ima genuinely start crying when this show ends. I love yinwar sm 😭 waiting for this show for years is so worth…
I don't think we'll have to wait as long this time at all ;)

Love Mechanics was a bit sus right off - some people never got past that and so they didn't kno about YinWar... everyone knows now 😁

it's funny that most kdramas are boring, overrated and have a rating of 9. I'd like to know what's wrong with…
C'mon Bud - one of the main leads plays Robin Hood type character that is a master of disguise. The other is a good bad guy. Perhaps you are taking this a little too seriously.

After Love Mechanics what other series has YinWar been together in? I'm not even sure if War has done any drama since Love Mechanics and the one I think Yin did War wasn't part of.

This is nothing compared to On1y One. I think someone should study the cult following. I have never seen something…
Oh yeah, that was totally just a rant bc you touched on a button of mine with the masterpiece statement - I'm actually not disagreeing with you at all. Tbh, other than go off on you, I didn't say much of anything that wall of text, I apologize.

On1y One is the first step brother story I've found watchable since the original Addicted, which I don't even count. Its not original at all - there is nothing new about the content that could warrant a masterpiece. I think the acting is good but I can't say its master class.

What I think On1y One does very well is portray how we actually communicate with each other rn. The way the leads communicate, what they say and what they don't, their reasons why - all very relatable. The interactions with the parents - relatable. The school setting even is done very well.

The battle all young people fight between their future and their present - the struggle with who they think they are supposed to become, who they want to become and who they actually are. That is life and it is depicted quite well by On1y One. Its very relatable. One of the leads rn is using societal, parental and naive self expectations to deny who he is to himself - we do this all the time in life, convince ourselves what we are doing is what we are supposed to be doing even tho its not what we want to be doing at all - so again super relatable.

At the end of season 1 the leads are on opposite sides of self realization - one leaning towards self acceptance and the other denial. Both of them and their lives will be affected by the other's choice. This situation happens often and is very well depicted - unfortunately this too is very relatable. There is an underlying theme that we can't hide who we are that I expect will become more prevalent in season 2 and is of course also a fact of life we all struggle with.

So, another book... Essentially, it may not be a masterpiece outright but its hitting close to home for a lot of people and I understand why some are saying that it is.

No ! USA movies are propaganda, not this drama, its just chinese history
I don't think our military dramas are our most effective propaganda - they are just to recruit young American men. Our most effective propaganda recruits entire families from where ever they are on earth πŸ˜‰

There are varying degrees of masterful or masterclass - those are "Timeless" ones and a little unfair to measure as the barrier for entry to qualify as a masterpiece.

All things that people can do in life require effort and the way we go about accomplishing our goals is skill, often several or many skills for one task or action - this is true for the most difficult and most simple things.

All skills can be honed by people to a "master level" of ability and the product created by people that have attained that level of ability is a masterpiece by definition - this is true for the most difficult and most simple things we do. A bowl of rice or ramen can be a masterpiece.

If we live long enough we should attain master level ability in many things by default simply from sheer number of times or hours spent doing them. The lawn/garden of an old man vs the lawn/garden of a young man is excellent example - so is Grandma's cookies vs Aunt's cookies despite them using the identical recipe and ingredients.

A created masterpiece in any art form can only be determined in relation to its peers in its time and place. Some masterpieces transcend the required relation to their peers - the Mona Lisa is not a masterpiece bc its better than xyz paintings, the Mona Lisa is a masterpiece in her own right. One does not need to hear bad classical music to know the 5th Symphony is good - it qualifies itself.

That timeless level requires time tho. On1y One can both be a masterpiece now and not in the future as a "timeless masterpiece" is simply a creation once given that accolade that still holds it now. We still have to identify them first out of their relation the things like them in the moment. How can On1y One be on a list of BL Masterpieces in 100 years if people do not say that of it now?

Tho I understand your position I find it to be a very limiting as a creative master can only be know thru their works - how can we identify the best of us now if we are always comparing everyone to the best of us that have ever lived - its just a little much is all. I will say your opinion is quite common - hence the rant, my apologies.
The first season kinda snuck up on me - I went in without any real expectations and found myself really enjoying it. The main 5 leads are a lot of fun to watch and season 2 cemented their position as some of my favorite characters and actors in all of Chinese media. Their is so much chemistry between the leads, each has their role and none of them could leave without it changing everything - an absolutely fantastic cast. I'll definitely watch season 3 - tbh this show is why I renewed my Iqiyi subscription and future seasons of this show is an excellent reason for me to keep it.

