He is pretty young to understand those things I think on the other hand August is a seasoned actor... Mac is doing…
Yeah... I don't think your being very rational at all actually - "real relationships" are not necessary in BL for people to believe that the ships on screen carry over into the actors real lives.
We literally mesh together their real names, refer to them as that, and then hope they get all the dramas and post lots of stuff social media - maybe get all cute at fan meets.
That is what BL is - part of it. A huge part of it tho. I recall early BL productions didn't even kno how to make money off their content outside of real life interaction with fans - they needed fans to ship the actors in real life. It was necessary to the way they made money.
How can a 27 year old and a 16 year old do any of this? How can you rationally say a BL ship is something that only exists on screen?
This isn't the type of issue I will ever see any other way - it doesn't matter whats OK elsewhere, its just not OK.
He is pretty young to understand those things I think on the other hand August is a seasoned actor... Mac is doing…
Bc you informed that he was 16. I thought he was 17 the whole time.
I don't care that this was made in Thailand - it was made for an international release, that was the intent the entire time. I would say at this point that the global audience for this particular Thai media is in greater number than the total Thai audience.
Perhaps the monetization of this content does not match the viewership as of yet but it is only a matter of time before the global BL audience transcends the value of the Thai market in its entirety.
This content was made for me as much as it was anyone in Thailand - that is simply the reality of this. Except this content, made for me to watch, is not legal in my country.
That is an issue for me - I don't want this replicated in the future, it was incredibly unnecessary and just plain stupid, so I am being quite vocal.
Tbh, I expect this is the last time this will be an issue bc this an industry, not a culture - its about money and this jeopardizes the very opportunity to make money from most people. Regardless of the culture of Thailand or the legality of the age consent - its gonna be 18+ in BL here on out.
He is pretty young to understand those things I think on the other hand August is a seasoned actor... Mac is doing…
I thought he was 17 this whole time. Obviously filming is done so it doesn't really matter how old he will be - whatever happens in the show will occur between a 16 year old and 27 year old.
Might be all right if this wasn't Addicted but it is - we kno its a sexual story, we just don't how much this adaptation is going to do.
Attended a shrine? Is that you mean by wrongdoings? Truthfully speaking, to completely cancel an actor bc he attended…
No I actually have looked into this, I've personally seen the photos - he doesn't enter the shrine. I just think this whole thing is ridiculous - he was obviously also being taken around by people from Japan. He is a famous actor in a foreign country, its not like he just got to do whatever he wanted, this was probably all planned out in advance. I doubt he even realized how close to the shrine he was or that it was even there.
For me Edward is the most book accurate Wu Xie. Wu Xie used to be naive when he was young but the while Qiling…
I love all the Wu Xie actors in their own rights but I also think Qin Hao is my favorite. I connected with him emotionally way more. And I'm sad just thinking about him at the end. Tomb of the Sea was just great overall - Leo was awesome too. Such a good show!
There are so many handsome and young actors, why is Edward still being used?
After how fantastic Tomb of the Sea was with Qin Huo as Wu Xie - I don't need Wu Xie to be the latest icon anymore. I really like how they just cast whoever they want. Its similar to how James Bond is done, just faster.
Edward Zhang is a great actor - he played a 13 year old in Qin Dynasty at 40 and as ridiculous as that sounds, he played an epic Emperor Ying Zheng.
I've been quite excited to see him as Wu Xie tbh
//Edit - Also, ZQL doesn't age, so he can be any actor but this is the best actor that has played Pang Ze/Fatty so having Edward allowed them to keep him also, which I really like.
It does not pass censorship for the forced 'bromance' tag on Cn BL adaptation dramas, so China will not allow…
Completely agree π― At times it is pretty blatant and if you think about it at all its incredibly obvious. With their relationship its not like they could have a relationship with anybody else. Friends can have girlfriends/boyfriends - if these two had such they would not be OK with Ruan and Ling being so close, cause they are more than friends are.
