence of NC scenes. There are different narrative styles and that's what makes the BL genre so diverse in my eyes. Because everyone can find their niche. In my eyes, if the quality remains the same, this series will be very well-rounded. The actors know their trade.
I would still say watch it. Tastes are different. And I have to say, I found some great actors through it. I stopped watching CDramas after the series because I realised that I don't really vibe with them. Especially because I always find the FLs annoying at some point because they are so submissive, among other things. But in the end it was precisely these actors that brought me back to CDramas and I really enjoyed the last one and was thrilled.
I'm sorry maybe I don't fully understand the concept of incest but they're not blood related and if I'm not mistaken…
This is not an incest story either. They're not even stepbrothers. Basically, they're school mates whose parents are dating and that's why they happen to live together. Incest means coitus between close blood relatives (like siblings, parents, grandparents).
this is a question for people watching this on Viki or IQIYI, for the uncle thatβs Iβm not sure if heβs…
On Viki they called him "Uncle Dumb". I don't like that, "Uncle Mute" sounds nicer. I think dumb can mean both stupid and mute, which can lead to misunderstandings.
What makes you think Taishin is in his mid-20s? He has just started studying, which means he should be 18. He…
Obviously I'm not male. Obviously I have enough life experience and understanding of men of different ages to know that they are not all the same(yes, even 18 year olds, surprise surprise)... Obviously, this series is about the emotionality, growth and emotional attachment of a first love. The focus is not on sexual desires or thoughts. Obviously I know way too much about you by now too. Honestly, your comments kind of bore me. Why don't you take your attention elsewhere? I'm not interested enough.
Some people doesn't like slow story progress, but I am ssssoooooooo in love with soft story like this, as long…
For me, the series has exactly the right pace for the development of the relationship. I think the series is really well balanced in everything. Be it the acting, the unfolding of the story or the technical execution.

My honest opinion: I thought it was mediocre, unfortunately.
I came to the drama through Dylan Wang and I have to say that I thought the cast was great throughout. But the story/role description wasn't quite as good for me. I remember that the FL really got on my nerves at some point and that really had nothing to do with the actress, I didn't find Dylan's role that convincing either. I stayed because of the side characters. I really enjoyed their stories. Even if a few clichΓ©s were used.
I would still say watch it. Tastes are different. And I have to say, I found some great actors through it.
