I just learned today that she is some kind of idol, another user posted she is Hani from Exid. So no wonder she cannot act. KBS seems to want free advertising so it puts idols into FL role in almost every weekender since 2020.... and all those dramas flopped imo a huge reason bc FL could not act

So this drama went into a smelly cesspool, which is to be expected, since ML-FL are really immature so no good plot can happen by definition..
- she messed up, lied and ran away, stole the kid, lied to the kid and bsed and manipulated the kid to keep his mouth shut, lied and bsed to ML when he finally found her. Then ML messed up and did not handle it properly. As Minna said, ML and FL were orbiting each other, but never talked honestly.

I was overreacting because I was expecting it to drag on like in some other dramas that caused me trauma lol I am First Man survivor!!!! I watched FL named DumbMi and side cement character SourFace .... with lots of fast forwarding and essentially hate watching to see **what else could possibly be done wrong to that drama?? *** and always finding more hideous stupid plots. Yikes Recipe for Love also started great and got stuck in the muck... and then in the last 2 episodes, resolved it all with a magic wand... Such a disappointment and waste of great actors... There are quite a few other dramas I dropped recently bc they go into a smelly swamp and STAY there.... Which, in retrospect, is a favor to myself, bc I dont have time to watch everything.

So I learned to give a little bit of chance, maybe up to 3-5 initial episodes of trash, or 2-3 in the middle, and DROP if there is no signs of moving forward. Even if the drama is kinda ok but not stellar, I just stop. Recently I just stopped watching Apartment Job and Bona Fide Killer - bc the dramas were meaningless, what was their message... ?? both glorify criminal behaviors

hey she is the FL next to a super fantastic ML actor, and all actors in this drama are very good. She is sticking like a sore thumb. Dont put down weekend dramas.
Seems like KBS does "free advertising" by putting an idol into the FL role and that is a key to messing up most of recent KBS weekenders - the FLs were unskilled actors

To summarize: it is ok that ML and FL are two immature people and in a toxic tragic relationship because they are so immature and stupid - it is OK AS LONG AS THE PLOT IS MOVING ON AND THEY KEEP PUTTING EFFORT TO GROW AND CHANGE. Those two are gonna have quite a few episodes to grow up and clean up their messes. GR messed up in the past (bc he kept secrets, she lied) and he couldnt do anything about it, and then GR messed up now and he mishandled it. They are NOT gonna be lovey dovey from the first second, and it is ok. The interesting part of their story is HOW THEY PUT EFFORT TO MOVE FORWARD. Bc clearly they are shipping. Right now there is no trust, communication, honest talks between them, and both are prone to delusions and choosing an easy way out and using people, i.e. their boat is all full of holes, the sails are broken, the rudder is broken, it is a disaster, and they as sailors have all broken limbs and a bad case of scurvy. WE WANT TO SEE THEM HEAL AND REPAIR THE BOAT TOGETHER AND SAIL AWAY

EP 10 ends with cliffhanger GR saying "otoke?? what do I do???"
and my answer is: GR ACTRESS NEEDS TO TAKE A CRUSH COURSE IN ACTING. SHE IS THE ONLY BAD ACTOR IN THIS CAST. EVERYONE ELSE IS STELLAR. SHE IS THE FL AND HAS TO BE UP TO PAR!!!! YET SHE IS STILL STIFF AND OBVIOUSLY PRETENDING. SO SHE HAS TO PRACTICE "BEING THE CHARACTER". Also ML actor is super good and he is stuck with an inadequate FL. SO FL actress has to improve asap bc there will be lots of scenes of ML-FL reconciliation and if FL actress stays this bad, she is gonna ruin the drama.

I wish the drama to succeed so THE ONLY WAY FORWARD IS FOR GR ACTRESS TO QUICKLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE HER ACTING SKILLS. - can she leave her egotism aside even for a second? We want to see Gyu Rim. We dont want to see some random person pretending to be Gyu Rim.

YAY!... we lucked out!!!! THIS DRAMA IS DONE PROPERLY!!!! YAY TO THE SCRIPT WRITER! The cringe clog started to unwind at the pace that provided the necessary teaser and twist and the relief, without any dragging. What a relief this drama is not dragging the sh.t! The drama is done well, it moved on at the proper pace.

