I am surprised by the remarkably high quality of this series.
It's VERY well acted, and the scenes are blocked incredibly well. The lighting is perfect, and delivery of each character's dialogue is NATURAL, which I am SO happy about considering the truly awful dialogue techniques so many Thai BLs use. (Meaning the long pauses for a change in camera angle, the awkward cuts in the middle of sentences, the long drawn out "Well, I......." or "Ummm......" and then just weird silence until the other actor finally remembers they were supposed to interrupt the first actor / character and speak, etc.)
Also, the great songs they used in Ep 1, and again in Ep 2 have been thoughtfully chosen to help create moods. Definitely not the usual (and usually bad) kind of music many Thai BLs use.
Wow, wow, wow. Even with only 2 Eps so far, I'm giving this a 9 for now. I hope this series maintains that kind of rating - not just from me, but other viewers too.
liking it so far but I'm noticing a lot BL have smoking scenes back in day before we knew the risk of cancer it…
There has been a SIGNIFICANT increase in smoking scenes in Asian dramas in general over the last year, but especially BLs. It has **REALLY** been noticeable. And it bothers me, too.
It's much more mature than a BL, and no, I don't mean mature as in sex.
I mean it deals with mature subjects like divorce, among other things. The two main leads are a gay couple, but their intimate relationship is not a focus of the series. Their relationship is just a simple fact that does play into one of the story arcs, but more from an LGBT / legal perspective.
I like Esther Yu, and I think she's a good actress.
So it makes me sad that I can't deal with her voice. It's intolerable to my ears, and I have to watch with the volume turned off and subtitles on when she's in a scene. Which of course, severely impacts whichever series or movie I'm watching. So frustrating.
If she had an alternative, more adult sounding voice that she could use instead of the baby one, I would be so happy.
I'm so glad Asami and Yuki reconnected in every way they needed to, because they had been so disconnected and distant for the last few episodes. But the finale was lovingly intimate and healing, and I think it ended on the perfect note.
I'm looking forward to the new spin-off series with the side couple.
Really enjoying this series. Currently watching Ep 6.
I CRACKED UP around the 5:11 time stamp, when Jinn blurts out "HOLY SHIT!" in front of J's parents. And when they glare at him, Jinn says "Sorry, that was supposed to stay in my head." HAHAHAHAHA
1) In Ep 5, Fan Xiao claimed he was actually a virgin (he said he hadn't been with anyone at all, male or female), and that Shu Lang was his first. Is that the truth? Or a lie he's using for manipulation?
2) In Ep 6, we see a flashback to a conversation between Fan Xiao and his buddy Li Hua. Li Hua asks Fan Xiao what he's going to do now that he's slept with Shu Lang, and Fan Xiao replies that he's just using Shu Lang because he's bored.
But Fan Xiao had already confessed to Shu Lang before they even slept together. So was that a lie? Does he really not love Shu Lang after all, and instead, he's just using him for sex?
3) Also, his obsession with being better than Shu Lang's ex, Lu Zhen, is becoming more and more apparent.
But Shu Lang has explained that he realized he never really loved Lu Zhen, and he also explained that he never shared his past or secrets with Lu Zhen. And he never took Lu Zhen to his mother's grave. Doesn't that, right there, show Fan Xiao that he means much more and should feel secure in their relationship?
4) And piggybacking on that ^^^^ I guess I just don't understand where Fan Xiao's obsession is coming from. Is it **JUST** him wanting to possess Shu Lang in every way possible, or is he paranoid because he's never loved anyone and he doesn't know how to handle it? Is he afraid of abandonment because of what happened with his mother?
I have watched a number of Shortime series on YT. They have a very limited number of actors, and some of their dramas have been decent.
But I have noticed something. The actor that's playing Hae-jun is really good when he's coupled with any of the actors who are **NOT** Jung Myeong Cheol (the one who is playing Jae-hun).
But when he's coupled with Jung Myeong Cheol, the chemistry is bizarre and off-putting, just like in "Tide of Love."
And almost all of the Shortime series have AWFUL blocking, camera placement, sound quality and editing. Those are MAJOR flaws of the channel and the series they produce.
When Wiwid (aka Wid) showed up as the new "team leader," it was annoying that Peach didn't report Wiwid's past lechery and unprofessionalism to anyone, including Thee. There were other witnesses (not just Peach) who saw how he treated that young girl on a previous photo shoot. Peach would have had enough proof to get rid of him.
Instead, Peach was acting like he was the only one who had to "handle" anything related with Wid. But in reality, he should have been thinking of any potential victims of Wid's sick fascination with underage, under-dressed girls. Even if he had to get Thee involved, Peach should have done that immediately, with no hesitation.
It's at the 3:37 mark on this video:

I have been there and done that. LOLOL

She would be great in a spy thriller.
