What were they thinking casting the male lead, not suitable with Lee Sung Kyung at all, looks like this has to be written really well, especially the love story has to be very believable and great, otherwise this drama is screwed...
Also hope they make the female lead very sure of whom of the brothers she wants & the other only stands a chance through scheming; HATE the type of love triangles where 1 person is genuinly torn between two loves; it makes the actual love OTP less believable and the torn person seem like a disloyal & flaky jerk
Oh god is the regretful main lead me? This hits so close to home its surreal. If only timetravel existed in real life...well I guess this drama will do
The original has not only the main pairing of Jane & Grayson; but features SEVERAL RELATIONSHIPS. I hope they keep that aspect in this drama as well.
As a fan of the original, with my knowledge of the characters, here's my DREAM CAST that would not only be PERFECT for the individual roles, but also for the relationships:
Jane: Kim Seul Gi (if she'd be willing to gain weight)
Grayson: Park Hae Jin
Fred: Yooh Ah In Stacy: Hwang Seung Eon (you know the female lead from Love For A Thousand More ?)
Kim: Kyung Soo Jin Parker: T.O.P. (Choi Seung Hyun)
Judge Owen: Yoo Ram Bae
The pairings in the original are: Jane & Grayson, Fred & Stacy and Parker & Kim. As well as the BFF sismance between Jane & Stacy, and the sibling type relationship between Jane & Fred..
So with that cast the pairings would be: -Kim Seul Gi & Park Hae Jin ( Jane & Grayson) -Yoo Ah In & Hwang Seung Eon (Fred & Stacy) -T.O.P. & Kyung Soo Jin (Parker & Kim) And Platonic relationships: -Kim Seul Gi & Hwang Seung Eon (Jane & Stacy Sismance/BFFs) -Kim Seul Gi & Yoo Ah In (Jane & Fred bro and sis like relationship) -Kim Seul Gi & Kyung Soo Jin (Frenemies)
(as well as a few non-rootable relationships with annoying love rivals who try to stand in the way of the 3-4 OTPs)
Ok as someone who watched & loved the original, I know the perfect candidate to play the female lead! : Producers please give it to KIM SEUL GI.
Rather than just give it to a fat female comedian (like some suggested) I'd rather they'd give it to an actual actress who can ACT, and then just have her gain enough weight for the role. I also think the message of the drama would be even more impactful if they can have an actress who isn't fat be so bold as to devote herself so much to the role that she'd be willing to gain the weight just for this!
The female lead character in the original is also very charming; making her stand a chance againt skinny women; she's not just fat & unattractive and then that's it. THE LEAD MUST BE SO CHARMING THAT SHE'D BE ABLE TO MAKE THE AUDIENCE ROOT FOR HER (as the love team for the male lead) OVER THE ATTRACTIVE FEMALES OF THE DRAMA! Basically how like the singer Adele isn't the skinniest yet she has that certain charisma.
...KIM SEUL GI is just the lady for the job! There's something about her acting style that really suits the Jane (female lead) character, especially check out her role in Flower Boys Next Door, she oozes a certain funny quirkiness and charm that would be perfect for playing the female lead here.
ALSO the original also has a MUSICAL element to it, Jane the female lead has dreams where she is singing musical style about something that recently happened to her/what currently bothers her (the actress there sings for real). SO THE ACTRESS MUST ALSO BE ABLE TO SING.....which is something Kim Seul Gi can do well! Check out her singing in King of Masked Singer (https://youtu.be/vy8lAN2V93Y)
The original series is also a DRAMEDY (Drama-Comedy combo) with many serious moments, NOT just a comedy so the actress must also be able to act well, thus casting a comedian wouldn't be enough for this demanding role.
I have a feeling there's gonna be a really annoying love triangle. :/
As long as the one with the two options is decisive about what they want and loyal only to one person, aka. the 3rd one only has a chance by evil plotting, I'm cool with a triangle.
Wow so he's acted now with Yaya in 6 lakorns as the main leads together, in a film together as main leads and in 3 dramas as support roles together!! Love that they keep working together, shipper heaven :)
APPLAUDS to the more than excellent usage of background music!!
...especially the intriguing instrumentals during mysterious moments, in particular during the Sharon Tailor shop moments, but also during other mysterious instances. Not only are the instrumentals amazing in themselves, but their TIMING and usage are REALLY REALLY REALLY amazing and truly enhance and sometimes even MAKE the scene! It's VERY rare to see music used in such a beautiful, spectacular and smart way!
Now there's like 1 song of the non-instrumentals that sounds mediocre and the other one is great but not amazing but if they keep adding more non-instrumentals/ OSTs with lyrics later on (which dramas usually do), and if they follow the quality of the instrumentals and even only improve just abit from the great sung OST; this has the potential to have one of the greatest drama OSTs ever!
I prefer Kim Rae Won with Seo Ji Hye :/ ... Sharon :(
I like the main pairing just fine but could've easily also liked Seo Ji Hye with Kim Rae Won.
In my opinion Seo Ji Hye is outshining EVERYONE here, even Kim Rae Won, and looking at her resume she clearly deserves more not just lead roles but MAIN lead roles; but here she is really suited as the villain and I like Shin Se Kyung as the Lead with Kim Rae Won.
...Maybe after this drama Seo Ji Hye can start to take on more main lead roles, she is a talented star who deserves better than she usually gets!
I don't agree, actually for me is the opposite.Unfortunately some roles or scripts penalize the actor/actress,…
I'll take her mostly mediocre acting with ALOT of Charm over any mediocre actors acting (which is most of asian actors) who have no charm/likaability factor so there's that.
If she improves she has the potential to join my bias list

