Actually people were swooning for XL, and his long white hair vibe, despite his really shocking behaviour towards XL!! He was pretty gorgeous though...looks go a long way lol

Tbh XL messed with XY in LYF wayyyyyyy worse than this lol it was pretty hard to watch at times.

Even though it's ostensibly a hilarious comedy, TQ is playing it with with such sad pathos, and vulnerability up to this point, really suffering over the deaths, and loss and blaming himself, having problems with his eyes, while the two girls are strategising and giggling, and finding him just an interfering nuisance. True that SCC is having moments of concern, and guilt but she didn't really seem to care about the degree of his suffering. True also he's a particularly fragile person, he could have been written a bit tougher. But last thing I saw he'll be coming down like thunder because of how he's been messed with.
Don't you love all the LYF references, this drama is soooooo clever.

Finally have to agree with most comments, FL and SFL have been appalling, that last stint with the ambulance was the final straw. Next segment has to be the confrontation, and TQ revenge. What a sleuth, I love the rapid change of expression, he's looking like his character in LYF. Can't yet figure out how he will forgive SCC and LY, and how the romance will begin.

Back at ep 18 or 19, how absolutely fantastic was that performance with Lin Yuan and Quan Sheng Tang , and the animation, whole festival was totally gorgeous.

I kind of wish Tang Qi could just get a bit more resilient, he's so absolutely vulnerable and tbh weak and frail emotionally. He reminds me of the FL in The Witch, it's hard to watch. Obviously SCC was initially out to revenge herself for the perceived 'insult' when her makeup ran down her face. But at this point, I don't think she's doing anything intentionally to hurt him, it's just a sequence of chaotic events that keep snowballing, while he falls for her personas, he is really falling for her of course, and she for him, If he was more resilient than you could sit back a really laugh at the surreal unfolding of the plot, (lama, etc) but it's getting harder because he's having a mental breakdown, and his eyesight is going etc. I think this should be resolved soon, or it's going to be harder to watch, I sense this blond person is up next....but worried.

No it's nothing to do with childhood, it's because he's a scientist who makes make up, and he is a nerdy professor type, who was shocked at how her makeup ran down her face, he then went on to try and create a makeup that doesn't run. So big misunderstanding, he's too in his world to realise he said it in front of all the people. And of course being unattractive is her biggest fear, so she totally went into a spiral of misery. lol

You have to keep watching to understand his reaction! It's not what you think!

Absolutely loving this drama, so funny, and clever. Comedy is not for the faint hearted, it's very difficult. Just an aside, I've only ever seen Tan Jian Ci in serious roles, or tough guy roles (Lost You Forever) etc. but I saw an interview with him where he said he wanted to do a softer, gentle character, I can't believe how nuanced his facial movements are, they're so subtle just to capture, anxiety, embarrassment, confusion etc even sadness, I think as an actor he's having a field day experimenting with these expressions, although the camera is holding on his face and any physical reactions for quite a while it's never boring, I often FF if a shot is too long etc. but with this one, I'm so intrigued as to how he manages to have such presence with minute facial movements. It's interesting that he's portraying a nerdy, scientific shy guy not the usual muscly alpha male, yet he's kind of sexy and attractive. I think as a character it's great he's moving towards finding love, albeit in a wierdarse way, because he's never had a relationship before, he's been locked up inside his nerdy, scientific world. It's lovely how the ML's are slowly falling for each other, also love the 2L couple. And looks like a third one is coming up.

I think you have to focus on the comedy and chaos of the story, and just go with it. The characters are clearly in the process of resolving past misunderstandings, using magic, in a slapstick comedy framework. The ideas and, the writing and interesting references to other film makers and even previous dramas are refreshingly good. I think these characters are actually good at heart, and all will be resolved although it will be through confusion and pandemonium in the format of other great comedies.

Agree well said. The comedy is really tight, as much as I've enjoyed many Cdramas I haven't found one as funny as this one. I love the fact that the women are not just pretty child/women but distinct intelligent people, making astute decisions. It has a crazy, surreal vibe about it, a bit like Secret Garden or Another MS Oh, and you have either enjoy the magic and chaos, and comedy or not. The cast are acting so well, I can't believe the subtle, nuanced reactions of TJC. I will never get over the sparkly shirt dance. The Lama. It is focussed on some interesting ideas, such as the fanatic emphasis on skin deep beauty, and I love the clever references to their other dramas, Lost You Forever etc. Loving it, and can't wait to see the next crazy, hilarious episode.

While SCC is an Alpaca, he explains about his eyes, and she understands that he didn't dislike her, it was his vision making him sick because she was wearing sparkly stuff.

This show is really entertaining! SKJ is not only amazinglly handsome but a great actor. I do feel the FL is a bit ditzy and unfocussed for a teacher. I think the ML made that clear. He seemed more mature than the teacher, which he in fact is. re bullying. Just a little thing, would an agent really allow an untrained student (with issues) to come along on a mission, and then leave him alone while he chases the perp. I don't think so!!!
