As a leader, he has such good abilities and he is fair, no doubt, but absolutely low EQ. so i searched what are the other types of intelligence. there's IQ and EQ, and SQ - social quotient, AQ- adversity quotient. I think he marks high on the adversity quotient only, which means one’s ability to overcome challenges or adversity.

i think the baby is really the palcheoki. it seems the guy who retrieve the baby is a royal soldier. this checks out the 100 year timeframe. i watched ep 1 and it seems there's a political warfare going on, this affects the village which is burning. the narrator says it also affected gangcheori's ascension to some extent. the ghost in the present as of latest ep while possesing the blind shaman, asks gangcheori why he is blaming him for the failed ascension, it was not his fault seeing the dragon. and something about the royal family should be blamed. so my theory is that the war/village ransack happened 100 years ago caused by the royal family. the baby who saw gangcheol was retrieved by a soldier, and raised to become a general. over time, the famine, caused by gangcheori because he hated the humans, caused the royal family to wage wars, with the general who will eventually become the 8 foot tall ghost. he dies with a grudge against the royal bloodline.
this is just a theory. and we'll know for sure next week with the suceeding episodes.

as a modern day person, it's specially touching to hear modern day music in historical dramas i watch hahahah. way to cut the tension, and stress from watching the recent episodes. and they chose a good piece too, it fits the scene.
there is a good mix of atmosphere in each ep. can't take if it's all scheming and other boring stuff, love that they make this Wei Yan a grey character.
hope they keep this up, as long as they don't overdo it.

true i agree with this. she is far better because she is courageous to actively assist. and is not a coward.. she would even take a sword to her neck if it means putting on an act with WS for the better good of the Xindu people. i really like this FL type, clever, courageous, calm, and also uses coy and charm as a weapon.

it seems Wei Yan just wants the Qiao out of the picture. he doesn't hate the Wei's, and finding out that he is actually half Bianzhou, i think. the spy servant keeps calling him heir? he wants to unite Bianzhou and Yanjun. and he seems to truly care for Wei Shao as a brother.

i noticed that too, but i liked it. gives more edge to his character.

in short, the Qiaos were playing safe.

i think it seems the Qiao are just not warmongers. They help other clans regarding supplies, irrigation, agriculture, etc. however, not with wars.
If they helped the Wei's during that time, they could lose and even their military is not strong. They chose not to intervene. And if they lost, they could get invaded as well.
However, Liu Yan really intened to harm people and is even using her and Panyi to accomplish his evil plan. She was at the scene during that time and has the means to prevent it. so she did. She still reflects the Qiaos as a peace loving clan.

i think his playboy reputation is an act. he is very cunning and clever for doing that, he hides his potential and eliminates suspicion easily. also his kinship with Wei Shao is an advantage especially if he just started to oppose the Wei clan. he's dangerous for that, and the only thing that can save them is if he still cares even just a little bit for them as a family.

it seems the book has a reincarnated storyline too.

he is creepy. he set his sights on her, he has many concubines and those concubines got jealous, one tattled about him to WS. what triggered WS jealousy and anger is finding out his brother is keeping a painting of XQ and masturbating on it. he's gross.

reminds me of Black, where the male lead is possessed by a grim reaper. the female lead there sees deaths instead of spirits.
in both, the main guy is actually the spirit (grim reaper, imugi), but he's using the body of an innocent guy who has a faint connection with the female lead.
also the sageuk aspect is akin to Alchemy of Soul's however that one is more of an idol drama.
