My review described a lot better the male worshipping attitude in PC.

A lot of cdramas I tried to watch are "idol dramas" in the sense that they idolize ... pretty males, rich ppl, powerful ppl, and in general, material wealth and power. There is a certain warmth missing, a certain lightness, and there is never any jestering. They cannot :(
Most costume/ historial cdrama as many of other cdramas are like a chinese military parade, ah so self-important flashy display

kdramas too have lots of sexism.. and also portray rich and powerful... HOWEVER kdramas make fun of them and show that it is not something to be aspired to ALTHOUGH it is important to have power and clout.
Something like that is not possible to film in China :) as simple as that.

So that is WHY I am curious what you consider very intelligent conversations when the whole concept of Chinese governance is STAGNATION i.e. obedience to the current regime, not moving forward
into a better tomorrow as a true democracy

Chinese love mind games, and even "funny videos" on social media are about playing pranks on each other. but I find that totally totally distasteful horrifying cringe. Because it encourages ppl to be each other's enemies and to put each other down. Very communist idea... leads to Stasi files (E Germany) and sending ppl to labor and concentration camps (Russia, China, all Eastern block) and/or "cancels them" (all of the above plus most of the West)

So yes please give me SPECIFIC INTELLIGENT DIALOGUES and I promise to check them out. I am very interested to see what you consider "intelligent" .

I will give you an example of a super intelligent, great dialogue from a very trashy kdrama rom com Would you Marry Me. The FL finds her malicious cheater liar ex hosting a malicious press conference against her and her new boyfriend. Before anyone gets there, she meets the ex in the conference room and tells him - "I wish you stop doing this because you are harming yourself and causing trouble for everyone, and it pains me to see you suffer. I wish you to find peace and to move on and live a happy life." and she says that HONESTLY.
And he listens to her and leaves. The way she said it was profound. And she gets married to the new guy and lives happily ever after.
Eseentially, she conveyed in practice the entire story of Jesus betrayed, Jesus on the cross, his forgiveness and resurrection. ALl in that ONE SENTENCE. That is masterful imo. The entire trash rom com was worth watching just for that one scene.

That description of world politics in 2025 kdrama Tempest happens in the middle of a later episode when the bombing is inevitable and US White House is in uproar. I forgot which episode that is but I can find out. It is also in my comments on that drama. It is 100% correct assessment - BUT WITHOUT A SOLUTION :) as usual :)

IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION, I DO NOT CONSIDER IT GREAT :) if it at least correctly assesses the problem, sure it is smart. But to be great, it has to be life changing, impactful TRANSFORMATIONAL something that grabs you and changes how you think and feel and your actions from then on

Everything that you suggested as "great dialogue" is related to shallow subjects - the specialty of cdramas. To me, a great dialogue is related to TRANSFORMATION, not to people outding each other in politicking. But perhaps what you are suggesting has it?

For me to understand your point, PLEASE TELL ME WHICH DIALOGUE YOU CONSIDER REALLY EXCELLENT. I promise, I will find it and watch it.

And, it is not kdrama rom-com fans :) cdramas have plenty of cheesy rom-com too :) but in less sophisticated way... There are tons of sexist trashy kdramas that get copied - like, the "overbearing CEO and poor loser kind girl" trope.

Cdramas seem like counterfeit kdramas. Many cdramas make it look as if it is happening in Korea or Europe.

As for PoJ fans on MDL who are also kdrama rom com lovers, they probably are cdrama lovers too, and they are probably coming from watching Hwood and brought their habits to asian dramas,

and new kdramas cater to them and are starting to look totally like hwood - climax, practical guide to love, honor, etc etc etc are all hwood feel. I am not sure you can see it though :)

cdramas and hwood dramas/movies have a lot in common. They do not leave space for questions and investigations - you are given something that is ah so serious and important, and "true" without any questioning. That is why HUMOR is totally lacking. I mean real humor, not just prancing around. The jester-like humor.

So that is why I question how intelligent cdrama dialogue can be when there is such heavy censorship and lots of "pretend that the emperor has no clothes"

I am a kdrama fan - so if I dont like this new drama, it is a serious dislike. Lately I have been dropping too many kdramas bc they are hwood-like, just like this drama, and I am concerned that real kdramas are going extinct. Climax, Practical Guide to Love, etc etc were all major flops, even most of Our Universe,

I am gonna stick to Mad Concrete Dreams bc it is a real kdrama of top quality, and Recipe for Love bc it is also a top notch classic. Surprisingly daily First Man is not bad and maybe even Our Happy Days and Pearl In Red. Cabbage Your Life is ... well... a mixed bag.
Other than that, I dont see anything else kdrama worth watching now and I AM CONCERNED.

It is too long to write what I tried. The last ones are POJ, Rainless Land, and Oh Here Comes Trouble. I ran out fast.

I liked only Stephen Chow movies from Hong Kong, Xuan Zhang movie, and c-k colab drama Making Family, I did not REALLY like Bond but at least it was a decent slice-of-life without transformations and messages and LEARNING ie it was ... too shallow but acted well.

I also added Mozart from Space to my fav list although the acting is CRINGE and the plot is often what I described - silly cheap childish forced

I really get the impression cdramas are as if acting in front of some comrades and having to fanagle something acceptable

I tried watching too many cdramas to find all of them totally devoid of any lightness, humor, and meaningful deep plots and acting. The plots and dialogues are childish and crude, acting is all fake and "pretend", the overall tone is overly serious and DRAMATIC BOMBASTIC, and there is just lots of fast whizzing by flashy scenes and that's it.

In short - a typical cdrama looks and feels like a chinese military parade
OR like a cheap cheesy "comedy"
OR like a kdrama-look-alike counterfeit but very very cheap

Even a rare decent cdrama like Bond which at least has some meanigful dialogues, plot and acting, is devoid of ANY transformation and any meaning except for bare physical survival.

POC is worse than Princess hours bc both ML and FL are smart psychos, they are mentally ill bullies, from what I can tell. The new trend of portraying men and women being equally nasty.

Princess Hours has bully ML and a pushover dumb FL, ie the usual sexist plot, and is a total trash imo. The content is cheesy trash. Its only value is a great fashion show and furniture show.

based on ep 1, I would say this is an old time kdrama and I love it!
it is really funny and has some deep messages

I need to watch further to see if it holds up. Some ppl say the second half is worse and some say it is better.
Seems like the first half is all the eye candy boys and 2nd half is an excellent and competent but not pretty ML actor in a role that is too simple for him

SO ML IS ALREADY MARKED AS "SIGNIFICANT" in her life in the very first 10 episodes of the drama...
By the middle of the drama, we know she "hates" him so much she sticks a plastic figure to hurt him; and he likes her so much to sit 5 minutes and wait LOOKING AT HER RELAXING :)

There is a LOT of humor in this and I am wondering if Netflix really nailed it this time... ? They also nailed The Dream Life of Mr. Kim so perhaps ... Netflix is not all failures like Disney+ is..

I notice that this drama has many of my fav actors. Yoon is one of my favs, ML too, and also the App Manager.

THAT scene is not humor :)
Humor means it is permeating the drama. THIS ONE "COMICAL" thing does not count as humor in the drama :)

Also, it is not even funny. It is a bombastic shocking thing... like showing the guns of ML and him pretending to shoot his friend... ... So here... A mad dog is barking... i dont consider it humor. It is a psychotic exhibition of FL's incessant desire to rule. I consider it something for a psych ward :)

The FL character has no humor whatsoever and is a total psychopath, and ML character seems psychotic too.
