sometime before June. Maybe earlier. I would not bet on sixth months if the production still wants audiences to get back. This looks like a case like Love Like The Galaxy which got artificially cut in two for length reason. LLTG audiences clamors were heard and so called part 2 was aired immediately with no delay in the wake of part 1 at the time.
In fact, there was a provision in the length regulation that dramas shot before the regulation might get exempted from having to cut, do seasons, and wait for inordinate lengths before said s2 was allowed to air. But I don't know what the production negotiated for this work. So we'll have to wait a bit. Hopefully not long, because the other items on program might steal too much audience away from Zichuan King of Light, "s2".

It's not an ending : part 2 is somewhere waiting to be aired, shortly if what I found is not mistaken. This is by no means an "open ending" it's "to be continued"....

Just found on Baidu an indication that "The first and second parts of "Zichuan: The King of Light" and "The Three Heroes of Purple River", starring Yang Xuwen, Liu Yuning, and Zhang Mingen, are expected to be broadcast on iQiyi before June". So we should hopefully not be left hanging for too long after the non-conclusion of the 24 episodes :)

Black Veil who appears in the end looks supernatural enough, and we did see the glint of red in the eyes behind the mask of Zichuan Xiu before he hacked off General Yun Qianxue's arm. It's just that these elements are yes, too few to really qualify as fantasy xuanhuan yet, and we are now stopped in media res, waiting for the drama to get its due conclusion, because that episode 24 is clearly not an end.

Perhaps there was a reason why Zichuan Xiu could not use his supernatural powers in Zichuan, and only in Yuanzhou, and it will be explained in part 2.

If there is a 24 episodes still in wait, and we had so much already, the drama may go further than the donghua, is my guess.

I just wonder why the production could not wrestle an exemption to air in two parts back to back like Love Like The Galaxy, since its only 48 episodes and they were filmed I think before the new rules for length. In fact, it may be they have, because looking more closely in Baidu, I found a hint with this suggestion. There will be a delay, but it should not be long before the necessary part 2 drops on screens<;

Even then, was not there a possibility to make it into 40 episodes by adding more time on episodes and cutting some Princess Ning repeated antics? We'll know someday perhaps.

By now, I have completed my screenshots picture gallery of illustrated characters, but I found some were missing, and some which were named and appeared, even shortly, were not credited. I still have not found Di Lin young and Si Yi Lin young... I put them in with the adult characters, but there is no episode mentioned, since I did not see them in any. It is rather strange that the cast listed characters that did not appear, so I think perhaps these were thrown back from the continuation. Or cut away totally, as unnecessary.

I was in two minds including Yun Qianxue's lieutenant, the actor mentioned on MDL looked somewhat like Yun Qianxue, but I confirmed with the Weibo of the actor Li Guo that it was indeed Li Guo who played that role.

There is a silver haired character in the court of Sairong that I could not find the name for - so perhaps he is among the remaining actors on Baidu cast list that I could not place in the puzzle. Did you catch his name there or in the donghua ?

There is also a character, Ou Le 欧乐, who was occupying Payi before Si YiLin sneaked in to take the city. He did not get credited on Baidu.

Ooh yes, that clip is nice, esp the eyes softly beckoning at 0:14-20:22. I added a cut into the pinned Profile, editing the Gucci March 2024 GIFs, so this can survive into the coming months and perhaps years.

The drama ends its first airing tomorrow for iQiyi VIP subscribers (or those who skirt rules and go bootleg), it will end on March 24 for those who follow on iQiyi without having forked out for VIP privilege.
Last week, it was still among the top 10 web TV dramas watched in China, as #6 (after White Cat Legend, Yong An Dream, Chinatown Detective S2, The Hunter, and #1 Everyone Love Me with 565 points which is below the threshold for decidedly successful dramas, 600+), according to Marcus Sim's reporting. So, while not spectacularly popular, it was in the range of the widely watched ones, as can also be seen witness the tables compiled by H19279 here , looking at the 紫川·光明三杰 lines :

Totally agree with you ; I was also puzzled by that bird. Regretting they did not weave in more fantasy, it's not that difficult with CGI.
I thought the novel was more fantasy than what you describe: there was an interstellar angle, and xuanhuan elements, according to what I read about it (have not read it first hand : too long, lol, and I am lazy, therefore a c-drama watcher!)
Also, even if it is a conscious choice by the director, I rather disliked the pervasiveness of dark colors and muted pictures with backlight, too identical costumes. The story is not uninteresting but I too have grumbles.
If there's a season2, I'll still watch it. But then, they'd better not kill off everybody of interest at the end of this one!

Thanks for liking. This one is the longest I've done. I intend to update it at least until TWOT airs, although I am not camping out every day on lookout for news, despite alerts.

I was amazed at the time I compiled it, to find that CZY and CXX have so many similarities : both 27, both having decided to manage their own careers through founding their studios, both cat lovers, both tall models working for fashion and beauty brands, both liking Dilraba, both skilled archers, both fond of the songs Long Time No See and Little Star but not really good at singing... Their biggest difference is the fits of laughter of CZY who is a Southerner from Shenzhen, and the less expansive humor of CXX who is a Northerner from Beijing with a smaller fandom than the one of CZY.

I like to do multi fandom exploration, staying more or less close, at times, to the fandom of some specific ones, but not really a devoted superfan such as say, WuLeiGalaxy who compiles everything about Leilei on her own blog and Youtube channel.

Well, it may look like just a nod to the classics, paying homage to the great models, but Chinese language is full of such references even in daily life: it's in the culture.
