I saw someone corrected that Xu Kai is the global ambassador of WeTV not Tencent's...although WeTV is the Tencent…
Yes, spokesperson for overseas change on annual basis. It's not like typical endorsement where the artist continuously needed to maintain as the brand image. Usually it was given when there's a big drama to represent the platform. 2023 - 2024 were Lusi & Xu Kai, 2024 - 2025: Esther & Zhou Yiran etc.

Those bus ads and airport ads are probably paid by Alazoz’s organizing team, not iQIYI Starship.
Have you seen the pictures posted in the link? It's clearly from IQIYI.

Xu Kai is really doing things he's never done to promote this drama 😂 even though the drama team mistreated…
Purposely let him dressed up then leave him not filming until late at night. They delayed filming day by day until when filming wrap up, his part is not complete most of it. He just filming a portion of it.

It feels like such an odd way to introduce someone. A more natural English version would be: “Starring Xu Kai…
To highlight comparison. In order words to subtly demean Xu Kai. I'm guessing this user copied this from somewhere else. The drama got nothing to do to highlight their background and both are not newcomer to make such introduction. Someone is not happy with Xu Kai going to Thailand/overseas promoting the drama. This kind of post is minor venting of frustration. It happened in the past whenever something good happening to him and there are in the form of many subtle mocking and slandering. Due to this, over the years, it has develop negative image for Xu Kai. That's why most would avoid associate with liking Xu Kai, because they don't want to be mocked for their choices.

It’s possible that this is all over thinking. I see it could be 1 of 3 scenarios.1. He’s contractually obligated…
You are sure read a lot of brainwashing news that laud Yu Zheng. He's not one of the most influential person in Chinese drama industry and he didn't grab high quality scripts. His scripts were developed in-house through his signed-scriptwriters and he didn't have platform supports, he just got his drama booted out by Tencent. The reason you think he's so powerful is because he marketed it. Those influential people, the one who running the scenes, you will rarely heard of them. No name and newcomers will go to Yu Zheng because his well-known capability of hyping and marketing, but those with industry back up, won't work with him. By the way, in 2021, he received protest signatures and got soft banned for couple of years due to 100 industry people voted against him due to his plagiarism controversial.

I don't know what's your direction In this topic. You dismissed everything people replied to you on the basis of assumption, at the same time you also "guessed that friend is didn't go far enough to be able to advise him" and "Xu Kai might laugh at such naive statement". You are hovering between admiring him and belittling him.

yeah, the example you gave is what I mean by "The world that he didn't know when he entered is the world of film and television.". You mixed up with celeb world, the world where you have to play hierarchy, coaxing capital, bow to the unspoken rule etc. This is the world that Cherrybanana and me were referring to when she said "he entered the world with his eyes wide open".

Yu Zheng approached him in 2013, and until 2016, he has been rejecting Yu Zheng. He once said, he hesitated because he knew the world of celebrity and he got friend who once tried being an actor but quit because he couldn't handle it anymore. He reconsiders later on to see if acting is suitable for him. He didn't reconsider the world of glamour, he considers path of career. The world that he didn't know when he entered is the world of film and television. He told Yu Zheng, his accent might hinder his acting, instead of advising him to learn and improve, YZ told him not to worry because you can always use dubbing.

It’s a melon pushed by marketing accounts. Don’t take it to heart.I heard it’s a big IP, but YZ fans are…
Yes, the fight during filming also pretty bad but it didn't warrant fuss among fandom because at that time they are not yet breakout actors. ZLH's agent core strength is marketing connection while TXW's agent core strength is strong resources connection So POJ is the result of combination of both core strength and that's why it was called pre-meditated success because the success already confirmed before airing. But regardless of that, their agents succeeded in propelling them for better resources due to POJ exposure. Before, both agents were fighting because each fought interest of their artists, after POJ explosion, both reconcile because they both reaped the benefits.

