Princess Ning has ruined this show for me. It is ridiculous how bad she is. As a character she is just incredibly annoying and as far a plot is concerned literally everything that has to do with her is wildly unbelievable. At one point our MC get stationed in the sticks - far away from everything, its like a posting that end careers, he says his goodbyes to the princess (who cannot leave her house, she hasn't really at all) and then after he gets out to the middle of nowhere - the princess shows up two different times. Rn, I've stopped watching the show at a scene where she has like a servant getup on and I don't even care to find out why. I was fast forwarding her scenes - then I was just skipping them altogether and now I've dropped the show.

There is something imperialistic is what you say. I don't believe that everyone should learn it because someone…
I missed your comment - I would have replied earlier.

In many respects this is just my making a big deal about nothing - I was clearly in a mood when I commented. I have over the years ran into a number of rather close minded native English speaking people that seem to think there is some sort of "ownership" over the language that yields them some entitlements. I feel very strongly that nobody can claim ownership of the English language any longer - not even the English.

I have never considered the imperialistic notions of what I was suggesting - not a single time but its rather obvious when you point it out. I am going to give that quite a bit of thought.

Regarding the subs - I completely agree. If you intend to reach a wider audience by providing English subs, its a little silly to not prioritize them, especially considering how many people watch global content.

I do understand now - I too thought it was very well articulated. I completely misinterpreted and due to my reaction I didn't realize that until I saw your reply. I do apologize and I appreciate that you didn't lash out at me - you definitely could have.

Unfortunately, its not always the best iteration of myself posting things on the internet - this is one of those times 😅

You are 100% correct - I absolutely had a triggered reaction, I can't explain it any other way. I didn't even realize what you said was appreciative. I apologize.

There are far too many stupid people in my life that frequently criticize the way I talk bc it isn't dumb enough I guess - I took that out on you.

So it's not just me...! :(
Episode 4 isn't on the unofficial sites. If it were there, as you pay for Gaga, I'd say you could watch it guilt free. This is one of the reasons I am glad unofficial sites do exist - especially considering the content, the unofficial site prevent us from losing access. I mean that in an economic sense also.

I see a lot of people say things like they can't afford a service and would love to watch something that would make them happier but they are too ashamed or afraid to simply go to a website that exists and select the show and hit play - its silly to deprive yourself of digital content bc of money.

True fans of content will naturally pay for it when they have money - they will bc they want to support. Fans without income can still financially support while even unofficially watching content - they could find an older show on Youtube from the same company and endlessly stream it for example.

Tbh, I don't all the shade ppl throw the unofficial sites - the content I Iike is often blocked, who is to say I will always have official access. I don't want those sites to go anywhere.

This kinda stuff is why I filter in stuff like, "like, kinda, tbh, prolly, fr, tho, atm, stuff, thangs, etc." - the world isn't made for smart people, if you are too smart you can't even talk to people without this

The worse part of this comment is that I'm left trying to figure out what language used was so omg - impervious & marred are the only words in that entire paragraph that I wouldn't expect everyone who claims to speak English to get.

If the girl does it it’s problematic but if the boy does it it’s okay? The show expressed this…
You are not wrong - what Vee did was terrible also. Two wrongs do not make a right, that isn't how it works. I'm not defending his actions with what I'm about to say, I'm just going to explain another point of view.

Mark obviously knows about Vee cheating on Ploy and knows he shouldn't be acting the way that he does - he also knows that it isn't just about Ploy tho. As long as Vee was dating Ploy he wasn't "with" Mark - they could even just be fooling around, you don't need to revaluate your public/personal identity for fooling around. Its why he drags his feet ending their relationship.

When he finds out that she is cheating - that isn't something that can be put off, he can't drag his feet anymore, which means he will be "with" Mark, frfr. Vee is very much a man and all that means - his reaction to Ploy was as much about his hurt ego as it was hurt feelings with a little gay panic and a lot hypocrisy mixed in.

Mark already knows at this point that he has fallen for a stupid man and I don't think how Vee acts really surprises him that much - it absolutely didn't change how he feels about him tho. He knows Vee doesn't love Ploy and how public everything was going to end up being around campus, so he lets him throw his tantrum. He isn't condoning how Vee treats Ploy - he just doesn't really address it.

