Just to say that you can find an the in depth Profile of Chen Zheyuan, which I initially started as a companion piece in the aptly hidden Discussions section of this drama, and continued as a companion piece for TPATW - for which I also made two other companion pieces (one about Cast, Characters, and Crew, with short notes about the drama and much more ; and another Profile for his co-star there). In fact, there are so many reasons one drama is not one's cup of tea at one moment, and might be the one to rave about at another time... I don't pay much attention to ratings, reviews, and even hype. Prefer to dive in haphazardly and often find pleasant surprises. If the drama for some reason did not grab me, I will let it slide before it gets in my list,bc I hate the word "dropped". If it does, I am very patient and lenient, so I often try to find the redeeming things that could interest me, like settings, quotes from literature, dramas, adfest, whatever. !!
Going back to the dog & ceo story with TaoTao. No, I am close to the hailang, but one step removed, more as a researcher into pop culture? So, perhaps I'll soon venture a Profile like the ones I did for Chen Zheyuan and Wu Xuanyi But first, since it's sunny and balmy weather, I'll go stretch my legs :)))

Fun Fact. Z.Tao is a genuine CEO.... He has several businesses and owns an entertainment company called Longtao, a fashion brand called YKYB. He is not a small business owner either but a multi billionaire with a Jet Lear plane and many cars that he likes to drive occasionally. He started out as breakaway from his billionaire family in Qingdao to run to South Korea and become one of the stars of ExoM group, because he is both a martial artist and a singer and dancer, and was the last of the four who returned to China (Luhan... ) except if you consider that Lay Zhang still kept a line with the Korean company while working in China, until his contract expired last year. Huang Zitao/ Z.Tao is also composer and songwriter of songs that appeal to his fan crowd of "hailang" (ocean waves). I know most of his songs, and his quirky personality does not faze me. He has financed and launched shows such as Chuang 2018 and more. The only thing I am a bit worried about is his love of tattoos, that have become very much frowned upon in officialdom, but he is very tall, muscular enough and is a sort of "godson" of Jackie Chan, so... He is an interesting guy.
He also genuinely loves dogs, showed his own in some livestreams (he does at least one long one, over one hour, yearly, where he rambles about all sorts of things that are on his mind. Usually with some friends, like Luhan.)
His hair. I am not into that sort of hairdo, but it is his style. He has dyed it every color of the rainbow, cut it almost to the skin for one movie, and perhaps he is happy that it grew back so he lets it fluff up in his signature mullet style. So be it. He stands out in a crowd. Some find him handsome, some don't. To each their own. I admit I prefer Chen Zheyuan's hair style. I agree about the criticism of the makeup, although perhaps it is a consequence of that role where he shaved off everything. So he looks like he got painted on or plucked eyebrows now, not the best look for him.
But Z.Tao is Z.Tao. "Salute to the hailang", as he says in some concerts, where he is kind enough to bring into the limelight new voices. He is considered as the "king of C-pop", as different from mando and cantopop. I love the recording of his Nanjing "The Road" concert, and some Qingdao concerts too. But he also professes his love for movies and dramas, and his ideal is to be seriously remembered as also and perhaps first, as an actor.
I liked his playing in The Negotiator, The Brightest Star in the Sky, Hot blooded youth, Forward Forever, Legally Romance, and watched some of his travel shows around the world, to Svalbard and Iceland and parachuting over a volcano in Madagascar, if I remember well... He was very daring and active.
