For further information, I have added a new Discussion piece, in addition to the first companion piece, also in Discussion section.
The first one has a guide to original novel, author, crew, dates, production sites, airing and reception, plus links to the OST musical videos and, useful for the newcomers who may need a key for who is who in the drama, an illustrated Character gallery (still under construction for the last part, in waiting for the remaining 20 characters who have yet to appear ; 50 are already covered, together with a short note about the actors or actresses) : https://kisskh.at/discussions/zi-chuan/123627-eternal-brotherhood-shooting-and-dates-location-and-more It also features a mini profile of actor Liu Yuning, slightly revised from its first version, made for the drama he played in, end of last year, with a link to his impressive collection of cover songs and OST music videos and playlists. To navigate the thread, crossed links to a Table of contents is provided.
The new Discussion piece is about the "donghua" anime version (with link to watch it), and features an edited compilation of articles about its genesis, airing, and some illustrated views about some characters, including Zichuan Ning, to get another angle on the version played in the c-drama. https://kisskh.at/discussions/zi-chuan/123895-eternal-brotherhood-zichuan-ning-and-characters-in-the-donghua-version It also features short GIf excerpt from trailers and links to the Opening song "Breaking Dawn" sung by Liu Yuning (including a version with translation of lyrics).
if someone feels like something needs correction or would like to add a piece (suggestion : build a table of interesting Weibo or X, Instagram, Youtube, Bilibili... posts linked to the drama, to pin them there instead of their getting lost in the tsunami of reaction comments), be my guest!
Have a nice weekend, and enjoy, until the next episodes air on Monday !
She is playing as FL Zichuan Ning in currently airing Eternal Brotherhood, a dark fantasy and political struggle costume drama set in the fantasy land of Zichuan, from a famous Chinese novel of the 2000s. However, she has garnered some dissatisfaction because of the script that makes her character over-represented and too childish, prone to temper tantrums and fixated on a childhood sweetheart who has grown and seems not to be interested in her, despite she is heir apparent to the throne of the vast country, fraught with armed uprisings, famines, internal strife, and threat from across its borders. Not an easy role, as it will be easily misunderstood to show "no growth" for too long, and the character was secondary in the original novel.
A very unrealistic. The novel itself never mentions it. The anime added this but they made it more logical for…
OK, so you too haven't seen those young actors that are supposed to be in the cast. I assume it must be in the last 6 episodes then, unless there were cuts that suppressed their very discreet parts altogether. The flashbacks for the young Xiu and young Ning were really short.
We have time off until Monday on this drama, so I'm going to spend the weekend on something else probably. Wishing you a nice weekend :D

Did your answer for the flashback appearances focus on the anime version?
I was wondering where in the drama version did young SYL and young DL appear if it was in the 18 released episodes.
I remember the flashbacks when Xiu played music with Ning, when he was adopted, when he was keeping watch for her while she slept as a kid. Can't remember the three brothers meeting at military academy in the drama. Should I re-watch the first episodes more closely again? or was it inserted in later episodes that you' remember with precision?
Yes the drama has longer running time. And we got perhaps more than 5 hrs there of Zichuan Ning superfluous young baby-adult "love story", that overshadows the struggle epic, and cause negative reactions. sigh. It does not encourage me to go re watching everything. (also :I am getting too tired these days to do even what I need to do.)
Soon, I suppose. There are more characters to be discovered.
sigh, yes. It was in the top ten for last week, but we shall see how it fares this weekend; not sure it's still that high... Lots of other web dramas pushing on. I think a lot of people came because of LYN performance as Ning Yuanzhou in AJTL. Me included... Even knowing this would not be so excellent, since much older drama.

No I was answering to the comment about the donghua, that's why I wrote "a very long part" (as you say: several episodes: I was loooking specifically to find what the donghua had as model for the drama... ). In the drama, we only see extremely short snippets about their youth. There should be some about SiYiLin and Di Lin' youth as well, but if they have already been shown, I must have been sleeping... Can't remember where. If someone does, please point me to right track ?
I wonder why since Cdramas are allowed to have 40 episodes. Is there a new 36eps limit?Perhaps they decided it's…
yes there is..... so the longer ones should be "cut in two parts, with second part released.... after 6 months delay if they were not filmed before the reg came in, and did not get a waiver.
For me, since I have watched the anime, it's not her character which is problematic. I do understand that they…
yes, she IS listed as FL and well... even if it clearly the original story is not a romance centric story, the scriptwriters tweaked in too much of that here in terms of screen time. I admit it warps the story towards what it should not be. Hoping these eps 15-18 will now leave rest of time for the real story.

Yes. There is also a very long part about their childhood chasing butterflies where poor Xiu got seriously whipped by stepdad because he wanted to please her...
It IS a fantasy story, so realism .... orcs, dwarves, and so on... Even logic is not to be trusted too much, given…
Ning must have been the "sleeping beauty" from fairy tales, struck by a sleeping curse at age 6, recently woken up to find herself still orphan but brother Xiu was coming back for some more fun. We even have a washing feet scene that furiously had me thinking: where are the glass slippers, and the cardboard cutout prince? We did hear about dwarves, even if we didn't see them yet. Could we imagine that model as forgotten to be shown back story to make sense of her portrayal here ?
I was thinking : which song does that drama make me think of? Well here are the lyrics :
Hiding from the rain and snow Trying to forget, but I won't let go Looking at a crowded street Listening to my own heartbeat … So many people all around the world Tell me, where do I find someone like you, girl? … Take me to your heart, take me to your soul Give me your hand before I'm old Show me what love is, haven't got a clue Show me that wonders can be true...
lol how blood thirsty you ! The script missed an opportunity in the forest, when only the horse got eaten. But in the novel, and donghua, she does have a role to play, even is she is not the real focus of the story, so we must endure her charmed life continuing.

if its Ning Ge, it would not be bad.

but given the reactions here, I am not sure it would air...
