Title Animals Spoiler
These two come to mind as having natural acting, a decent script, romance and adults being adults. Hirugao has…
I started Long Vacation after your recommendation, and I'm surprised with how much I'm liking it! Really reminds me of I Don't Love You Yet, which I watched after Animals and fell in love with, esp the main leads' dynamic. (Never knew I'd like Shirasu Jin so much haha)

Glad to meet another One Spring Night lover. c:
Thank you so much for thr recommendations!! Ill certainly check the other ones out as well! (And potentially report back haha). Thanks so much again!

Sooo pleasantly surprised by this drama! Watched it on a complete whim, without any real expectations.... and wow, I really like it! Not the most groundbreaking plot, but executed so wonderfully and relatively naturally! Such an enjoyable, cute watch. Eagerly awaiting the finale!
+if anyone has any recommendations for a drama somewhat similar in vibe to this, with natural acting and cinematography, decent script, and some romance (preferably about adults), please let me know!

On the 3rd episode and really couldnt care less about the FL and the revenge plot and the supposed romance-- can this pls just be a banking drama about corruption and business? I am loving that part so much

Waitttt this actually looks good, and the main actor I recognize from Prince of Tennis from years ago! I used to be obsessed with his role there. Almost didnt realize it was him, but the name gave it away. Looking forward to this if theres eng subs-- hope it's not too cruel and creepy for the sake of it.

I'm very curious to see more of his work. I know he and Jung Ji Hyun worked on directing Twenty Five Twenty One, but especially since he doesnt have a lot of projects so rar, I'm even more curious as to his style and overall taste. Because Twenty Five Twenty One, despite all the qualms people may have had with the plot, was really beautifully made, with wonderful choices made throughout as to how to showcase the story visually. Very emotional, symbolic, subtle, and suitable for the script.

Title Why Her?
I see this perverse 'strong' FL characterization creeping from Cdramas into Kdramas. For most part these writers…
Yes, couldn't agree more! To be fair, it's easy to get caught up in a sense of cathartic release when people see strong FLs who do things that no actual strong woman would do in real life. But writers should have a responsibility as to thinking about the impact of their work and what they want to impart onto the viewers, aside from a good time. For example, showing a female character's growth into someone who has internal strength and resilience that gets expressed outwardly when the situation calls for it-- because that's the type of person the viewer ends up seeing as good, cool, and something of an icon.

Oh woah! He's directed a lot of stuff recently that I liked. The Light in Your Eyes (wonderful directing, had some gripes w writing and general plot but), Law School, and now My Liberation Diary. Will def be keeping an eye out!!

Not sure if you watch it yet, but Fall in Love (2021) has a serious tone, great ML/FL relationship and both are…
ooo okay! that's exciting-- both leads being super smart/competent is sometimes hard to come upon in cdramas, so I'm glad! thanks-- both these recommendations look good! i'll have to start with Fall in Love some time-- that serious tone sounds good too. c: My one concern with censored BL is that it's censored haha. Heavily censored shows always leave me a bit... longing haha. But will have to put it on the list! Thank you very much! :)

Is there any dubbing in this drama? I dont recall noticing anything overtly distracting while watching, but I'm…
I still cant get over this drama ;u; and the potential for more character development. Definitely the best cdrama ive ever seen. .. id love another season or anything with the main leads again. Such great progression and characters, etc, etc. Just wow. Laid such a good foundation for more material 😭
On The One and Only Dec 25, 2021
Tbh the synopsis isn't doing much for me, but seeing mentions of Just Between Lovers and The Smile Has Left Your Eyes really sells this drama, so I'll give it a try when I'm prepared to cry a lot 🥲

This drama definitely had its flaws, but the main relationship had its cute moments and actually rekindled my fondness for love-hate relationships haha. I do wish that these dramas... showed a more intimate aspect of their relationship. Not even necessarily physically intimate but emotionally intimate.

Does anybody know of any other chinese dramas with a great relationship bw the two leads that also has some serious tones? I find I cant watch really light hearted/cheesy cdramas-- it's just not my cup of tea. And preferably a somewhat strong FL?
*i also really liked Stealth Walker and kind of Ideal City, if thats any help

Title Yumi's Cells Spoiler
a guy named Soon Rok
??? Havent read the webtoon yet but????? How is that possible??? Do you agree with this ending? I can't imagine anyone but Woong with Yumi :c

Title Yumi's Cells
was not that enthused by ep 1-- felt a little cringe, a little draggy, the cells took up a little too much of the screen time (so it dragged scenes out), but by episode 2, I'm sold. c: the lengthier scenes with the cells in ep 1 were kinda necessary for exposition. but now, we're really getting into the meat of the story, and the cells really accentuate the character's emotions and are a charming addition instead of an unnecessary distraction. very much looking forward to the next episode ;u;;
i know the cells are a major part of the webtoon and charm, but i think balancing the cells with actual story and making things happen re: pacing is going to be big for me going forward

Yup, it's not a romance drama, but also has a serious/intense tone to it where you can see the main characters' relationship change throughout, which is really engaging because even if the focus isn't the romance the whole time, you can still see the relationship dynamics change and develop. Which I really like.

I asked because I've not watched many slice of life dramas and enjoyed them (without skipping scenes)-- probably because I get a little disengaged, especially if the tone is light. So I was wondering whether the romance was a substantial amount and how much there is versus lighter, slice of life moments.
