True. She lined everything up beautifully for 10 episodes. PTSD. Tick. Young man confident enough to hit on an older man in the most provacative way. Tick. Skater guy hitting on a dentist nerd. Tick. All forgotten for a new narrative which made no bloody sense to what was a delightful story.
Wow! Fuck! This is good. This is very, very good and at just 6-episodes. The script, storytelling and flow of the narrative is lovely. Stunning chemistry with leads. Oh so sexy and erotic in both our leads dreams and fantasies. Go Taiwan, you’ve redeemed yourself with this beauty after my huge disappointment with the final two episodes of ‘My Tooth Your Love’. Back in the game and so resplendently with this drama. Love it. For me, you will always continue to be the leaders in creating innovative, fearless gay dramas. Thank you for this 🙏🏿
I happened to stumble across this by accident doing my weekly search for new dramas and have binged watched all 6 episodes in one sitting. I haven’t felt riveted or not wanting an episode to end in an Asian drama for a long, long time, to the point where I wish I’d discovered it later, so I could binge without stopping.
Adore Zhang Yi Xiang personality. That boy so knows what he wants. You go tiger. Love it, especially as you’re sharp enough to know how to seduce a stunning, older, intelligent woman and your intuition so knows she wants you too.
However, and I just have to say this because it’s fucking with my mind. Every time I see Edward Chen on screen, I think of the mesmerisingly sad wank off shower scene in one of my top 10 BL dramas - ‘Your Name Engraved Herein’. #JustSayin #CantHelpMyBrainThoughts.
They really trashed the show the last two episodes. Abusive father and an adult that can't stand up for that?…
So hear every word you said. I continue to be raging. It’s like for the last two episodes we got a completely different homophobic writer. I can’t get my head around how for 10 episodes we had a beautiful narrative all set in place across all couples. Why would you ignore what you’ve set up for 10 bloody episodes to literally take an about turn at EP 11 to go down a completely unnecessary new narrative, which made no sense or flow to the story to culminate in this travesty. So disappointed, as up until now, I always thought the Taiwanese were the most innovative and fearless in bringing BL to the table. I’m just going to forget this.
I have plenty of Asian friends (and lovers) and they all confirmed it is still very common there for parents to…
Yes, as I stated, I loved it up to EP 10. Agree, she over complicated it when she laid everything out perfectly in the storytelling up until this point with the PTSD and 2nd and 3rd couples.
I have plenty of Asian friends (and lovers) and they all confirmed it is still very common there for parents to…
Gosh, your opening paragraph is indeed shocking. That would be classed as serious abuse in my culture, with jail time for the parent. Also, in my culture once you hit 18 you are an adult and as such, parents respect and treat their children as independent adults, and especially if you move out of the family home. If a parent was then abusive to a child, it would be seen as nothing more than self-defence by law, if that child chose to protect themselves from the abuse. The likelihood would more likely be that the child would beat up the parent as a lesson.
Yes, you and me both. I think it's utterly sick thinking to normalise this kind of abuse in this day and age - I find it despicable and not right on any level. They can fuck right off with their filial bullshit. Abuse is abuse.
I also liked our 2nd and 3rd couples, what I was saying was the writer gave them very little screen time, when their stories started out as being so very engaging. I can't understand why they would think we'd be interested in the narrative behind a heterosexual couple, when we're here for a BL drama. It felt like the final two episodes were written by a completely different writer.
I'm so annoyed and disappointed in the direction this drama took in the final two episodes. I just can't get my head around what the writer was thinking. Honestly, in this day and age what 30+ independent man would allow his father to beat him for 3-weeks? Come on Taiwan, you became independent from China to leave this shit behind. You also advocate gay marriage. What, did the writer forget about all this and instead lead us back into the dark ages?
What was the bloody point of the 2nd and third couple? The Alex RJ narrative could have been so good, yet that opportunity was absolutely wasted with nothing happening. Instead, you deliver a finale which involves two couples we don't give an absolute shit about, because after all we're here for a BL and conclude it with their wedding. Are you having a laugh? I'm not laughing.
This drama up until EP 10 was excellent, but the shit show that was produced in the final two episodes means it's a 3 at best for me. And no, I definitely do not want a S2.
I agree. It seems un-nessessary. Alex and RJ is the most frustrating part of this series. Absolutely zero plot…
Totally unnecessary and doesn’t even flow in the stories narrative up until this point. Alex and RJ’s progression has stupidly come to a halt. I find myself asking at this point what the writer and director were even thinking.
The problem with the abusive father arc is only partly because a much better and much more relevant aspect (Bai…
Love this comment. Excellent. What 30+, independent adult in this day and age, irrespective of culture would allow themselves to be beaten by their parent? Utter nonsense. You’d simply walk away and live your true life. Utterly ridiculous turn of events for what was a good script up until this point.
I was really enjoying this drama until EP 11. I just didn’t understand the necessity to take it down this route with the father. It was totally unbelievable for me, as we’re talking about a man who is 30+ in years, why would he give a fuck what his father thinks and indeed allow himself to be beaten by him? Utter nonsense.
Also, why keep Alex and RJ apart when it was clear from the last episode Alex likes Rj. What about the storyline with the 3rd couple and Bai Lang’s anxiety - surely these would have made for better storytelling. I just found this direction both weird and stupid and can’t see how they’re going to tie it all together in the final one.
As always with South Korean writers and directors they do good storytelling, flow of narrative and cinematography, but for the most part, this was a confusing watch, although I finally got it in the last two episodes. However, they simply won't commit and embrace gay culture, which is evident in those utterly terrible, terrible kisses. They so want to cash in on the lucrative BL genre, but choose not to throw their hearts and souls into it. Have a word SK. Have a word, because believe me, you're not fooling us.
It's good to see that someone else feels the same. When I saw the rating I was a bit shocked because the first…
I too was shocked by the rating. However, for me I just felt like “yet another Thai BL of the factory production line”, with pretty leads, boring tropes, “staring with no facial expressions or indeed emotions”. But hey, one episode down, so open minded to see where this one takes us.
It was just okay for me. Nothing particularly new or exciting by way of the script - just the usual tropes. Acting from leads felt stiff at times but ok. The pool scene was uncomfortable “I’m reading my lines” viewing. Let’s see how it unfolds.
