Ah by chance I found out where this kind of hilarious humor and horsting around comes from, and also the scenes of enjoying food - Here is season 3 of High Kick, 2011 kdrama / sitcom, SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!! We need S Korea to make lots more stuff like this. https://goplay.su/4b2d3634393038333137/High-Kick-3/Episode-22/ The actors/actresses are absolutely beautiful healthy, no white powder on their faces, no skinny skeletons, no dead serious grumpy ppl and lack of communication and rich chaebol crimes. this is ordinary ppl living their ordinary lives, shown in MOST HILARIOUS ways, with smiles, plenty dialogues, etc Imo this is some of the best stuff S Korea has to show to the world, this is why kdramas got famous, and now Koreans are too greedy and chasing $$$$ and totally westernized their dramas and made them mostlybland.
Ik ik they don’t make sitcoms like that anymore. I miss sitcoms. Golden days
Imo if those audience laughters are removed, this is just a fun "regular" drama I am watching High Kick season 3 and enjoying it SO MUCH, laughing and having such fun. I love how the people look - they are so healthy, there are smiles, there is communication, there are plots from regular daily life, Nobody is wearing white powder on their face to look white, practically everyone has black hair and it looks so beautiful and their normal skin tone, and everyone has a strong good looking body. Everyone in that drama is 10000000x more good looking than actors now.
The humor and the dialogues are either deep or off the charts funny. Absolutely wonderful.
DO YOU KNOW ANY OTHER DRAMAS OF SIMILAR VIBE? I am goona dig through SkyLover86 watchlist and explore, he watches somwstly kdrama
Current kdramas are definitely Westernized, .... gloomy rich and beeautiful pl who are so flat serious BORING - and then the look - Like. FL in Sold Out on You has legs that look like 2 sticks arranged in an X. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING sexy, healthy and/or beautiful about her. And ML is totally poker faced grumpy like John Wayne. And younger audience is swooning over them and I am like ... wahaaaatt... the heck.... ????
I found 2011 kdrama High Kick season 1,2,3 and wow why Koreans dont make dramas like that anymore. Plus, no thick white powder on faces, and ppl with normal bodies, not skin and bnes like so many actors now. I found a gold mine watchlist by @SkyLord86
Actually, I am getting a lot out of this comments section, bc there are so many of us and with different "lenses" so it is interesting to me. Even more than the drama at this point - like the comments section is THE thing and the drama is just a tool.
Like we are a film/drama/art class discussing a show
Also, I think at this point the show COULD turn better - the writer decided to go more realistic and to put more skilled actors and better script at the forefront.
So for now we push aside the 1-D characters and we got bombs thrown into the ring - SH as well as YR. versus JH, HY and Dracula, the King Kong against Godzila plot coming to the forefront, (Lawyer Mom, is YR her initials?)
The writer gave up focusing on DumbMi and BH bc they are just rather flat and dumb characters. and the writer does not seem to have the slightest idea how to GROW them into something more complex. Also, the Chairman is pushed aside bc he too is a stale boring predictable 1-D character.
It would actually be rather simple to make these characters more complex and much more interesting - BH "just" needs to STAND UP to JM and never let her get away with laziness, brain turned off, lying, etc. "just" tell JM to turn on her brain, and keep reminding her until it becomes a habit. BH has to stand up to JM's laziness and JM has to be kicked in the butt to move her lazy as@ into action. JM lacks discipline, for one thing. And BH's worshiping even the sh.t that comes out of JM is making her more and more into a bigger and badder spoiled brat.
HY is one dimensional but her great acting makes her multi-dimensional. Also, she is the only real "strategist" here, she is working so hard to invent and do the next move and always be one step forward. HY has been perfected into a perfect sociopathic villain. PERFECT. The writer is 100% on it :) must know such cases very well :) and HY actress is very capable and perfect.
Dracula is a complex character too bc he DOES have that polish and finesse and "love" but also - he is a serial killer too and an accomplice - can that actor pull it off ? hm... I think he can. He and HY need to explode and be cleared out :)
YR is a rather simple yet potentially very complex character and that actress is totally masterful so ... lets see what she can pull off...