You've been pretty on point tho - this show, Link Click and I am Nobody were all added to my lists bc of you ππ So far I've only watched this one and I was planning on watching I am Nobody next but Xia Zhi made quite an impression on me and I'm going to watch Strange Tales now π
Bud, as an American you need to understand that tho we are the most powerful country in the history of the world,…
I must also say that I very much appreciate your world view - specifically the distinction between a nations politics and its people. At the end of the day we are all essentially the same. Truthfully, I had thought myself capable of that but it really wasn't until BL was censored in China that I really had to learn that fr as my first inclination was to boycott.
The CCP is anti but there are millions and millions of Chinese People that support - even people that are willing to risk careers and incur substantial financial loss to support. That can't be ignored - I can't just write off China bc they anti gay, its not that easy at all.
Anyways, that was my last thoughts for the day - have a great one π
Bud, as an American you need to understand that tho we are the most powerful country in the history of the world,…
I was unaware of the English issue - that is very bad. I've been referring to English as the Global Language for years now. I've got into arguments with American an British people about how we don't own English, no country can claim it anymore. Its how all of us can communicate together and I love being able to talk to everyone. Thats terrible.
China has very interesting demographic problem right now - there will only half of them in 2100 - roughly 700 million people less than now. That is not a fixable problem, that is simply the consequences of their one child policy and cannot be undone. This is why taking Taiwan must happen this generation or next - Ji Ping knows this and wants it to be him that take it back.
When I said the microchips I only meant that we literally have no choice in the matter - doesn't matter who is in power in the US, that decision can only be made one way. We ought to defend Taiwan regardless.
What you just said makes me wonder about so many things. Maybe they are planning on leaving the world stage and just going back to a closed China - I have to think about this.
Bud, as an American you need to understand that tho we are the most powerful country in the history of the world,…
I do recall that now - at least one of the times. I expect to see more of that in the future. It might have been an attempt to get it to pass censorship - but I think its more like a requirement the CCP is placing on its media. Truthfully - the most powerful aspect of the USA is our culture not our guns. China is finally entering the real global stage now and I think they realize that.
Additionally, Chinese Leadership is gearing up to go war over Taiwan - we can't just let them have Taiwan bc of the microchips, like we don't have choice but to defend Taiwan, in the interest of security for the entirety of the western world. Its really not good.
I don't believe the People in China and the People in the USA are that different. I think we have the same wants, hopes, dreams and desires for our lives as they do for theirs.
They gotta make us look bad if they want their people to want to kill us.
I'm hoping they see thru that bs but lots of Americans can't so...
It does not pass censorship for the forced 'bromance' tag on Cn BL adaptation dramas, so China will not allow…
I think it was you Lyson that made the comment that made me watch the show - "There is nothing platonic about the way that Ruan looks at Ling" - haha, yeah - you were not kidding at all. I actually understand how they could cancel the show in a few hours, you don't have to finish the first episode to know that Ruan and Ling are going to be more than friends.
Final ratings 7.5.I initially wanted to write a review but in the end I gave up because it would be too long...…
Bud, as an American you need to understand that tho we are the most powerful country in the history of the world, we are not perfect - we make mistakes, we've made lots of mistakes and we are not beyond being held to some accountability for those mistakes.
I don't being the bad guy in other peoples stories either - thats prolly exactly how the Russians, Arabs and CHINESE have felt a lot bc they've been the bad guys in Hollywood movies my whole life.
Additionally, most of the jabs are actually anti capitalism - the USA does not = Capitalism. The USA= its People. Our economic system could change and we would still be here. And capitalism sucks. We are in late stage capitalism now, so it will only get worse and more noticeable.
The candy bars will have more air pockets, portions will get even smaller - we gotta get that 3% growth or economy is broken - that has to happen forever, which is obviously impossible. So... I completely understand people's issues with capitalism bc all it does these days is create the richest people that have lived on all of our backs.
We literally mesh together their real names, refer to them as that, and then hope they get all the dramas and post lots of stuff social media - maybe get all cute at fan meets.
