I listened yesterday to a psychology podcast where they said in healthy relationships people challenge each other. If there's no challenge and all is positive and agreeable, the couple will break up. That's Dodal future over there. No, I didn't make the rules. Psychology is backing that up
I guess the director knew that better than us ahaha no wonder he personally casted him and did the shooting around…
I don't think he will fade after a few moths because the guy has talent. He will for sure get roles from big names, because some directors/scriptwriters don't go only for the fame/followers but they choose actors that could carry out a drama, and he is more than capable. (fame + talent, who wouldn't want him) He proved his versatility many times.
If he was only a flower boy I'd say he will perish like one. Also we saw how Salt entertainment is managing Park Shin Hye (she's in a lot of popular/different movies) so I think he'll be good.
And tbh I like how his agency is pushing him to become a star in terms that if he keeps doing only theater, we won't be seein much of him as we can't go to Korea when we want
He's type-casted like loads of actors are lol. He's very charismatic, funny, and emotive actor. But the roles…
I've seen him in many dramas/clips and I was so surprised of how different he was in Startup. With the hair down and smiling, I would never ever say KSH is HJP, even if it's the same person in terms of looks.
Haters gonna hate hate hate, Taylor Swift already told us
Fate was treated as a joke surely would take revenge soon.
Me too. The main couple relationship wasn't healthy, DS didn't pursue his own dream, HJP/DM relationship had so much potential to be a healthy one... overall still disappointed.
I'm just learning about cognitive dissonance. Is it possible our SDM is one of those examples? -Saying she wants truth but she still wants dreams and hope. Saying he likes the boy from the letters but wants them big hands? I think I'm a step closer to figure her out xD
Fate was treated as a joke surely would take revenge soon.
The turning moment when fate becomes nothing is when SDS grabs his own dream. It was like the writer telling us "everything you saw till now, all the interpretations, superstitions mean nothing". It felt like a slap in the face. Building a beautiful world (I'm not superstitious irl) full of metaphors to throw it all out the window in a second, it felt wrong. I, like a viewer, felt betrayed. It's like Harry Potter, after all the moveis, telling us it was all a dream. You got so invested in that magical world that it feels like a bad joke.
And the fact that the writer still used superstition with the rainbow thing from last chapter, it seems like she is laughing at us. The lack of consistency... there.
These two videos summarize it all very good and on point. Many viewers who defend DS as the main lead mostly because…
I wanted SDM and SDS have a realistic journey, from underdogs to achieving their dreams. The romantic relationship between them wasn't healthy enough for me to root for them, but being by themselves and fighting for their own dreams (not being each other dream) would have been nice. We're in 2020, we keep having conversations about the need to love yourself and heal before loving others to really buy this kind of codependency.
This drama made characters like DM, JP and Grandma unrealistic. How could grandma keep the lie for 15 years, WHY…
Till episode 12 HJP's character was pretty consistent. When he realized about his feelings he went for it and confessed. The 3 year time skip and what happened afterwards was just bad writing to make the main couple happen. I think HJP didn't like DM 15 years ago and it made sense, she was a kid and he was older. Romantic interest back then would have been weird. I got the feeling that he liked her for who she was in the present, her nosiness, her talking back, her growing as a CEO and making decisions. Till episode 12 we were good.
DM character was the worst written. We didn't feel the betrayal as she forgave SDS right away. She didn't really close the chapter of the letters by doing something symbolic like throwing the letters. No. She was like a closed book, like a black box. We never got to see what she was feeling. She was the manic pixie dream girl... till the end. I expected the 16 episode to be full of her finally expressing her feelings. Even in episode 15, SDS is the one who asked her and kissed her. She became an object. She was the worst written character. And it's not nice to think the writer is female... This is how she view us?
DM mom and how she wasn't given custody after father's death.. also a mistery. We could have ignore the "little" plot holes if we didn't have the big ones from the last 4 episodes.
I've never hated any kdrama character as much as DS. He almost feels like a villain lol
The first time in a drama I wanted them to fail and not get the bid. Not in a hateful way, but in a "I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." kind of way. But no, let them win by pure luck.
It's not that easy to get a bid if you're a small company. think about competing against McKinsey and Delloite: didn't make any sense they won being such a young startup

I'm almost over this fiasco, I promise

To sum up:
Plot holes, plot holes, everywhere.

It had the potential to be a beautiful love story (Jane Austen alike) but ended up being "ah".
The actor that played HJP is really good at acting but even taking him out, the character is still beautifully crafted.
