Wow, you must be easily entertained if you find my comment so funny. But it does reflect that you like to misinterpret what others say .... It also shows that you do not like costume dramas, generally, or if the story is complicated. As you say : to each their own.
Of course I am not comparing LMLMV to LLTG as dramas or even as casts. LLTG was the only c-drama I really kept hanging on anticipating in the long breaks like the 3 day one now (well, maybe some other dramas too, but not as intensely). Usually, I just let the drama hang a few weeks before taking it up again if there is a long break.
AJTL is expected to top views in China as computed by TV ratings and social discussions in the past week. And since Opening Douban rating is out already for it, I was just skimming through the many only laudatory comments about the drama that go totally against your one. Here is one that reflects how I feel about that one : "I am quite happy with the opening rating of Journey to Love... I didn't expect much from it initially but to my surprise, it is really well done, so far the characters and the storyline has been quite engaging and exciting, I hope it maintains the quality till the end. Well, it's not like LLTG : I won't re-watch episodes too closely... Not that thrilling. And the kisses are underwhelming. The music is good, so I'll put on the OST while doing some other work.
Some songs are not yet heard in the drama, so I can't do more than what I did in my annotation of the OST (part of my companion piece in Discussion). I still have not found Le Xiaotao, who is only mentioned as "Internet singer" on Baidu zhidao: she has also sung before as voice of "others" as mentioned there (but I have not found recordings) But there's a mention elsewhere of Le Xiaotao as the heroine of a time travel novel, so I assume Le Xiaotao must be a stage name. No idea who is really behind that name, except I don't believe it could be Zhou Ye herself.
Then, while listening to alto singer Chen Min on Youtube (she is one of the singers who covered the "shengshengman" song), I stumbled upon her cover of a recent song by Dao Lang who is a special artist (some may remember the Raksha haishi phenomenon this summer) His songs are roundabout (if sarcastically) related to the spirit of zhongguochao, so I added his name and some links in the playlist of songs and styles related to zhongguofeng/gufeng.

Frustrating for those who crave kissing and skinship, probably: it is more about battles, undercover agents in ancient costume, and politics. Chang Huasen caught my attention among the 2nd leads. To me, Duan Jiaxu is much more romantic (and pleasingly funny) than Dr. Mo. Compare the scene with Duan Jiaxu sweetly poking Sang Zhi's cheek while they are sitting like love birds together at the university lecture, with Dr Mo just sitting behind Gu Sheng at a similar lecture. But LMLMV is a different romance. I like it too, despite the touristy filler. I have visited Yangshuo and Guilin in another timeline, when hordes of tourists were not competing for space, and the beautiful scenery could be taken in at leisure, complete with Chinese painting style boys riding swimming buffaloes, and the monkey screaming from the steep green banks in Guilin river park area. So I don't really mind the drama "postcard" vacation, that triggers nice memories, also of food, when we sat in a street-side restaurant, after choosing unlikely sustenance at a picturesque open air restaurant with trestle tables.

I am totally left smiling by the charmed bubble around Mo Qingcheng and Gu Sheng and their lovely songs.
I dived in to watch it (like you?) as a fluffy excursion into other times other views and sounds from dramatic A Journey To Love with its Buddhist/Daoist sects "paths" complications, switching to the main app (WeTV) where I have a subscription as VIP so also watching other shows on and off.
This drama is a really nice one, with mouthwatering recipes and kitchen stuff. I am not surprised that it is "quickly moving up in ranking just behind Hidden Love"! Those who are afraid of sweetness overdosing should quickly turn away and dive into One and Only masterpiece tragedy instead of complaining about voices (the song ones are excellent here, and as a musical drama it is up till now totally satisfying! and spoken voices are also totally fitting the sweet romance) or love themes and tropes! Those who crave Wonder Woman "strong women" to overpower the stupid sentimental or overbearing older males should perhaps not stay with c-dramas, even though some may fit their taste (Dream of Splendor, perhaps?). Tan Jianci's Mo Qingcheng is certainly unusual in his busy pro medical and dubbing business, having resisted love affairs until suddenly falling for a voice heard online and on a demo song played in ... a supermarket!
Although as a timely romance, airing of Love Me Love My Voice would have been more appropriate for early February before CNY and Valentines' day? (Perhaps it will have a re-run then and charm more audience... )

More mundane, a long blog post of 2020 by Irish republican politician Gerry Adams (who was the president of Sinn Féin between 13 November 1983 and 10 February 2018) mentions " Perfidious Albion has been a part of our historical and cultural narrative for almost 900 years. " referring to the numerous contentious issues and historical strife between Eire and the so-called United Kingdom. I am an avid reader too, also of older English literary gems such as the plays of Marlowe, and Shakespeare which is quoted from in every book of the urban fantasy novel series October Daye, penned by American writer and songwriter Seanan McGuire - I also like that series for its catalogue of gaelic mythology spirits that are a nice addition to the world collection of assorted monsters, demons, and ghosts : centaurs and griffin, gorgons/medusa, in their Greek and Roman manifestations; Lorelei and German other worldly beings in the Nibelungenlied, the Tales of Grimm ; giants, dwarves and elves of the norse Eddas and their Tolkien offspring ; rusalka, drekavac, baba yaga of slavic folklore; yokai of the Japanese; Chinese dragons, qilin, kun and dapeng, white or green snakes, fox spirits, e gui, etc. (I like to read about folklore since I first enthusiastically came across Frazer's "The Golden Bough" study of comparative magic and religion, and expanded to other cultures' folklore).
Yes, reading many books (also of poetry, History, travelogues, biographies, contemporary geopolitics, business and computer culture!) are great to expand one's vocabulary and understanding of the world we live in!
I am almost disappointed that we don't (yet?) have some interesting monsters and demons in A Journey to Love. The shape-shifting device of the Scarlet guards' "skin mask" is depriving us of some of the magic of wuxia, which was still present in the older stories (Legend of Condor Heroes etc).
he IS handsome and deserves a reciprocated romance 💒 but his one and only deep Love is his older Shifu🙀
Yes, he also caught my attention since ep 1, so I may be looking at future other dramas with this actor 哈哈哈 I am sure I will watch "Chasing The Moon", since it also has my favorite Bai Lu and Ao Ruipeng in the cast, but perhaps also later "Dali Temple", where Chang Huasen will have his first main role.

I had been puzzled by the "calvaries" mention, so thanks for having cleared up what it meant in this context. The inspiration for this sect like Liudao looks indeed quite Daoist to me too, although it is not precisely mentioned.
