I came here hoping someone had an airing calendar or explanation for why only 1 episode was released but I see that everyone is wondering the same thing……
maybe I have become numb to this drama, the drama forced me to be sad but I don't feel it. I don't believe in…
I think you nailed one of my problems with the drama. She shows almost ZERO trauma at all. ZERO inner depth and heartache. I get maybe why they chose to make her that way but I think it really detracts from the dynamic when all of the dramatic flashbacks to the accident come from Seo Ha and Ji Eum is so completely disconnected emotionally to the actual trauma of dying like that. She feels sad FOR people, but we need to feel HER sadness. Even if it’s just a few scenes of her internally breaking down and FEELING it would be helpful to the balance of the characters. Apparently she is written this way in the webtoon. But adjustments should have been made for the drama because it does not translate well to the story on screen for her to be almost devoid of a range of emotions connected to her past and current lives.
I get what you mean with how other character feeling conveyed better to the audience. I think SHS acting is good…
Yesss you and I are having the same reaction. I agree with everything. I especially agree that they are not connecting us enough to her past lives which feel like other people rather than like Ji Eum. They should have used her to play all her past lives. It may work in the webtoon, but visually it really creates problems seeing random male and female actors in short snippets who are supposed to be Ji Eum in her past life and feel connection to them.
I’m reluctant to say this because I am one of SHS biggest fans and she has been in some of my ultimate favorite drama’s and I just truly love her…….. but I think there is a slight disconnect between what her role as Ban Ji Eum needed and what she is giving. ABH has nailed his role imo and makes it easy to connect his child character and adult character with his trauma, PTSD, guilt and yearning. But with Ban Ji Eum, it’s either the writer and directors fault for not writing her adult character more multi-dimensionally or SHS not portraying her more adult character multi-dimensionally. I’ve read many comments/reviews from people saying they prefer the child versions more and I think I am starting to understand why. The child actors are move favored because they carry the bulk of the emotional connection between our characters while adult Ban Ji Eum is essentially this almost chronically “nothing can phase me which means I am essentially the same no matter what circumstance or scene, where most of the feelings and emotions we feel are from the people she’s playing against. So we cry when she sees her mother, we cry when her sister has drinks with her and talks about missing her, we cry when Seo Ha is feeling absolutely devastated. It’s everyone AROUND her that we connect with and feel their feelings while with Ban Ji Eum we have yet to get to enough real depth and growth within her character to deeply connect with her. There are moments, but overrall it’s like every scene carries the same weight from her character so aren’t getting a wide enough array of depth from her. We get it, she lived 19 lives and her 18th was the one that was cut short and she felt she loved the most and the one she misses the most, but they’ve missed the mark with her character building and it makes me sad because I DO love this drama and I extreeeeeemely love SHS but I’ve been waiting to get “more” from her as we’ve gotten deeper into the episodes for this to become all it can be.
Is it me or I find the FL is annoying as heck.... what prompt her to act like the way she does?... Her overall…
The FL was not raised like anyone else. She was never taught the way others were taught. She simply was never given the skills so she is very very raw, green, unrefined. The entire point of her character is to show how she has incredible natural smarts, she’s quick, witty, improvises and figures out things others can’t but she works off of a very unrefined personality who has never been trained , she is at a disadvantage. She works purely off of heart and natural abilities.
So the point is that now that she has a master who see’s her and understands her she will grow. Her character requires patience to see her evolution.
Was GQ ever really in love with FY?? It's hard to believe she was true to him in the first place. I can't stand…
maybe in the god realm she was really in love with the demon lord she releases from prison and maybe that demon lord was Ji Rouchen and maybe FY had a one sided romance and maybe we got an “alternate history” told from his point of view of him being madly in love with her while she deep down was in love with the demon lord she released….. I don’t know just trying to make sense of it all 😩
Am I crazy or this taking really long to come out compared to drama’s filmed at the same time? so many projects that Yang Se Jong would be absolutely amazing in yet nothing else seems to be on the horizon. Really confused about why he’s practically on pause post Military release 😿
I think he was in love with her in a past life. There was a scene where I think it was him pulling her in the…
You could be right. I thought the guy pulling looked the new mystery guy and she (with a different face from her past life ) was the one being pulled. I would have to rewatch to see that it’s a different guy. I’m seeing lots of theories about who he is so he’s probably not the guy who was pulling.
Signed sincerely from an SHS stan 🤷🏻♀️
I hope we get that going forward.
The wise words of all Grandma’s 😂