Messy toxic relationship and stupid actions between two immature people IS ALL OK as it provides drama for the drama - IF it does not drag too long :)
If toxic plot drags too long, it suffocates and kills the drama... I was overreacting bc I was so worried that this drama will die like many other dramas did...

Hm I will have to recheck what I wrote, bc yes sometimes we need help to see something we couldnt see on our own bc we were just blind to the issue - in this category would be, for example, a native Korean lecturing us on social norms in Korea -

and also - always - we benefit from hearing other's perspective because it helps us deepen what we were already thinking and/or expressing it into words,
so yes in that sense it helps us see something we couldnt see on our own.
- for example, when you and others were saying something, I was able to put it into words WHY FL annoys me - she essentially stole the kid from his father and then manipulated the kid to keep his mouth shut
Or when you and I were talking about FL dad-ML's mom pair, the whole issue came "to the front of my mind" and I could explain how he is barging into her personal space - and staying there lmao

So NO MATTER WHAT, a good conversation is a must, it is a tool that changes our life, makes things clearer :)

I was even thinking it would be even fun to write a script together but I am not sure I am good at it. Bc the script writer has to come up with all kinds of funky situations and twists and I doubt I would be good at that.

. I am probably really good if someone already has a story and then I help the rearrange it in proper time and improve the scenes and maybe add or subtract. Maybe I am good as the idea person / organizer / revisor rather than original content creator.

The original content creator has to be someone with lots of experiences socially, and get ideas from that.
I am a loner and so I would be a great content creator for a drama about a spiritual aspirant seeking enlightment lmao or any person trying to grow
But you need many other roles in the drama and the interactions that are less than enlightened lmao I would have hard time thinking about bad moves. It just does not interest me :) I am trying as I am writing this and my only and genuine thought / feeling is - that is a waste of time :) I want to LEARN something positive :) But as I am writing these reviews, it is obvious I have many ideas for improvement of existing stories. So maybe someone will find me useful.

Only KBS has them, and only one at the time. "Weekend drama"
The only way to have a plot that spans multiple families, generations, and zillion intertwined plots over a very long time, the most complex, diverse and detailed stories and the most characters and side plots.

In a 16-ep drama, there is ML-FL, SML, SFL, maybe a few parents or kids and side roles.. and that's it. The story has to be fast..... In a weekender or daily, there are grandmas and grandpas, uncles, aunties, neighbors, .... and lots of details about them.
Look at this drama, we have ML-FL-kid story but also stories of their 2 parents - and parent's 3 spouses and kid, ... ML-FL's 4 siblings... ML's friend and SFL, restaurant mom and son, ,,,, etc all ppl from their work etc ... and it is all intertwined.

Also, weekend dramas and dailies are the only chance to see all kinds of new and old actors, new upcoming stars, amazing veterans, real looking ppl, ppl who dont look all "fashionably prettied up" fake with plastic surgery and dieting, and to see some funky unhinged characters, and some funky unhinged acting as well as scenes from daily life. There are TONS of super great actors who are not considered A-tier anymore or who have paused for a while and come back and who find their way into weekenders and dailies, and also brand new actors. A-tier short dramas are for super young and beautiful or some veterans like Crush Landing on You ML. But there are ZILLION of other actors who are just fantastic - and you get to see them here!!!
Like the ML actor in this drama hasnt filmed a drama for a while, and he is a fantastic actor

So I would say the greatest diversity, nicest looking ppl and best acting by NUMEROUS actors can be found in weekenders and dailies.
Like in this drama. FL actress is the only bad actor here. The rest are all masterful actors, esp ML actor

As long as there is toys and sales, to me this drama is essentially a product placement
and it is for industry which I do not support

Imo ML's mom needs some s.x and some fun she was a controlling head nun for how many years now.
The dad is sexy and knows how to have fun but not reliable and mature enough

The metaphor of their meeting in the restaurant shows it all - he is enjoying himself having fun at a good eatery, and she is there bc she is suffering and has no appetite and she sits there all solemn

Unfortunately, she is so cemented that only someone as clueless as him can crack that
He is so rude and crude that he gives her his food, to a total stranger. He barged straight through her defense wall lmao
so.... the two meet exactly at their own level , they are both super flawed lmao

so there will be some major growing up to do and I am not sure how far they will get....