At the end of the day Mark does want to end up with Vee.

Have you read the novel? If yes then did the doc die in the novel too?:(((
You should maybe mark this a spoiler 😅

There is an alternate ending that was filmed tho - I sus it didn't end the way the show did, tho I will say I think the ending fits the character that does away with the Doc. Its not a bad ending of the show, despite being sad, its just very likely made that way so the gay "bros" don't have a happy ending.

Why this drama is taking so long to release, it doesn't even have anything that might be against censorship.....why…
China banned this entire genre - tomb raiding.

This was bad. It was great at portraying two men that have a connection failing to make it anything more than that. At one point during a long awaited confession scene one of the characters said "it feels like a dream" and it truly did bc at that point I felt their relationship had already run its course. I don't why either of them would bother with it at that point.

Apparently none of that was in the manga. Perfect setup for a light, cute romcom... this should be example of what not to do in film school. I'm being a little harsh but its so clearly the director just trying to liven things up a bit bc they don't appreciate the source material enough to believe it has value on its own merit, despite it having readership enough to warrant an adaptation. Were I the writer, or a reader or anyone involved with the manga I would be quite upset, justifiably so.

Ok, no comment on your review of the show - it sounds like a miss and the 1/10 may be very well deserved. I do have something to say about the English comment tho.

English is the defacto Global Language - it is no longer the English only that can claim it, they made certain of that when they made certain their colonies could speak it. Americans went on to adopt it but obviously can't claim the language either - then went on to invent a bunch of stuff, that obviously only got English names and expand American corporations to the entire planet, insuring English is forever the language of money, stuff and things. It is spoke by people in every country and everywhere there are people learning it - this will only be more true in the future, assuming no WW3, but even then, prolly still the universal language

If you pay attention, there are things now in most every country that are always in English - "Police" is the easiest to pick up on. English is used to connect with everyone, all of us are expected to kno it - not just native English speakers

to me its so obvious GMMTV are now running out of stories and the writers are lazy. they are now going the route…
The Eighth Sense did feel very western and some of it does play on Korean culture but the mental health aspects of the show could fit into any culture. Honestly the Eighth Sense made me think a lot about how similar all of us are - I think that aspect of the story could be told in anywhere, it just wouldn't hit as hard set in Thailand bc the culture still has hope. Advanced western democracies are hopeless places - that sort of melancholy is what the Eighth Sense nailed. There is a discontent and unhappiness that is only revealed once we've attained a life good enough we can't complain.

I understand what your saying - I kno you've been around long enough to make assessments on what translates to Thai culture. There are cultural niches and Thai media has definitely created its own identity in the same way that Japan, Korea and China have all done so already - but its not a tonal thing.

I don't want to limit Thai media - even as much as I like Thai stuff the way it is, I think this is still very much an evolving genre.

Right now the shows that are being made are largely still just adaptations of successful written stories or manga with a few successful writers having huge influence - Mame for example. She tells the stories she wants to tell. Down the road there will be more stories from more points of view and that follow less of a formula than the ones we are getting used to now. When a Director and Cast more often want to make a show to tell the story itself, rather than to meet expectations to get international views, we'll have more stories that feel like the Eighth Sense.

SeaView was my next favorite ship name - PoonSea makes me laugh the most... missed opportunities. So its maybe SeaPip or PipSea ;)

I figured thats how they were going to do it - I'm just having fun with Sea's name 😅

Title Only Friends
This show took me a little while to watch - I didn't binge it but that isn't bc it was bad. This show can be a little frustrating at times, the characters can be a little too realistic at times and a bit over dramatic. Many times tho this really did feel like watching a group of friends hang out and grow up a little together - even the messy parts reminded me of some different things that have happened in my own life, with my own friends (albeit with a lot less drama). Despite the overdramatic and hyperbolized situations that make this a drama there is a general sense of realism with Only Friends that isn't in every BL.

Perhaps the realism is why I grew more attached to the actors themselves - which is something I didn't even notice until Book showed up in My Boo and I was surprised how happy I was to see him. The acting was exceptional most of the time and all of these faces feel more familiar now and I already knew them all. Its like they all leveled up to me bc of this show. Its hard to explain.

This show also cemented my position that Mark Pakin is one of GMM's most valuable contracts.
