This'll be a shock to anyone, but I cry to this song. We hear it since season 1, and we we know who this is about. It's ofc OST in s2, as well, and we THINK we know who it references, I mean, come on. But it's not until season 3, that we meet HER, and jfc it's HER????? WHAT?? Wuxin is the saddest man to ever walk the Earth. Somehow Wuxin, the Monster Killer is flipping tragic to me. The man, the guy, not the drama. It's the main CP, that's so tragic, but you don't get that, until s3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG4l3afbEqY&list=PL6Vvuxl6fcAhRXlKMGRiTkQi4OsnY1nLM&index=26&ab_channel=CuaKayCuaKay
These are not in order of preference, it's just the list order from yt.
Favourite drama OSTs. I have a yt playlist, because I have issues. I suggest you put the links inside spoiler, just because some songs could have copyright issues, and you don't want them taken down.
Well, it's taken me until now, to brave the final, subbed. Useless trivia, it took me 2 months to finish Rise of Phoenixes, because it was unbearable to close the final chapter on that drama as well. I know this episode, this drama, well by now, I just couldn't bare to watch this episode, all the way through, until now. I'm not really brave enough, right now either, so I'm here, typing this up instead.
This drama changed my state of mind.
It's been a difficult year, this Covidian time era and mental health is very poor, globally. As lockdown started to ease, it was difficult to get back into doing the 'old normal' again. I also struggled with the 'new normal', as humanity had to change, over the past 12 months.
Is it equal parts ridiculous, and glorious, that a drama can have such an effect on your body chemistry, that you can begin to carry the weight of your own world again?
It's not that TLB is so exceptionally wondrous, it's that looking forward to something that stimulated regular serotonin boosts, without fault, week after week, and you KNEW when your next dose of happiness was coming, - you just needed to make it through to Monday.
So every week, we made it to Monday, somehow.
We have no idea if we can feel this way again. We have no way of knowing, when happiness is next around the corner.
The Long Ballad, thankfully keeps on giving. It's structure allows for re-watch upon re-watch. You will find details that brings new nuance, each time you go over the material.
I'm grateful that TLB came into my life, when it did. This is the power of cinema. This is why actors act, to lift you out of the mundane, to lift themselves, and enable them to become something 'more'.
Although this drama allowed us to escape, it also allowed for us to re-connect with what's beautiful. What's truly beautiful, are personal relationships. Connecting is beautiful. All these people find a way to connect, and show us ways for us to again - connect. Because as long as you're alive, it's never too late.
This drama kills it's youth, to drive home the point; As long as you have breath, it is never too late.
The world feels smaller, as understanding grows, and the heart finds it's beat again.
Caliente baby! I feel that too watching them steaming up the screen with the way they look at each other, especially…
It's funny, because the director tells Leo to look at Chang Ge, as they roll. Leo being cheeky, says 'OK, I'll STARE MORE at Reba'. HE actually does it, and Reba turns to look at him and blushes!
They are totally not at all formal with each other throughout the show. They were guarded about their identities…
If they ever did, it was just as a joke. Very tongue in cheek with each other, even before he finds out she's a girl and he HEAVY flirts at any opportunity. We know he's HUGELY reserved and doesn't even look at women. It feels so strange, saying he heavy flirted, once he knew she was female, but having re-watche d first 13 episodes, so many times, it becomes strikingly obvious. Every other word is a thinly veiled flirt. He looks like he can't even believe himself, sometimes.
I think, She Er had the most great character development.
He did, in history. He briefly fought to be Western Khan, but then joined Emperor Taizong, and became a General for Tang. He was also close to the Emperor, and is buried near him.
I realised, as I'm watching fanvids from the drama.
I see what A'sun did there.
The first time he cast eyes upon her, she was proudly mounted on a big horse. Dressed in a brilliant RED mantle, the fearsome toast of the town, Chang'An.
Later she's dragged down from the highest pillar. Her nobility, her honor reduced.
He wants her to feel as glorious in the Grasslands, as she once did in Chang'an, so he gifts her.. a RED cloak.
He disguises his wish, as a barrier against the cold of the night.
He succeeded too, until we put 2 and 2 together.
Red is not very common on the Grasslands.
You're very sweet, A'sun. And she does look every inch of the noble lady, as she is, in the beautiful red cloak you returned to her shoulders. You also returned her a little dignity, a little honour.
I've never seen a falcon puff it's chest so big, You know you did good, Red cloak, and fireflies.
Put a baby in her. His eyes fly over her body, watch them.
Not fully, no. A Chinese fan spelled it out better; 'It turns out that it’s not that there is no worldly desire, but that the child was too young'
He does say, 'we have time'.
He's not gonna throw her on a bed,or tell her exactly what he wants to do with her, because she has time to grow into her womanhood. And lord help him, but all he wants, is for her to do what SHE wants. He wants it to be him, of course. But he knows she's not ready for this stuff.
This is actually why all the chaste kisses fit in so well. If he were to really kiss her...

Obviously, the LB OST is incredible, but we listen to it endlessly, already.

In Uyghur, it means "beauty of my heart".
