I have to agree, the only eps that I didn't struggle to watch so far is ep 9 - ep 14.

The battle scenes were intense but kudos to the camera work for capturing the moments. They barely got lines here but the flashback and their expression and eye contacts tell the whole story. They are not officially a couple yet so their restrained gesture really shows the progression of their feeling without feeling too abrupt.

The editing is really choppy. I thought at least only the first 8 eps were choppy but looks like another round happen. I hope they redeemed the momentum they got in ep9 till ep14. It's really hard to follow.

I don't like how they setup Madam Pei to die for the plot to move but I still feel sad she died. I don't usually feel anything if the settings is too scripted but I really like Madam Pei.

They were doing well since ep9, is this another scriptwriter came in? Did they throw the logic out of window again?

Presenting the jade means he's not Yan Rui. Is there any reason to keep the Yan Rui cover? To find the mastermind? At this point a bit questionable.

I think when talking to the Marquis, XQY noticed that "Yan Rui" is different. The tone, the demeanor. Her face kinda surprise.

She knew he's not total scumbag but the event of saving the people by grain distribution shade another new light on him in her eyes.

His interaction to the Li guy in XQY shop is actually funny considering Li is his rival.

He's Yan Rui, notoriously corrupt, lawless, hedonist officer. 😂 even though he openly being forward, touchy with her, he makes sure her dignity intact in the public. he keeps testing her with his Yan Rui personality while secretly observing her personality and reaction towards him.

yes, the early episodes are crude. but it got better ep9 onwards.

I was wondering about this too. 😂 see how 2nd bro still lying on his bed after a few days coming back from interrogation, this woman could possibly going out unscathed then if she's in his situation.

yes, the coincidence is too coincident. not too mention this setup is too cliche and insulting to the viewers' intellect.

I think so too. It looks choppy and plot is childish, until I watched ep9 onwards.