I think its kind of funny that this show sparked a conversation about male prostitution - as if host clubs exist only in Thailand 🀣

20 years ago CSI did an episode set in a Vegas host club - literally the identical thing, just without acrobatics. They exist rn and rn in Vegas men are drinking bottle after bottle of wine that people pay thousands of dollars for and they will throw up in the bathroom the second their guest leaves.

WeTV (Tencent for USA) has a misdirect to Live In Love instead. But GagaOOLala has it just fine. Though it isn’t…
Some of the most recent Thai shows also include 4 Minutes and currently airing Kidnap, Jack & Joker, and Love Sick 2024. All of those are quite good - maybe its just the recent shows you're watching πŸ˜‰

Fr the most sus show on my list is Kidnap and its meant to be - its literally doing every single trope episode by episode, like its crossing them off a big list. I think its fantastic but of course I'm biased bc I love to see Ohm in just about anything.

Vegas was your favorite??
I'm not speaking to his qualities as a person or to the qualities of his choices πŸ˜‰

As a character I felt he had the most depth and personal growth over the series - I'm sure he was an incredibly difficult character to act and Bible delivered a commendable performance that made quite an impression on me.

He is pretty young to understand those things I think on the other hand August is a seasoned actor... Mac is doing…
The way most statutes are written it is statutory rape for an adult to have sex with a minor even with consent. There is a reason Hollywood and porn make a big deal about 18. If you what you were saying is true, there would be examples of adults and 16 year olds in relationships rn but there are not any bc that is not actually ok.

At the end of the day - you have dismissed the reason I'm saying this. I don't want a ban on BL content and this type of BL content practically calls for a ban. I think it wise to let this be.

It not a good show anyway from the reviews - the 16 year old doesn't have the acting range to pull off what he is expected to (big surprise).

This doesn't need you warrior defending it, I still don't understand why you care so much.

Haha, you do not know what you talking about and have no idea whats happening in the US rn. The trans debate at the center of the culture could easily become an actual war. I personally know of 2 different organized militias that all homeschool their children and all the wives stay at home and are planning on some sort of revolution if Trump loses the election - all bc they have to save the children from the trans and the queers - that is the center of their argument. They don't want gay people in schools, bus drivers, anything to do with kids - that is a stated goal of theirs to "fix"

16 is the age of consent within 2 years - so an 18 year old Senior in HS can sleep with a 16 year old Sophomore but a 27 year old absolutely cannot sleep with a 16 year old. No American media is depicting Adults sleeping with underage kids - none, that is not happening.

I get arguing for arguing sake but you are not listening at all and really don't have an idea what you talking about - whereas I live here.

Hehe, I've been young before Bud - I get it.

I'm not calling for an American boycott of Thai media - thats what I want to avoid here. You may think that what happens in America doesn't affect you but what happens in America impacts everyone on Earth.

Were the crazies in my country to find out about this, they would dig up every shady thing that BL has ever done, there is definitely enough for them to find and they would make a case that this content is not good for American children to be exposed to and they would win - there is not a doubt in my mind that they would be successful.

No more BL on Youtube, no more BL on Netflix - how would Viki fare once it was banned in the US?

Immediately there would be some idiot congressperson (of which we have more than we don't) calling for US sanctions on Thailand - bc the American position is simply that if anything is happening anywhere in the world that we don't like, we can stop it - that is the American position, not just with Thailand, with all but 2 or 3 countries on the planet. Thailand would just be a pawn in a political game.

This is very dangerous in an election year.

I'm telling you this content threatens this entire industry - it just simply isn't worth the risk.

This was great. When I finished KinnPorsche back in the day I had complicated feelings bc by the end Vegas was my easily favorite character - Bible is incredibly talented and this series really drove that point home for me. He has been in two shows and he is Top Tier to me now.

The rest of the acting was quite good. The cinematography, production quality and overall directing was all very well done. Considering this is the first project directed by Ning I am quite impressed - you would never know that by watching it.

I look forward to more from the cast, director, and of course the writer Sammon - she just keeps raising the bar a little higher with everything she does.

I don't understand the hate on this page. I haven't seen Triage but its one most liked series. Manner of Death is well liked. Bite Me wasn't bad it was just so slow - none of the issues with the show stem from the script, it was clearly directed to be that way. 4 Minutes is incredible.

This women doesn't deserve to be compared to MAME.

I came here to say I really enjoyed 4 Minutes and thought it was very well written.
