On The Legend of Kitchen Soldier May 12, 2026
saw this randomly while scrolling and decided to give it a try because i saw Lee Sang Yi on the cover. The first episode was great. This seems like a pure comedy and friendship drama with some space for deeper topics like grief and depression, which we'll probably see later, but right now it's pretty light and fun. Good for a turn-you-brain-off drama. I haven't seen any of the cast before, other than Lee Sang Yi, but since he's only had a cameo in this, it seems to be all newer/non-mainstream artists. I always love discovering new talent, and so far, it seems like this cast has exactly that. I have high hopes for this drama to be my new comedy and de-stresser for the coming weeks. If you're debating whether or not to watch it, ignore the haters and their low rating and just give it a try for yourself to see if you like it or not. Worst case scenario, you spend around 30 minutes of the first episode and realize it's not your slice of cake, and you can drop it in peace.

Still to this day I don't understand workaholics. I acknowledge their existance but under no circumstances can…
That's why I love watching dramas. I feel myself put in the main characters' positions and find myself understanding more about life and different perspectives based on what people have been through. In this case, where her work has been the only good and rewarding thing in her life, I completely understand why and how Ye Jin throws herself into it. It truly is amazing how shows change our perspective on life sometimes.

Queen In Huyn's man, Good Doctor, King the Eternal Monarch, Legend of the Blue Sea, Park's Marriage Contract,…
Well, I've only watched one of those dramas, but Bon Appétit is really only in the last 5 minutes of the show, and we don't get to see how he adapts to modern life. I meant it was nice to have the main lead go forward in time on episode one and figure that out rather than go backwards, already having knowledge on how life worked back then, famous historical figures from that time, what happens to civilization in the time they've moved to, etc. But thank you for the list! I might go and check those out later if they share the same premise.

Romance is supposed to be 0 here....Zhan Zhao is a classic chinese wuxia character & his spouse is Ding Yuehua…
Ohh ok... thank you! I guess I'll have to skip then. Shame since I was looking forward to Yang Yang's return after such a long hiatus. 🫤

I went into this episode with a completely open mind and 0 expectations due to the very strong hit or miss patterns seen in kdramas lately, and was pleasantly surprised. Both the leads seem deep and have personalities which will allow for just the right number of classic romcom cliches without making it a remake of everything we've already seen before. The drama itself has a pretty interesting plot because I've seen people go back in time so many times, but never go to the future. I have hope for this drama and really pray it continues being as good as the first episode, because if it does, no doubt it'll do really well.

Does anyone know what the ratio of like romance to everything else is going to be, or if there will even be any romance? Because judging from the trailer, it seems like there won't be and it'll be more like a strong friendship and brotherhood between the trio. I love both Yang Yang and Zhang Ruo Nan, but I can't watch anything without a significant amount of romance in it, so I'd rather not waste my time on this when there are already so many other things I could be watching. Thank you!

i don't know why the rating is so low..cause when i first checked it, only 2 ep are out and it was already low???…
This is a very common trend with slice-of-life dramas. Fans of exciting and fast-paced shows typically watch these because of certain actors or promo, completely disregarding the plot and premise. Then, they complain and hate on the show when it is very clearly meant to be a slow-paced, happy rom-com, which obviously doesn't always make sense or work the same way as in real life because that's the type of show it is. That's just MDL for ya.

I'm so glad I've found my people here who are comparing today's ep with The First Frost because when our lovely Mechoori was flinging himself at his furniture and even sawed one of his pointy tables' edges off just so she doesn't get hurt, and when she found that drawer full of supplies to care for her, I was reminded so much of Sang Yan. I wonder where such green flags exist in real life and if I'll ever find one. But until then, watching Dam Ye Jin and Wen Yifan live the good life will have to suffice.

Is it just me who LOVED the lead's acting and is in love with this CP already? Aside from both of them being an absolute SNACK for my eyes every time they bless me with their presence on the screen, I loved how comical the FL was, and how well IU was able to act out how it's clearly a mask that she had to make due to her childhood. I also can't wait to see more of BWS's acting because I-An already seems to like out Huiju, even from their school days, so I can't wait to see how that evolves. I hope he's a yearner deep down bc I will never get enough of BWS being a hopeless romantic lol.

Did the directors forget about Gongsun yin?
I wished so badly to see his HE with the grand princess, and all we got was one hug and an open ending 😭

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
How can Sui Yuanqing think that Changning is Xie Zheng's daughter? Changning is at least 6 years old. Wouldn't…
When he saw the photo of the three of them looking like a happy little family of 3, he assumed that she was his illegitimate daughter and that Chang Yu was his hidden lover in Lin'An. It actually makes sense because after seeing his brother (Qi Min) find out about Yu Bao'Er's existence and get surprised that he has a whole child. And with the absence of CY and CN's parents, his train of thought is pretty understandable, as the Zhao's were too old to have a child that young, and XZ is already about 27, so having a child that old was normal.

Title Perfect Crown Spoiler
I feel like not only the queen killed her husband (for wanting to abdicate) but she (or her family) killed the…
No, I definitely think you're right. Also I am like very confident that the previous king, (I An's brother) was super depressed an unhappy with his life as seen in that fight between him and the empress dowager, and she started the fire when she threw the burning abdication letter onto the ground, and he just didn't bother to stop it and remembered her saying "I'd rather you die than abdicate". She and her family seem like a bunch of vultures who are interested in nothing but power, even at the cost of people's lives. I pray we get a scene where I-An finds out all she's done, avenges his brother, saves his nephew, and raises him in the happy, loving family setting he longed for as a child.

Due to censorship, their relationship was watered down a LOT. From what I've heard, the novel is jam-packed with spicy scenes and lots of kisses, so the pregnancy scare was actually completely believable. In the drama, they just cut off the scenes after they had like a 3-second kiss, but in reality, there was a lot more going on between them that we just didn't get to see lol.
