I think you're thinking about this from the wrong angle, rather than on older actress supporting his career, it's more him being more worthy to act alongside great seasoned actresses rather than a rookie who doesn't deserve to act with him 😅
Too many older skilled actresses these days get paired with young, only-a-pretty face but no acting talent younger actors🤦🏻♀️, Wi Ha Joon is actually one of the few who actually deserves to act with older skilled actress

Not yet at least. I don't think they PLANNED for a season 2 exactly, more like the writers made an ending so season 2 would be possible, IF they decide to make one. 🤷🏻♀️ But going by the ending, at least the writers seem open to writing a season 2.
But you never know, this did both well on Netflix + pretty good domestic ratings on korean tv.
I wouldn't give up hope if there's no news for a while. The Fiery Priest literary took YEARS before they'r e making a season 2 (still in preprodduction stage). But I'm also not going to be super optimistic for season 2.
Misinformation alert, it's a Romance MELODRAMA (check PD's previous work) , not a stupid romcom, has no comedy.
The market for Romcoms and Meloroms are very different too, romcoms more for younger audience, and the PDs and writers who make melos tend to stick to that and not do (even like?) silly romcoms. So unless this PD suddenly developed a taste for romcoms (I doubt it😅), I wouldn't expect this to be romcom either.

Nah not everyone prefers the 2ML, ML was more honest as a character and funnier absurd dynamics with FL. FL who was more herself with ML too, and depended more on ML, instead of hiding her qurkniness and secrets like she did with 2ML. 2ML acted too suspicious throughout drama, they lacked the trust that ML & FL had between them, 2ML acted suspicious rather than teamed up and helped ML & FL solving the mystery. 🤦🏻♀️

To me the satifsying part of show is more them solving mystery together, building trust betweent them and overall being a chaotic duo doing ridiculous things together. 😂