I am hoping that by this time next week, we hear good news about XuKai leaving that agency 🙏🏾
Technically and business-wise, most artist leave quietly. Some company even camouflage that the artist is still in the company despite already left. Because it will affect company's investors and stakeholders.

True. Being popular and have many fans didn't mean they are traffic actors. But in fandom definition, that's how they define it. As long as you acted in idol drama, have fans, you are automatically being labelled as traffic actor.

He always been super low key even during his high traffic days, not just in the past few years. He only participate in variety shows related to drama promotion and has never been engaged with continuous marketing and living in hot search unlike those who aim to cultivate high traffic route. Those who follows traffic route can be seen maintaining their public exposure with high socmed activity.

Among fan circle, maybe they are well known or popular actors but they are not top traffics, just small traffic. The result of endorsement is not because he drives the traffic, it means his works yield the results. He did not drive fake data.

so frustrating to see the actor works harder than the production team in promoting this drama. xukai talked about…
Based on past experience, this shows that the production company didn't have budget for promotion. They are now trying to raise the money for the broadcast later. This is what infuriates Xu Kai fans regarding the drama because they cast him aside in order to give highlight for others but they rely on him to get the audience and traffic for the drama.

I think you have been misunderstood by the atmosphere of international dramas fangirling circle. Both Xu Kai and Zhou Ye do not belong to top traffic. Xu Kai is considered small traffic but Xu Kai has more public recognition due to explosion of Yanxi Palace while Zhou Ye is considered rising or waiting to explode actress. Top traffic's are those with constant active fans that maintain high visibility and high data. Also, the categorization of top traffic also varies. Some are due to idol background, variety show, and drama explosion. To maintain traffic also you need constant presence which means high marketing allocation. Reservation for the drama relies on many factors - casting, IP size, authors, production company etc. Spring of Blade belongs to small IP (average number of readers and popularity) with its author only had 1 drama released so far adapted from her works. So the reservation relies on casting and director as production company is not a big factory with well known reputation. Based on casting, without questionable reputation, the reservation should have at least reached 500k - 700k so the whole controversy about lack of funds, Xu Kai's minimal screen time, unfinished filming, fans boycott do have impact on the forecast of the drama. Otherwise, even if Xu Kai fans boycott it, Zhou Ye fans and her public recognition should be able to spur the reservation due to optimistic forecast on Zhou Ye's full story arc and big female lead but with sluggish increase on reservation shows that the romance arc and presence of ML is crucial to capture the interest of public to book the drama. Based on last drama account activity that they targeted 1M for 1st fans benefit unlock activity and final is 2M when airing date reached. (But now this post is no longer available, so they might have deleted it). So yes, 135k is low but my post above is about the importance of wide broadcast promotion because before Hi6 aired, the increase is on 1k per day but after Hi6 aired, the jump was 10k. Also, Xu Kai's participation in promotion is important to convince the fans (even though it can be seen that the effect is low as fans already seen enough from past dramas how Xu Kai was only used for promotion but missing in the drama).

ive been seeing patterns similar to MR too. im mentally prepared to see another dual-leads turns female-centric…
If their initial plan is to proceed as per novel, they wouldn't invite known actor like Xu Kai. Inviting him means require him to help with the investment. In order to have him and pass the initial project starting stage, production will present character story for both ML and FL. To not film his scenes during the filming process after all the agreement done means they are cheating on investors. So the story about both was agreed from the beginning. and if they didn't film according to it, they need to face the investors and audience directly. They shouldn't put Xu Kai in promotion.

i'm confused he will be missing as a part of the story or having little screen time?
Some of his scenes didn't complete filming, so expected for smaller roles. But for propaganda, they are promoting it as if this is 2-person story to attract investment.

Title Spring of the Blade Spoiler
The propaganda and merchant materials all mentioned about both ML and FL story. It will be considered a scam if the male lead is missing later and suddenly when people questioning about it, they said this is female-centric drama. Why need to use ML for attracting watchers in the first place. They should have just be upfront and be confident about the theme. Similar situation with Moonlit Reunion again.
