His older brother? Rong Yu does not have a brother. Did you mean the martial arts "brother" of Jiuling? He did not get near Rong Yu, but gave a small vial with some strange "amnesia" powder inside, up to her to use it or not on RY. Real medicine? do you mean the medication that his uncle tried to cure RY once the powder showed its too-potent effect? Jiu Ling did have older blood brothers, but they had no business trying to cure RY: by then they were convinced RY was not going to recover, so just wanted to take JL away from RY.
But the story does have many twists and turns. Brace yourself if you thought that ep.8 was sad. But do watch on, it looks like a thrilling story!

I think the change from red colours to white colours shows she is in mourning.
Mourning of course. That's codified for at least six months after relative's passing. It is taboo to wear bright colors such as red or yellow during the mourning period. We also saw her perform basic rites such as offering wine in front of the graves even if she was perhaps prevented from offering the usual burning of paper money offerings.
From the short preview of episode 16 we could see that Rong Yu has recovered his faculties but is still faking…
Having the new princess marry RY to keep him under his thumb at all times? Could be. RY doesn't even need to be forced to divorce : in "ancient" times polygamy was common and even viewed as healthy. But the fate of a less mighty wife could be dire, so not sure RY could protect JL, if that happened.
Remembering Cixi the dowager empress had a younger wife of her heir apparent thrown into a well to drown... That, and poison, strange accidents, happen all the time in power struggles. Still do, not only for females: think of all the "strange" aircraft accidents, Lin Biao's etc. Cruel world!

I do like that Wang Youshuo appears to like cats and seems to go for unusual ones... The story has twists and turns and some of what we might have thought to start with turned out to be different. There certainly are more mysteries and thrills coming up. I was busy with other things so lagged behind in watching but caught up to latest release today. We still have twelve episodes coming.
Meanwhile, I spellchecked (there may be typos remaining) and corrected a few mistakes of mine in the Tidbits : I long thought Lord Rong was Rong Yu's father, although wondering how he could be so chilly to his supposed son; so he turns out to be his uncle... Also puzzling for a while how the character introduction in Baidu could fit "marquis Zhongyong" ; it was cleared up when Qingyan came to arrest Jiang Songmin who called his father for help. Now, those family ties betwen the two became clear. I have also slightly rearranged the Directory of characters since Chu Chu appears to come in later, after Jiang Songling got her title. (Chu Chu did appear before, but only for a very short moment so we still don't know much about her and how she will turn out). I also added pictures so it will be easier to recognize who is who.
There may be other changes along the 12 episodes remaining... But the Directory is now fitting what we came to know at this point in time, although I tried not to weave in too many details into character descriptions, so it won't spoil readers starting on the drama too much.
The naming parts yielded some added interest to me. As for titles, I was trying to follow what I heard in the drama, so balancing between having the ruler as emperor or king of Jialin (two different types of addresses were used : Baidu had "kingdom" in one character introduction ). Since kings usually bow to emperors and we have no indication that there is someone mightier than Shao Di (except, at the moment, the hated Regent) I decided to rewrite the description to fit "imperial" theme.

It belongs to the slew of dramas like Immortality (although not as sulfurous) that fell under the new guidelines for airing license denial. Since I see the deadline of first two weeks of September passed when the reshoot for The Golden Hairpin should have taken place, I am not that sure it will be done for 2024, 2025 or beyond. CP4 has posters, and that iQiyi poster that did announce it for 2024. The airing programmes for 2024 are not out yet, so we can only wait. If it does not appear in 1st or 2nd quarter, it might in 3rd or 4th. See how Hidden Love was aired before TPATW by same Youku platform. Now with the success of these two, big for the first, okay for the second, Chen Zheyuan is bankable, so airing CP4 sometime (provided there is no controversy), will make sense. It might take time, but I am not that pessimistic about that one as I am about the two other shelved projects. Let's send good vibes for that, okay ?

Material was posted in the past. It is not that unusual that a series takes over one year to air after wrap. Long Promise etc. Don't give up on CP4 yet. The Princess and the Werewolf aired after Hidden Love and Mr Bad was filmed and aired before Hidden Love and after TPATW filming ended. So the only thing is we don't know when, but there are signs for 2024 with that poster, a copy of which is in the Profile... The only one(s) that will probably not air is Winner is King, and maybe Golden Hairpin too because it looks like the plan with Lin Gengxin to replace Kris Wu fell through. Are there any known problematic side with CP4 like a banned or controversial actor, controversial subject matter? I don't think so. Granted it took its own sweet time to get through 4 scriptwriters, but Baidu stated the contracts were signed and filming proceeded and wrapped. Now, we'll just have to wait. Don't jinx it.

This Uighur actress is a new face to me (although I had taken note of a catalogue of these actors/actresses who appear in support or main roles, Merxat etc; and everybody knows Dilireba...). Gulmira will be seen next in Chinese Paladin4 whenever that one, featuring also Chen Zheyuan, airs in 2024 (no hope for 2023, since 2024 is on an official poster for upcoming dramas by WeTV). and she is already "Princess Ulan" in Hilarious Family.
Bizarrely, two actors are missing in the cast and unknown to MDL : Lou Hengzhi, who plays He Shan, main attendant of Rong Yu ; Gao Yiwei (formerly Gao Wei) who plays General He Liang, the dad of Jiuling, --- I already found it was difficult to add cast on MDL from Chinese links, I tried again, since Gao Yiwei is known to dramawiki, but struck a wall : "add cast" is closed for this drama! Same as correcting a wrong name in the cast of The Princess and the Werewolf : another member tried but the wrong name is still there. If you want the correct names, turn to the Tidbits directory in pinned Discussion section (above this Comments section) for this Inextricable Destiny drama, or the Cast Characters and Crew (also in Discussions section) for TPATW : I do my research carefully, when I tackle something. -Still, I am on the lookout for ONE actor in TPATW that was not credited anywhere: this one is pictured in 2 gifs so if anyone knows who he is, adding the name (and bio?) would be nice.