MopHead aka Professor is actually ItchyPants as @Shinubi named him, bc he really is a Di.k character, she speaks and behaves and thnks like one and that's that. He is a tragicomic character :) giving voice to such a prominent body part :) Well, he does have some dad left in him but maybe any D also has that... And the actor is masterful at it so he provides comic relief lmao
SR is likely dead, since JM and SH felt it. It is actually a good thing for the plot bc SR was playing with explosives and matches and no wonder she blew herself out. SR is a good lesson in karma :)
IF SR was smart enough and staged everything that would be awesome, and so super makjang cheesy lmao But... where would she be now... ?
and.. did JH save her? His mental state does not make it likely
JH plot is soooo rich is it is totally tragic that an actor with very little skiils is assigned to that role. ON THE OTHER HAND, since JH is truly a cold cruel loner person, and the script did NOT provide chances for him to wrestle with the moral dilemmas, then .... this cold stiff unskilled actor is the next best choice for the role. Very 1-D... omg this role could have been amazing... !!!!! but is not :(
The IDEAL ACTOR for this role is someone who can act that dilemma, that push-pull between his good genes and his bad genes, that inner fight between the good and the bad. And the ideal script would have provided opportunities for this battle. JM, Ma, and BH families did NOTHING to help JH to stay on course, so JH was left alone to his own devices, so it was easy for HY to put a spell on him, and anyone is too weak against HY. That is a major major hole in the script, such a trash script.
JH ON HIS OWN STOOD NO CHANCE AGAINST HY's GASLIGHTING. The drama gave him NO help so he fell so fast and easy - and so the drama is flat and boring. There had to be more contraversy inside him
***** HY IS THE ONLY CHARACTER WRITTEN WELL HERE lmao HY is also 1-D character but at least a masterful 1-D sociopath. HY is super good in flaming the fire of evil inside anyone, she finds their weak spot, their egotistical desire, and just feeds it with lies and manipulation until the person surrenders to her. She is like an anaconda - coils around you and eats you alive... . and there is no way out on your own.... someone must stand by you and help you. *****
So wll Dracula be able to escape the death's grip with the help of YR? I think not :) I think she will make a dent in his insanity and he will try to fight a little bit, but I dont think he is capable of escaping HY for real - now or later. He seems far too gone.
HY's best choice is to die from being beaten in jail. However, the last time her pps beat up the jailmates, so I am not sure anyone will beat her next time. I am not sure if it worth it keeping HY alive bc she really is way too far out and will never be able to come back. She should die, but with some remorse.
So yeah HY watching JH suffer and die - feeling remorse - and then she die herself seems appropriate. THE WORST THING that could happen is that JH and HY die fast, still feeling entitled and angry and wanting to "win" and "get" - it would send them into the next life again as serial killers... They need to have ONE moment that will help them take the turn onto the road less traveled :) Dracula can become "the best life sentence inmate" and sweep the floors etc
JH has the genes of 2 murderers, has a history of being abandoned, living in orphanage, being (unintentionally?) starved - but how is that possible, wouldnt kiddo JH ask his parents for more food??? seems like they intentionally abused him, then dumped him bc of leukemia, so ... back to orphanage... !!!! with leukemia !!!!! then new adoptive parents... hospital .... and then growing up NEVER ACCEPTING LOVE - JH just shared the house with BH's family and never *was* a part of the family The family was too ordinary
More time with SH could have changed JH enough to be a decent man Just like it changed SR slightly - but since SR spent too little time with SH, the changes in SR were too small..
Sorry this is too long i am putting it into spoiler
Jang‑Mi felt Seo‑Rin’s death before anyone spoke it aloud and so did her mother. A sharp, invisible blow…
yes this should be epic. Like King Kong fights Godzila scale BUT JH actor is such an unskilled actor, he will probably ruin it. But this plot is a goldmine of richness
btw What are your 2nd, 3d, etc favorites? Thanks
Which ones are the best in your opinion?
What a waste of acting ability of this actor
He is such a super creative expressive actor
I like his Shopping King Luis
these poker faced roles are so boring. No acting
ps - Right now they are doing dirty like that to ML in Sold Out on You
and zillion dailies, 30 mins each M T W Th Fr
The only way to show multiple generations families, MANY characters and MANY stories, and going deeply and for a long time
Currently, highly recommended daily Our Happy Life - no revenge and no crazy plots
and old dailies like High Kick Season 1, 2, 3 20 min episodes, about 120 eps
Old weekend dramas like Once Again, My Father is Strange, perhaps ALl About My Mother, Five Enough, Iron Family,
and current Recipe for Love
