Hm that made me think... remember how the infatuated professor said to his wife that he was just enduring the last 25 years and was bored and suffocated? how come that topic was never on the agenda for 25 years??? It is the fault of him AND his wife.
Professor was a "decent guy, a good family man" and then went haywire when his dormant passion genuinely ignited with HY and he fell in love.
So we saw that Professor is genuinely a decent guy to some degree, however, he is a blind guy with shady morals when it comes to getting what he wants and we see how he got there - his wife kept him on the leash and their marriage was super.... boring and empty. How come his wife did not feel it even once in 25 yrs that he is bored to death? Have they ever talked or spent time together???? obviously - not. Hos wife owned him like he was her dog. AND HE CONSENTED TO THAT.
Imo the message is: Food for thought about what can happen with supposedly "decent spouse" in a marriage that grows stagnant and stale and then spous(es) cheat their way out of that hole instead of trying to rekindle or resolve the marriage
The ancient topic of "how to stay interesting to each other after 30 yrs of marriage". It is a very simple but very difficult answer - keep growing as individuals and together.
This is some ideas for "few changes that would have made the drama so much better" - see the spoiler
1. Fix the pacing!!!! DumbMi is kept dumb forever to the very last episode!!!!! omg that makes the drama as thick and slow as molasses... Make her smarter faster, and then have back and forth between her team and HY team, so that both teams win and lose many times
2. Fix the pacing!!!! Seo Rim is kept on the screen in minimal quantities. But she is the spunkiest funniest character in the whole drama!!!! So ... if it is too tough to film SR and JM in the same scene, then send DumbMi to a cooking school in the USA and focus the drama on Seo Rim for a while... Make SR a lot bigger participant in the drama
3. Dont keep it too cartoon-like simple! Add the complexity! Make characters more layered. Every character here is so one-dimensional. Make them more complex. Baek Ho has to be made more complex. OK the dude is educated, smart, honest, loyal, and good hearted, and a nice person overall. Fantastic. But then he was made into a robot that blindly serves JM. WTH, BH IS NOT A SUPERMAN. Make him more human. Make him stand up to JM, have doubts, self reflect, etc. The way BH is written, he is incredibly simple and dumb, cartoon caricature "good guy", and that is the waste of character and waste of plot.
4. Use adequate actors for key roles! JH role was THE ONLY COMPLEX CHARACTER and the drama messed it up and gave the role to a very very very unskilled actor. That was a fatal flaw. It killed the drama.
5. Dont make it too dumb!!!! Dont make the plot out of total dumbness of the characters. Make them a little smarter. Then you can create a LOT more plot out of that, bc those smarter characters will be doing more interesting and varied things.
6. Make the dialogue count! make the monologues on self reflection! SHOW SOME CHARACTER GROWTH AND SELF REFLECTION!
7. Add some romance! BH and JM are supposedly a pair, but we never saw them even talk as a pair. Every real couple has get-togethers where they talk about their day, where they share about themselves and their thoughts, gossip about others, make plans, listen to each other, and show each other love. At least call each other honey and say I love you and hold hands. This drama had ZERO of that. BH kept kissing JM's as# and she stayed as cold as ice.
I dont see First Man on the MDL schedule for Friday... SO EVERYONE WHO SURVIVED THIS TORTURE MARATHON, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! After following this and dissecting it in detail, we are qualified to write / evaluate scripts :) This drama could have been so much better with just a few changes.
So anyways, WHAT THERAPEUTIC METHOD WILL YOU USE TO RECOVER FROM THIS DRAMA, AND HOW ARE YOU CELEBRATING THE END OF THIS?

Gosh, Graceful liar was 100% trash. Just before that, daily Queens House with the same FL was a very decent drama after ep 25 and actually a LOT better than this one I started watching this one bc this FL was also FL in Queen's House but oh boy this drama was mostly wasted, such poor script

I never subscribed to Neflix or Prime, but I was subscribed to Viki while I was in the USA and it *never* automatically dubbed anything. So: Are you somewhere outside of the USA? And is there some kind of setup on your account?
(Now I am not subscribed to Viki bc I am overseas visiting my family and Viki is not available here. I havent seen any platforms that automatically dub. I have seen dubbing by ppl on Daily motion and Bil Bili, and never in English, it is always Tagalog or Hindi etc).

Unfortunately.... since I have lived in the USA .... imo the USA is already so dumbed down and so drugged down that it is entirely possible that many ppl CANNOT read the subtitles... or just find it TOO DIFFICULT... it requires more brain activity that ppl are used to...
and yeah, it is also cultural whitewashing, totally ignoring that we are watching something from another world, and PREVENTING us thinking about those people,
bc in the USA, the center of the world is the USA and the rest of the world is some speck somewhere far away from where we bring oil and other resources, and if we bomb them to get it, etc, that's not a big deal
Listening in Korean would bring the drama closer to people's hearts and they would start making connections with that part of the world - and dubbing totally eliminates that
