I did watch Hirugao, the original Japanese story. I know this was a Korean adaptation of it. However, I didn't expect that everything will be copied as it is. From the characters up to the story itself. I was kinda hoping they would put at least a Korean flare on it. The only difference is that, this was too conservatively done. I liked the original Japanese drama because the actors has no limitations in terms of acting sensual intimacy. Plus, FL's acting was kinda exaggerated here. I checked this out because of Sang Yeob as I'm a fan of him. I guess, he's the only one good thing in this drama. He's more good looking than the Japanese ML. hehehe Decided to drop this at ep. 9. Just can't stand watching exact replicas of a drama. And yeah, not being able to convey the exact intimacy as presented to the original one is the biggest downside of this version. Gave this a 5/10 rating, generous enough for Sang Yeob. 😍
What's the meaning of the ML sleeping at his desk with the notes around him?
I'm so not into open ended endings, so I couldn't probably give you the best interpretation of it. But, in my opinion, he might have been just sleeping all along and documenting his dreams based on the notes around him. Honestly, the time travel part really confused me, since most of the things that happened were altered. Try to read more comments here. Some of them have a more concise interpretation of the ending.
I decided to check out this short 16 ep. drama. I'm really not into food blogging drama but I just find the ML cute and yes, I missed Xia Bao/ Rui Rui from Unforgettable Love. such an adorable kid as always. Story plot is a total cliche for me. Mostly predictable. The only thing that made me hooked aside form ML and RuiRui is the secondary couple. The chemistry was on fire with them literally. Like, I love the intimacy presented compared to the MC. MC's chemistry felt bland. I guess, am not fan of the FL either. I find her personality more suited for a supporting role rather than FL. With that, it's a 7.5 for me. The acting felt a bit lacking too, specially the 4 boys who works for Sol. they look more like of an Idol rather than into acting.
Just like the others, still waiting for the drama to be completely released before I watch it. And yes, I'm also one of those hoping this would be as good and fiery as Mysterious Love. . 😁
Finally completed after the long wait for the last 5 eps. Loved the wedding. Chemistry of the leads was undeniably there. A bit late though, like the official kiss happened arnd ep. 18. Enjoyed the fight scenes on the last few eps. Overall, gave this a 7.5. Should have given higher if it not for the open ended finale of the ML sleeping. The time travel part made it a bit confusing as well. Plus some loose ends on the supporting characters like Lin Yan and Ning Lan, I also don't remember Wei Qing ending up with Xue Deng. the only couple I'm happy about aside from MC is Xing Yue and Li Mian. I'm happy that she's pregnant towards the end, though the lovey dovey part of the couple has not been showned as far as I remember when Xing Yue dreamed about it. And yeah, Pei Yin's true identity was kinda revealed late. I thought he would end up with Cui since I'm feeling she's into him. Still, an entertaining drama not to miss.
So, i'm already halfway the drama and still not seeing any progress in terms of romance with the MC. Not even a single kiss or any skinship is happening. On contrary to the good reviews and comments, I think this should have been tagged as slowburn. Am totally here just to see Li hong Yi again. But, i must say, this drama has a pool of goodlooking men.
Currently on ep 17, the pacing is too slow for this drama. Even the romance is so slow. Still not an official couple at this point and it's just 5eps. away. Technically, a love confession happened here, however, ML is dying, so does that love confession makes sense? And yeah, the kiss still isn't happening.
I was able to finish the drama at this point. It's a total drag for me. Story plot isn't much interesting. I was able to hold on till the end because of Hong Yi. So, the kiss happened at arnd ep. 18. Honestly, the kisses were very poorly executed. Seeing Hong Yi in his previous dramas, I know he can execute kisses very well. Overall, gave this a 7 for the happy ending. Still, not my cup of tea.
The first 3 eps felt a bit drag for me, but it went good ep. 4 onwards. Though, it was a flashback, the kiss has begun on the 4th ep. I thought this will be another slowburn, surprisingly I'm enjoying it so far. I'm usually not a fan of slow paced dramas but, I think this would be one of my exceptions. Just midway, this was supposedly a melodrama but I find lots of funny scenes like everytime the swat team comrades give their tips on having a relationship and that flashback scene when Lu Chen was guarding an office on a winter day and suddenly people came out rushing and keep on sliding into him to the point that he was pushed away from his post. His reaction from serious to devastated from being slide off was totally hilarious. And yes, I'm rooting for the secondary couple Duan Rou And Qin Min Yu. Qin Ming Yu is another funny character here. Xiao Nan is just so an adorable kid. Will update towards the end.
