I am playing and half-watching Taeyeon's MV for Moonlovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo as I type this. That was a train…
She wasn't accomplished, though. 13th had to step in to help her overcome a brain freeze.

Imho, the writer-nim did quite a bad job with the characterization of the FL.

This is a miss for this hardcore BBJX fan.

It's getting too draggy with all the evil plots by the evil stepsister. When will the evil stepsister die?
I am playing and half-watching Taeyeon's MV for Moonlovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo as I type this.
That was a train wreck vis-a-vis BBJX but this iteration/re-imagination has got to be the worst of the lot.
At least for Ryeo, we had the absolutely bangin' OSTs and the too-hot-to-trot chemistry between WangWook and Haesu. Here the visuals for XiaoWei cannot be compared to that of IU, nevermind Cecilia Liu.
That's right. It's all about the visuals because the plot (up until Ep 20 per the trailer) is just meh.

Merry Xmas, Chingus!

Our Stairway to Heaven opens in 3 days ... am playing the OST tracks while I wait.

The song by Ra.L has distinctly Scandinavian/Swiss vibes.

My Xmas Wish: please let the weekend arrive ASAP. Palli Palli!

Amnesia, another way to drag the story. I'll watch again when its completed.
I think you are in for a long wait if you wish for the demise of the sister. Because she is supposed to marry the 14th. She'd be around for quite a long while, unfortunately.

I'm probably one of the odd ones out when I say this but, I'm having a hard time getting into this drama, whilst…
Another thing before I go: it's possible to love the OST when though the drama is meh to you.

The lineup of singers is absolutely daebak: Davichi, 10cm, Crush, Baek Yerin, Yoon Mirae and Crush. I find myself revisiting the songs from Davichi and Crush from the k-drama "It's Okay, That's Love" these past few days. Good times.

I got the information on the lineup through a live thread on Soompi w.r.t. this drama.

Ciao.

They have actually found another unwelcome way to drag the story. This has 40 episodes. Something extremely big happens during episode 20 ... I am so flabbergasted that I think I would stop checking the trailers ....

does anyone know what time the episodes are uploaded on netflix (in KST)? :D
It uploads after the said episode has been aired in its entirety in Korea + sometime for Netflix to act. 2 hours after the start, thereabouts. I know because I watched Ep 3 last night and not this morning.

Don't beat yourself up over this. I couldn't get into "You from Another Star" but was and still is rabidly fanatical about "Legends of the Deep Blue Sea". Go figure.

That said, I love this to bits. I did not like "Memories of the Alhambra" which was apparently critically acclaimed: this is another way of saying that I am not here because of Hyun Bin.

Last but not least, I have been extremely pleasantly surprised by "Evernight", "The Untamed", "Sword Dynasty" and now this ... as a drama addict whose days until February 2020 are paved with rainbows and unicorns, I hope that you can find your crack drama to help you get to that state.

They won't end together. It's impossible. Even for Kdramaland.
, my guess is that you are deep in-the-money. I am betting that you are right.

Because Netflix. Its Genre tag? "Romantic TV Comedies".

I have started watching the Korean drama "Crash Landing on You" on Netflix and I must say that the chemistry between the leads is "inchoate-and-soon-to-be-flaming" romance. Smexy.

What we have here is puppy love. There are plenty of fishes in the sea ... see you around!

"high fives"

Other than the 13th, 14th and 4th, all the other princes are about as lackluster as wallpaper and disposable too.

Another reason I am outta here is that we are going to have some kitty-clawing from the resident villianess soon ... she's a fine and scary looking character which is a testament to her superior acting skills but I seriously have enough of that from real life. Why import that into reel?
On Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty Dec 17, 2019
Guys, it's not a remake. It's a reimagining of what might have happened to BBJX if:

1. The MLs were the 13th prince + 14th prince + 4th prince instead of the 4th and 8th in BBJX.

2. BBJX's FL who is full of sass and smarts is swapped for a candy with a whole lot of spunk but absolutely none of the intelligence. It's true. She admitted as much and the ML comforted her by saying that she could afford to be dumber and still be fine because he had her back. "roll eyes"/"swoons"? Your choice.

3. While Ruoxi in BBJX was resolute in love et. al. when she dropped one prince for the other, Xiaowei is seen as a ditherer and not an equal to the boys in her interactions, imho.

I watched episodes 1-8, skipping 3,4 and 5 and watched all the available trailers at tencent's offical website before coming to this conclusion.

Still, there are some bright sparks. I'd be watching the progress of the thespian playing the 13th prince in the years ahead. He seems to have the elusive star quality that is inherent in leading men.

Update: For BBJX fans willing and able to recalibrate their expectations, this can be worthy of a watch. Just understand that the FL is diametrically opposite to Ruoxi. I plan to drop in from time to time to see the 4th, 13th and 14th. Everyone else is just air to me.

Indeed the ladies are great until they start raving about "THAT MAN". From what I saw I don't know what the fuss…
Yes, I am aware that "that man" is meant to denote "Liang Jing Meng". As for why they are so cagey about it, perhaps his name can serve as a rallying call/cry to his admirers; to suppress any attempts from said admirers to take up cudgels against the authorities, his name must remain unspoken. My 2 cents.

I am not sure if I am mistaken but there seems to be signs that the ML is actually the reincarnated self of "that man". My hunch. Did not read the source material and have no plans to do so.

Am enjoying this while it lasts.

The fact that those ladies are actually adults/mature females in the source novel compared to younger females…
I agree with your reasoning.

Been looking at the trailers for "Love and Redemption", "Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty" and have come to the realization that my drought would start where this ends, which is 20 episodes later.

Do you have any recommendations w.r.t. Wuxia c novels where the "FL" and other supporting characters are not cardboard-type candies?

These novels can be in Chinese and need not be translated. I can get my iPhone to read to me. BL novels are fine too because love is love is love.

Say, aren't you on holiday? Have a good break, Sunbae.

Hmm ... "that man" is basically code for "he who must not be named". Kind of like Voldemort from Harry Potter.

They are his followers but no one's really raving. That's my understanding anyway.
On Sword Dynasty Dec 8, 2019
I have to say: the ladies are killing it here.

Major props to the putative evil/badass females here:
1. YeCeLeng's fighting sequences are gold.
2. BaiShanShui's a close second. Her upward sweeping brows and kohl eyeliner? Evil personified.
3. The thespian playing the Empress is doing a helluva good job: we all want to scratch HRH's eyes out, don't we?

LYT? Goes without saying that she is probably one of the best in her cohort. Her character here is a huge departure from her turn as a gauche naif in Royal Nirvana.

Dropped that as well as Joy of Life.

This is the Wuxia drama that I have been waiting for. "Dreaming back to Qing" might be worth a look once it lands but this is my crack drama for now. Yippee now the drought is over.

Title The Untamed
Zhu Zan Jin plays Jin Guang Yao the evil big boss.
Xue Yang? Wang Hao Xuan is the thespian you are looking for. He's listed as part of the cast here in a "Support Role".

@enigmatic_zephy

I signed in so that I can upvote you. The ending seems a bit off and you have explained the niggling discomfiture in a way that I couldn't have.

Thank you for that. And your other comment above.

It is an open ending, rather than a straight HE.
