ever since ep 34, I have been in tears. wthhh???! Did the screenwriter wake up 😈 and decide to bring us alllll the pain possible in the last few eps??? Everyone just dies??? Every single being we were made to fall in love with and hoped for their greatest joys to come true, but instead we got this mess?? I’m so hurt 😭 😭 😭
IDK how I feel about her coming on strong or even changing tactics to slowly win him over just to literally get into his pants. If we saw a ML do that, we would be up in arms about red flag. She essentially tried to s**ually assault him at first. I like story, main and side characters, the fighting and even the politics, but I really can’t connect with the romance because of the trickery. Too bad, especially since I like our boss FL 😮💨
ML had one fairly flat expression except for a collective five mins of the drama where he semi-smiled, looked semi-concerned or grimaced in pain. sadly, he was like that in the one other drama I saw him in - Mr. Honest. Although he did have a little more expression during super romantic scenes in that drama.
In other news, don’t watch for romance. Romance was a background bit and the revenge was a huge focus with a lot of losses before a legit win.
How do you consider a 7.8 on a scale of 1-10 to be "that bad"? Please make some sense.
you know, I think it’s ppl who have been watching dramas longer / been on MDL longer 😂 I am also used to GOOD ratings for kdramas being over 8.5 and anything that dips below 8 as skippable. MDL rating trends have changed though…I see so many more kdramas below 8.5. Perhaps kdramas are just not what they used to be or audience are more cynical, more critical, expect more, have a harder time with suspension of disbelief, less patient for nonsense, or all of the above. 🤷🏻♀️ 🤣
ITS CALLED A SLOW BURN ITS SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE TORTURE, LIKE EACH AND EVERY SECOND IS A GRUESOME BATTLE NOT…
Yes, but there’s slow burn where there’s other important development (character or plot) but this was like watching a wall. Nothing interesting happened. It doesn’t all have to be straight up romance. I recently watched New Life Begins and the actual romance doesn’t start until much later in the drama, but the FL was such a boss and it was amazing watching her navigate a world and create strong friendships and alliances. I never screamed how it was a drag there. This drama though was primarily the romance and had no other substance so to make it a slow burn was painful. Add on top of that the lack of chemistry. There was really nothing to keep me from slowly burning from the inside.
I agree. I really liked this before that arc in the story. I can't wait for it to end. It was slightly humorous…
He totally deserves more ML roles, especially badass all-rounder roles like thus one. Let’s hope 2025/26 will be a great year for him. he is just so charming 😍

110%!! I fell in love with Hedi all over again! he was a perfect balance of smart, goofy, hot, cute, brave, apprehensive. It’s an amazing character and he totally does the character justice and then some! I really hope S2 happens and soon and that it’s the same cast!

I started liking her by the end. She became useful rather than a hindrance. Luckily the romance was minimal and used to drive certain plot points. Hang in there 😂 ML and his buddies are worth it
it’s on my list but i’m afraid that it maybe aged poorly. would you still recommend this ?
110%. I highly recommend it. It didn’t age poorly, in my opinion. it’s serious where it needs to be and comedic at the right moments. The romance is sweet and mature and not cheesy or full of misunderstandings. All the side characters are lovable as well.
He learns Princess Lin An's real identity in ep 18. Personally, I thought it was funny and reveals something of…
This is very true. I know there will be character growth and relationship building. I guess it’s the escapist in me trying to get away from the woes of the real world where disappointment brings so much turmoil within myself 😅I appreciate your POV though and I’ll try to enjoy their antics (and remind myself that this is *just* a drama) 😂

TY! idk why mistaken identities get me so stressed in cdramas. I think part of it is that they build this chemistry under a certain identity and it is often undone as they get in trouble due to misunderstanding or just hurt/disappointed when the character realizes they were lied to. 😫
can someone explain why he is acting out of character? They have shown him as someone who might use tricks but he doesn’t necessarily abuse his connections to take the easy road, yet he took his mistaken in with the “grand princess” to directly challenge his supervisor. Am I misunderstanding his personality and ethics?
I really don’t like identity misunderstandings. when does this end with Xu Qian and Princess Lin An? I usually watch cdramas for romance, but I was actually enjoying this before they added in this arc. I hope the romance or whatever relationship they have doesn’t ruin the drama. *low level drama-stress* 🥲
Second time around, eight years later, it’s still just as awesome. They just don’t make them like this anymore! I didn’t skip or speed watch. I loved all the side characters and OTP was sweet and not over the top. Balanced ML and FL - both were smart and supported each other and held their own where it never felt like someone was overly committed or giving more than the other - the relationship was healthy.
I know. I have been on this website since…let’s not say it because it will age me 😂 I made that note since someone read it and must’ve been like “huh?…oh 😝 “