I was able to complete the drama at this point. Overall, this is a feel good drama. No major antagonists. No unnecessary break ups since it was literally in the past. Lots of steamy kisses, a major point on that. Very light story plot. Superb chemistry by the leads. First time to watch ML in a drama by the way. He definitely nailed his role. I just find his tone voice always like whisperin'. hehehe Of course, Seven Tan nails her role always just like in Go Ahead & Sword and the Brocade. The only downside for me is the no. of eps. Should have been only around 24eps. It could have ended already after the wedding ceremony. The finale was just a flashback. The tactical trainings should have been just cut, instead I was looking for more sweet moments of the secondary couple including the kid. They should have opted for a double wedding instead.
So, it's a solid 8.5 for me. This is way better than Meet Yourself and You're My Hero in my opinion.
Finally, the long awaited kiss happened at ep. 18 and that magical night for the MC. I just hope the kiss could've been showned a bit longer. Just wondrin' if Yuan noticed Wei Qi's wounds in his body that night or She may have been too drunk to notice. 😁 Another kiss on ep. 20 and yes, the offical love confession came plus the marriage certificate has been released. I've always liked Pei Yin's character from the start. I was kinda hopin' he'll be the love triangle for the MC, but he's actually the cupid for them. There are just some loopholes in the story that felt kinda skipped. Like, it was not showned how Wei Qi has been treated from the miasma poison and his wounds from falling down the pit. And he has not recovered yet from that Chunyu mind something that he's doing for yuan. Then he suddenly got the energy and was even able to carry Yuan out from the cave. Also kinda confused on Xue Deng's character who's doing the laundry and taking care of Wei Qing's son, instead of leading the sect. I'm still waiting for Li Mian and Xing Yue's lovey dovey that she dreamt about. I think that didn't happen yet. Anyways, still looking forward to ep.21 towards the end.
I just finished it. I wouldn't say it's a romcom, there were funny moments, but thinking back to it, I litterally…
Thank you for the insights. Same feels, after watching ep. 1 I feel like dropping this if it not only for Wang Hedi. It was tagged as Comedy and ep. 1 didn't give a single hint of a funny scene. That's why I was wonderin' how was this tagged as comedy in the first place? Will try to continue on ep. 2 and hopefully, be able to hold on till the end. I really appreciate your response. ☺
I'm so not into youth dramas, but decided to check this out because of Liu Yi Chang. I've seen him in other dramas and he's really got that charm that makes you want to see him again. Plus that deep voice. I really liked it a lot. Not a fan of the FL. Seen her in several dramas life Dance of the Sky Empire, Be MY Princess, etc. and yet, I never get to like her as an actress. This drama started interesting but got draggy for me midway towards the end. I just hate the fact that the reunion between these 2 childhood friends was dragged too long. To the point that the FL have to be hurt several times before the ML would give in. I just hate that. If you truly love and care for someone, not a single moment you will let her be hurt. I think this is another Secoundary couple syndrome for me. I prefer Gu Chen and XiXi couple. The kisses are hotter for them. And I like Gu Chen's character more than the ML. And the dorm mates who are backstabbers ain't really given much punishment. Like, they did bad big time and was just easily forgiven. FL's family wasn't given much attention till the end. Overall, this is just a 7 for me. I think that's generous enough just to see Liu Yi Chang. And yeah, I prefer him doing mature roles than this. He deserves roles like being a CEO for contemporary or a General for historical dramas.
I decided to check this out given that Wang Hedi is the ML. It's a plus that it's a romcom. However, after watching ep. 1, it's giving me a melodrama vibe and not a romcom at all. I know it's a bit too early, but is this really romcoms?
Decided to drop this at ep. 9. Just can't stand watching exact replicas of a drama. And yeah, not being able to convey the exact intimacy as presented to the original one is the biggest downside of this version. Gave this a 5/10 rating, generous enough for Sang Yeob. 😍
