This ep.12 is a turnabout in the story. Lots of traitors went down the drain. YMH summed up who were his. Some other double agents were revealed, not all are dealt with.
Now on to other war theaters, after perhaps dealing with the old windbag ? The Lin family should show up next. We only know Z.Xiu is a scion of those. Every mystery is not cleared up in all this gloom and doom : it's still a very tangled web.

Some actors/actresses are still unknown to MDL, although at least one ought to be included since he will be playing an "important character" in the upcoming "Douluo Continent 2" drama which released a Valentine's day poster earlier in February.

Perhaps Tianmo then. That's a well known filming base close to Beijing that has it all : barren land, sand dunes....

Yes, he is Ding Jiayi 丁嘉毅, b. March 13, 1995, who debuted in dramas in 2018 but has only had small roles. He is presently shown as "Ming Hui" in Eternal Brothers / Zichuan. I am examining the characters and cast there in a companion piece posted to Discussions on the drama page, so that's how I became aware of him.

And you are right, not on MDL yet, as some other lesser character actors/actresses in that cast.
I can't figure out how to advise MDL to add this actor, can't find a suitable message link and read that MDL are understaffed anyway. So just turn to my cast list on Discussion page of Eternal Brotherhood, to find out links and details for him.

Also, they were very young, seven years before story of this (drama) story, when Ah Xiu was sent away. He was what then, thirteen some? Ning perhaps eleven? DiLin and Si Yilin perhaps a couple of years older?
But I thought it was Zichuan CanXing the uncle of Ning, brother to her father, who sent Ah Xiu away, with help from Yang Minghua ?

Just outside Beijing municipality, then. Yes, there are some rugged terrain areas there too. Lots of places to find suitable shooting decor.

Baidu info is that the drama as shot in Hengdian (yes those dark palaces...) and Beijing : somewhere in the sandy-rocky "desert" area beyond the Great wall, perhaps? (In the late 1980s early 1990s I remember there were still camels in those parts, surprising tourists that went to Badaling and Mutianyu, just like those that can be seen in early 20th century footage of the capital ; although these parts too are now developing fast for urban use within sixth ring... I also remember taking my younger son to slide down some smaller dunes in those parts between the Ming Tombs area and the Great Wall.) I was thinking they might have used the big sand dunes off Dunhuang, but that's some travel away from Beijing and Zhejiang, and there are lots of nearer desert places in Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, with spectacular desert and singing sands, even oases (fond memories of roaming there!).

of course I read it, lol. I did not have anything to add there, and since I had already written enough in the "companion piece" there, in discussions, I did not add one more review. Only more good ratings for the drama and episodes, and some laudatory comments in various places and forums. AJTL is definitely my favorite among LYN dramas to date, and I was gleefully singing with his part karaoke snippet of "Offer" which I added a linked GIF of in his mini profile.

actually I am leaning to side with those who view Ning Yuanzhou as having faked his death in AJTL ... after all the magic potions and pills to heal all wounds and diseases he ingested, he had become as close to immortal as could be + we never saw his tomb, not that it would matter, since Ruyi had already been buried (and cremated!!) twice before the end battle.
And you're right, in non costume dramas, LYN 's characters do not get killed off.

as you say, it's an Asian drama thing. In line, negatively, with the "showing sincerity" concept, which you probably noticed as well.
Self harm and suicide of course doesn't prove innocence; But causing someone to die because of an accusation will surely bring extreme consequences for those who caused it, because many people believe in ghosts and in bad karma. So the threat is a warning of a risk of curse. If an innocent person has been pushed to die, the curse is even stronger.

It's the third song in the OST : It's You (Shi Ni A 《是你啊》) sung by Zhang Ming'en in the male version (there's a female one sung by Sha La La)
There are only three songs listed on Baidu for the OST ; we already got "Lao Pengyou /Old Friend" which has been translated by several, including our MDL friend Peachey Blossom.

I also compiled all the 70 names listed in the "complete cast" now available on Baidu, for the Character Directory (still under construction until I've spotted them all :) ) There's one character that got credited twice for two different actors, so that will be the fun to sort out! MDL sided with page 7 of cast page on Baidu ; Dramawiki stayed with page 2 of cast page on Baidu. Neither is extremely well known, and have not appeared yet I think....
