wow this sounds like a total carnage, so brutal. Ppl said it is a masterpiece but ... It is the same old story of some psycho causing carnage and then zillion good ppl dying to stop further carnage.... How many times have we seen this so far in real life?? WW2 comes to mind... a story is interesting only when the main character wrestles with some problems, keeps self reflecting, and keeps trying in better and better ways until he/she/they win. And the win has to be something meaningful and "good". In the West, many "stories" are about main characer trying and failing and giving up. That is not a story, that is propaganda lmao to crush people's spirits and make them complacent. A true story has to show good winning over evil and that obtained by the EFFORTS of the main characters.
And this drama totally lacks any efforts. All characters but HJ are so one-dimensional, set on their course without any doubts and self reflection. NOBODY IN THIS DRAMA DOES SELF REFLECTION AND CHARACTER GROWTH except HJ. All other characters are STALE AND STUCK. So yeah it is boring, the script is made by lots of external actions and mind games between 4 gangs which are fighting to get Adelle. The 4 gangs are JR, Chairman, Chloe and Aunt. MJ, YN, and HJ switch sides as they see fit at the moment. So everyone is STUCK in this mind game trying to outdo the other teams.
NOBODY IS GROWING
So the drama is like a chess game instead of a story. And any time there is a drama like that, it has to depend on creating crazier and crazier script
The solution is to resort to simple interactions in daily life and SHOW THE CHARACTERS. The solution is to show Chloe wrestling with her BJ identity and love for MJ and growing compassion of HJ... to show Aunt/Mom wrestling with her 30 yrs of nothing and her relation and lies with MJ... MJ wrestling with his aliances and Chloe betraying him.... We now see the Chairman wrestlign with the realization that BOTH his wives are liars lmao it would be fun to resolve that by him marrying Yu Na lmao
The story has to have characters have higher aspirations, wrestle with problems, try to fix it, fail, self reflect, try again, UNTIL they succeed and in that, transform. In that process the relationships must grow. A lot of growth comes from overcoming personal clashes and conflicts.
Daily Our Happy Days is doing that and is very high quality
In this drama, Aunt lies to MJ so she and MJ have NO RELATIONSHIP, they never get to face each other Chloe and James also have no real relationship, he never really stands up to her. Chloe is shown as an isolated blind liar who has servant to help her. Aunt too she is just a more careful blind liar. MJ is shown as isolated as well. His closest relationship was HJ and that was cut by HJ. But we never see MJ missing HJ or either one trying to restore the relationship.
Overall, they are all isolated mind-driven characters so of course they are boring. We are watching a chess game. HJ is interesting, and JR sometimes, when she shows complexity like when she was telling HJ to marry out of love, and Chairman is interesting sometimes like now, both wives are bad lmao and he is confused.
Chairmans' secretary betrayed Chairman and came back with the help of Aunt but that was never used to create interesting plot

The cameraman tried to help it by showing more of YN actress, who is pretty but that is not enough, since her role is so ... flat....

Now they have the code to the safe and will try to steal the will, house deed or whatever. They are CRIMINALS and they are after G's inheritance and all grandpa's assets. AND GRANDPA DOES NOT KNOW. So Dai Chi and his wife are very dangerous as they are still very well camouflaged.
Dai Chi and his wife are two criminals in white gloves, they cheat, lie and steal. They want money that G is supposed to inherit. And, G is stuck having contact with them as relatives as long as grandpa and grandma are alive.
Dai Chi and his wife are criminals who see themselves in a competition with G for company ownership and inheritance money. THEY WANT IT ALL FOR THEMSELVES. And they use crime to get it.
So, Dai Chi and his wife are the main enemies of G and... so they will try to trip G and thus EA in every way possible.
G cannot leave grandpa and grandma, so he will be stuck with Dai Chi and his wife ..... And, his grandpa will probably leave him the company or at least something that will make G clash with Dai Chi and his wife..
MH is also a relative that G is stuck with, and MH could cause problems, but is not gonna be as bad as Dai Chi and his wife, who are CRIMINALS, they steal and cheat..

Omg what an amazing drama!!!! I saw only 3 eps so far and the setup is great. I read the reviews that say that from ep 5 this turns into makjang. Well. I will find out later if that is true, and is so, then I will stop watching, what I saw is enough to make me happy.
ML actor is fascinating, bc he can look anything from really mean nasty gangster all the way to very gentle child. I dont think I saw him anywhere else I started actively watching in 2019.
This was filmed before plastic surgery and dieting to super skinny and bleached hair and pale faces. ML is super handsome and more manly and good looking than any of the the modern metrosexual manicured plasticized dudes. And the houses have a lot brighter colors and a lot more wood. It is FASCINATING to see the REAL Korean drama.
Also, the WARMTH, this is much warmer and "humane" than modern kdramas, which tend to be very bland, with many main characters being poker faced, and family and community not important.
yeah sure in this drama, ML actor is the only really good actor in the kimchi family, but he is so good at acting that he is able to carry the drama.. The only poker faced in the drama are Uncle and Dad, and they are minor characters. The thugs and villains actors are great
Speaking of fashion, SR's younger brother looks AMAZING in that Asian style dark top and dark pants with white t-shirt underneath. WOW. That's the best he looked so far! The color is not pitch black but very dark soft gray, I am not sure how it was made. The cut is extremely comfortable and practical, short lose "jacket" top and baggy pants. LOOKS GREAT. Something lke that would be good for women too, it looks super comfortable and wearable anywhere
I love Dai Chi's pink suits :) it reallllly fits his character. He is quite a fun villain. He looks like... a gay Frenchman with affectionations of an old fat FEMALE socialite grand dame lmao He is just missing a big horse-races hat with flowers lmao

Dai Chi is this "fat affectionating grand dame", a loving husband who acts as a policeman and coach to his wife too, and a very cold cruel calculated THIEF, a very sly brutal RAT. He is fun to watch but he is ..... a very dangerous malicious spoiled brat. A rat - stealing food, creating poop, and carrying diseases.
And his wardrobe is PERFECT, totally PERFECT for his character. I am totally delighted