In my opinion Shin Se Kyung's acting ability VARIES ....ALOT. In general she is mediocre, but she can sometimes be great and other times somewhat bad to really bad, aka. ep 2 of BlackKnight she expressed emotions but didnt really FEEL the underlying emotions so it came across as shallow/hollow and the crying scene then was horrible (but it was one of those cheesy overdramatic screaming out loud crying that imo even good acting can't save); basically the opposite of what everyone is saying that she remains cold expressionless, I think she EXPRESSES but without feeling the underlying feelings. But then she was later on great, even during sad scenes. She is FAR from the "Worst actor ever" label that people love to throw at her! She CAN act well, and I've seen worse; if only she was CONSISENT in her acting ability like she was more in ep3 & 4. Or maybe if she improved her acting ability so much that even her during her lower acting ability moments she'd be really good!
Beside her mediocre acting with great potential for much better AND much worse acting; she also has alot of charm. Not just looks, but she has a great delicate, vulnerable melancholic charm which many mediocre actors lack. If she could could consintely pull off the better acting she's capble of, combine this with her charm:she'd be fantastic!
Basically not horrible (except for occasional moments) but if she improves she could be amazing

I totally agree that bad scripts are often blamed on actors when in reality it's the writer's (and sometimes the director's) fault.
In fact, I've personally experinced this seeming change in "acting ability/likaability": Kim Go Eun's character was the 1 bright spot in the boring Cheese In The Trap and then she went on acting as Euntak in Goblin, a badly written fake cutesy character. Had I not seen KGE's true acting ability in CheeseInTheTrap I would've thought she was a crappy actress!! But that's not the case at all, NO actor can save the crappy Euntak role; actually she was in fact so good/in character during Goblin time that it took me to watch her in interviews as herself & acting clips from her other works to remeber that in fact Kim Go Eun herself is amazing and not annoying like Euntak lol (that's how convincing she was!).
My point: Bad writing can really BRAINWASH you into thinking the actor is crappy/can't act, (even actors you like)!
btw, looks ain't everything; I've seen many compensate by being likable & charming af; yet this guy lacks all of that too so...

With the korean beauty standard of people that aren't nearly anorexic (aka. average sized people) viewed as fat, I fear they'll miss themark on this.
It's okay if the actress isn't originially fat, just have her ACTUALLY become fat before she acts out this role, please korea BE BRAVE!
Otherwise they'll miss the message of the drama....
*Fingers crossed they keep the buddhism & philosophy aspects also and make this deep
*Fingers crosed this is good!
