sooorry for making your PTW list getting longer and longer with my articles ;P
Well at least I know who to blame for it, right? Besides, we both know you're not really sorry about that. lol PS.: I think you'll be delighted to hear I picked up writing on my articles. ;D
Okay, I give up. You got me. xD I've been lurking on this drama for a while now, unsure if I should watch it and my pro's and con's were equal on it so I was stuck on my decision. Your article convinced me to give it a try at least. I mean if someone puts so much effort, time and dedication into an article, the drama must be worth it, right? ;) Also applause for covering so many aspects of lengthy dramas and the ways of watching them. I found myself nodding in agreement and smiling to many of the things you said. Thank you for writing this wonderful article! ^.^
While dark dramas aren't my top favorite I do stray to the dark side once in a while and enjoy it. ^^ Will definitely watch Beyond Evil as it was recommended to me because of the leads chemistry. A dark drama I recommend is Duel (2017).
I'm a fan of Priest and the drama adaptions Guardian and Word of Honor (Legend of Fei started so boring that I gave up on it for the time being >.<') but haven't read the novels yet as Zhen Hun wasn't fully translated when I watched the drama. Plan to read them though. For me Priest's stories are a guarantee of good material for a drama and I add them all without second thought. So yep, big fan. :)
Since it's impossible to watch every drama out there I really like your series because that way I can get wonderful quotes and life lessons from those dramas I didn't watch. Thank you! :)
I'm confused bc all I see if bad reviews but it has a 8.9 score?
I wouldn't take that review seriously. How can someone objectively rate a drama based on one episode out of sixteen? As for "bad acting", I've seen the male lead actor Choi Tae Joon in two dramas so far and he's a good actor in my opinion. ^^
I felt the same with my first listen for Hyuk's Boy with a Star. It seems like many commenters enjoy that song…
I pick new songs for my playlist often by listening to chart compilations and if a song picks my interest immediately, it's added, "Boy with a Star" was one of them because of Hyuk's voice and the melody, especially the chorus. Such a perfect fit. That's also how I discovered AKMU. There are real gems out there. ^^
Often enough I hear a song and think it would fit into a drama's OST so well or think the song alone tells a story. A Book In Memory by ONEWE definitely was one of them, as well as Hyuk's "Boy With a Star". So you might guess how happy I was to see them featured in your article. ^^
A couple songs that come into my mind (I lack fitting dramas though): BTS - The Truth Untold (a sad love story about "what if") / Black Swan (for a dancer who lost his passion for what he does) Younha - Winter Flower IU - Above the Time (love that goes through hardships but only gets stronger) Onewe - Regulus The Rose - Like We Used To (a relationship that ended but the feelings still linger) AKMU - 어떻게 이별까지 사랑하겠어, 널 사랑하는 거지 (How Can I Love The Heartbreak, You’re The One I Love) (a couple going through hardships but instead of breaking up, deciding to not give up)
Yes!!! Well, I have watched a few Xianxia before but this is my first Wuxia. Am I qualified? xDDD
I'm not sure there is THE one drama out there which is perfectly suitable for beginners in Wuxia because Wuxia or Xianxia have all this cultivation stuff and other foreign things in their stories. This is part of why I enjoy them so much. I think if one is interested they can do some research. I lost count on how many things I looked up when I watched The Untamed for example but it was really fun and I enjoyed both, the drama and the reading to understand the universe of the drama better. I got confronted with 17 characters in just 2 episodes of the drama Nirvana in Fire. Compared to that, WoH is easy to understand. In conclusion I would say WoH can be watched by beginners. If there's something they don't understand there's no shame in asking those who are familiar with the genre. We all started with a new genre at some point. :)
When I started watching Wuxia dramas I didn't even know I was watching something of this genre. xD Now that I completed some Wuxia/Xianxia dramas it got indeed easier to tell them apart and understand the context of them better. Both are fascinating genres that I enjoy. I was looking forward to this article. Great job, Blizzard! <3 Hope you keep writing about the world of C-Dramas. ^.^
