Everyone makes sense except CGH. Even Uncle Gao made perfect sense. I think CGH will be the unhinged big bad. I actually wonder if SYM will comment on it as in every bad idol drama there’s usually a big bad who makes no sense and just flips out illogically. Literally everyone else could see the battle situation for what it was and move on but he can’t???
I’m really feeling for NR and I hope CGH’s descent into madness doesn’t make him too sad. He’s foolish but sweet and oddly insightful where it counts (knowing he can’t be Crown Prince, telling NH that he understands they were unfairly venting their anger about Empress’s death on NH, wrestling with the Eunich when he thought the king was going to lock up NH based on CGH’s fake evidence - this impressed me because NR loves CGH but he could rise above it).
I liked that SYM got cross at NH but basically told him she’d talk to him again when she gets over it. Development!

I love that one from the Long Ballad but rather than wading through all the songs I’d love some “must listen” recommendations. Something with a catchy tune please!

See I don’t believe it’s a productive discussion if you are effectively trying to force your views on someone. There are plenty of people who dislike the female lead. I don’t comment on their posts to have a “discussion” with them. They are entitled to their views and to vent about the female lead in peace just as I am entitled to say how much I enjoy the female lead. What’s the point of having a “discussion” to browbeat them into appreciating the virtues of the FL?
To me a discussion would be more along the lines of responding to something like “Do you think ML and SML friendship is toast or can they repair it?”

I’m enjoying this drama immensely. It’s the first one I’ve watched in a year. I enjoy the comedy, the acting chops of both leads, the handsome SML, the relationship between NH and SGH etc. I’m probably not the person you should air your grievances to. Not much I can do about them.

I actually think they both make a lot of sense and both are behaving fairly rationally within the construct of their characters but your mileage may vary.
I don’t actually begrudge his actions towards her and have really felt for him these past episodes but I enjoy the female lead putting herself first and being somewhat “meh” to the “drama” of the plot.
I don’t understand all the dumping on the female lead. People should just watch a stereotypical idol drama if they want a stereotypical plot.

She’s not in love with him yet. What she does in the next 15 episodes remains to be seen. Why get your knickers in a knot demanding the female lead repay her love interest in equal amounts.
He saved her in the latest episodes and grew to love her as LSL but as far as she’s concerned he hasn’t really done anything for her before this. He tried to murder her and then had to save her because the plot forced him. Even originally as LSL.
She could have made it worse for him with the emperor but she only asked the emperor to anull her marriage to him (she didn’t want to marry him, just to be left alone, he pushed it so she reacted. Seriously if I’m in some plot and dude makes me marry him, I wouldn’t take it so kindly either).
I don’t actually think she’s a badass female lead. She’s all about self preservation and good on her! She’s an actress in a freaking plot trying to navigate her way through where the main male lead “villain” is trying to chase her. She owes him nothing.
Love this. Love the female lead and I think she makes a lot of sense. The original NH character put her in a barrel!!! She has every right to distrust him and take care of number one. She’s fallen into a script. It makes perfect sense for her to treat him like he’s part of the script. She has no idea if this world is real/a dream/an illusion etc. I would be disappointed if she was caught up in idiot costume drama energy and just swooned. Isn’t the whole point of the series is for her not to swoon and be the resident idiot female lead?
I like that they’re resetting the relationship between SYM and NH. After all the secrets and misunderstanding, they’re back to getting to know each other. Now when love blooms from there it will make sense. They needed all this development to get past the first plot where he keeps her in a freaking barrel.
Girl got the whole script in her hands, yet She couldn't make a proper judgement of someone's character. Prejudice…
In her original script she suffers a horrible fate due to him. She’s now running off script. She has no reason to think he’s got any redeeming features and no reason to realise sml is shady. That’s all off script.
I think it is AMAZING that she is sharing photos of herself in such a vulnerable state, warts and all for the world to see. She’s so incredibly brave. And although it was never her obligation or responsibility, she’s done an incredible thing by revealing how toxic the industry is and the dark forces that lurk behind the beautiful, talented actors who seemingly have the world at their feet. I’ve always enjoyed her acting and thought she seemed like a lovely person but now I have so much respect for how she handled this ordeal.

I think he’s a good villain and the actor does a good job.
I find it baffling that people keep whining about him. Maybe they need an old villain who does not upset people’s sensitivities about the main romance.
I’m enjoying this drama and think the three young leads are fantastic. I like the villain and think he’s a “good” villain for the story. He’s villainous yes but he’s got purpose and his grudge is understandable.
What is the point of watching a story where there is no conflict? One might as well just look at posters of the cast. No need to film anything.
Just finished ep 1. Loooooove it! Freaking hilarious!!!!! Zhao Li Ying is gorgeous! Absolutely stunning!
I am loving the humour in this. Stunning visuals too! Haha I’m so used to the fake sets in xian xia, it is lovely to watch the shots of scenery in this one.
Finished it, enjoyed it! It had its faults but no more than all the typical xian xia nonsense that happens in every other drama of this genre.
Good points:
*Great cast - Good looking cast who can all act and are invested in their roles.
*WAY - I complained a lot about his character but the actor did a fantastic job. His boyish charm made things a lot more tolerable and although I found him incredibly handsome, he was thoroughly invested in the role instead of posing to show off his good looks (I won’t name names but some handsome actors are notorious for doing this)
*ZLS with a very different demeanour as FY - She’s adorable and no one does cute as well as her but by golly you can see her range here. I very much enjoyed her as the frosty, business like FY and you can see why HY was no longer in love with her. She was nothing like the A Yin he had a crush on.
*Peacock - Yes she was awful but I liked her motivation for being evil. She did not crazily chase after the male lead declaring unrequited love.
*Lots of very nice scenes between the leads. I enjoyed the amount of screen time the leads had together. They didn’t spend countless episodes separated or roaming the forest with other people 😂

It’s typical xian xia. Certainly no worse than any other plot but very typical. Acting and casting is excellent so it gets bonus points for that but the plot is standard xian xia.
