There's no knowing each other in past (unless the kdrama version insists to be cliche and add ChildhoodConnnection trope....but unlikely with this screenwriter luckily). Their awkward meeting as total strangers was a charming point in the original.
It's been a. while since I watched the original, but overall the focus is more on FL & her family than ml & the love interests...the family members x3 are the official leads...Having said that, the love stories x3 also get alot of screentime...

The plot description here makes the leads all sounds like Red Flags LMAO. I promise in the original they're just Human, messy, imperfect, normal, not full on red flags... lol
