Nah the rating dropped because the last arc was utterly stupid and pointless, that's why. I personally really enjoyed the WATPAD aspect of the series at its beginning but then it lost a bit of steam once we realized the ML had always been a green flag disguising himself as a red flag for reasons I still fell to understand... Still I thoroughly enjoyed it... UNTIL the whole nonsense at the end.

BUT, the kisses were among the best in K dramaland for sure.

Well that's called DRAMA, character growth and so on. If all characters behaved exactly the proper way and/or the same way, where would be the drama?

Dramas are here to create emotions in people. If there was no such situations, the drama would ultimately be completely boring.

Also I wonder exactly anyone can judge somebody for their shitty behavior when the person in question has been wronged.

If anybody has never behaved poorly when being angry raise your hand! I'm curious to see how many hands are up esp. coming from those saying all these BS about the supposed misogyny of the ML.

I honestly don't care if people disagree. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion .

What bothers me is the judgmental attitude that comes with such opinions as if you have the moral high ground.

But again I disgress. After all we're all just randos online, whether you're judgmental or not, should be none of my concern. I want to have fun having discussions about the drama with other people who are enjoying it, not people who are hate-watching it.

It depends on how the character is portrayed. If he's just a Korean who speak different languages, having an accent in these scenes is ok in my opinion. The fact that your accent sucks doesn't mean you're bad at the language in question...

HOWEVER!

I have more problems with characters such as the ML in Love Next Door. In that drama, the ML and his mother are supposed to be FLUENT French speakers, having lived there for a couple of years...
And I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, the French was HO-RREN-DOUS.

As a native French speaker, it's not only the accents which were just terrible - for the life of me I couldn't understand a single thing they were saying - but even the way the sentences were made were terrible. It was like bad AI translations.

One expression that stood out for instance was the ML saying " heart-broken" in French... which he said as " Coeur cassé" except there's an idiomatic expression in French that is ALWAYS used WITHOUT exception which is "cœur brisé".

"Cassé" which means "broken" can only be used for objects and is more colloquial whereas "brisé" which also means "broken" is more literary and can be used for anything but is the only word that can be used when someone is going through heartbreak.
And that was not the most shocking, it's just one of the few things I remember but the bottom line is, it sounded like people speaking French at a beginner's level.

I went on a full rant back then saying what you just wrote, and all the fandom got on my back as being a hater and all the usual jazz...

But the problem wasn't here nor there. These characters were supposed to be FLUENT. The mother was this diplomat who had worked in France for years, and the ML had moved with her when he was very young.

In that case, just dub them if they can't do the job... And hire a proper translator as well not somebody who clearly has less than a year of practice of the French language.

I kid you not, I had to turn on the French subs for the French parts ( I usually watch with English subs) but the FUNNIEST thing was, there was 1 SINGLE TIME when I could understand what one of the character was saying in French.

1 SINGLE TIME!

AND THE SUBS WERE WRONG!!!!! 🤦🤦🤦

I wouldn't have said these people are boring necessarily but you do have a point. I always get caught up in stupid debates with people who tend to overanalyze things when some shows are just here to be fun.

Serious shows regarding these issues exist. But this is a Cinderella story. Completely unrealistic and thank GOD for that, because real life sucks, and we have the right to believe in Prince Charming at least in fiction.

Given what's happening in the world, a good dose of silliness and unrealistic heart-racing situations is what we all need.

Geeeeeeeeeeeez. Ep 01 to 5 were mostly cute but episode6 was a cringe-fest...
The good type though...
But honestly I was suffering from second hand embarrassment SO BAD at all the cringy situations poor Hioki was put in, I took literally over one hour to finish the episode given how much I had to just pause.

That is sadly the only negative thing regarding this drama imho.

I already LOVED Dylan Wang since Love Between Fairy and Devil but my God he's SO GOOD in this role, it almost makes me want to see him only act in a goofy way - and I'm a sucker for dark and brooding characters.

The only thing that I don't like is Princess Lin An. I know she's supposed to be funny... But honestly her lack of brain cells and overall childish behavior is really off-putting. I don't want her to be the main love interest. In fact, I don't want Qi An to have ANY love interest for that matter.

Hopefully she gets a bit more mature by the end of the series but for now, not gonna lie, I'd rather he ended up with her older sister EVEN if I really can't picture them together.
Both are highly intelligent but one is outwardly very dignified while the other acts like a goofball most of the time... This could turn out to be an interesting match instead of him being with an outward idiot who is indeed a complete doofus.

Sadly this show has decided otherwise.

Let these female characters all fall for him if you need to, but please no romance. I love it usually but this show really doesn't need any.

Some of the points you make are not necessarily wrong but one can also argue that the beauty of fiction is indulging in what is also not OK in real life. That might not be your cup of tea, but the idea of a person changing thanks to the power of love is a trope that is literally timeless.
I can't entirely agree with it though because you are infantilizing viewers. Your point might make sense for young teenage girls, but it doesn't work with full grown women.

In any case, the above comment doesn't apply to the ML and I strongly disagree with the whole comment you've written regarding him. No amount of discussion is gonna make you change your mind though, so I won't bother arguing.

The whole comment regarding marital abuse is oversimplifying things , seriously lacks empathy as well as being pretty rude as far as I'm concerned. And I'm too lazy to argue with a random person online on a subject that would require 4 hours of debate so I'll leave it as that.

At the end of the day, this is a romantic comedy with a variety of tropes that have proven to hit the right spot for most viewers. If you think the drama is toxic, I personally don't understand why you're sticking with it.

Not particularly referring to anyone in particular. There's just a line of people who say they they don't understand why people have such strong opinions whereas I think it's just a minority of people.

Again, you can root for both characters, however, though most would lean more on one side than the other, it doesn't mean that the other side is completely in the wrong either.

1. Regarding that point, the ex was a douchebag and the ML wasn't particularly heartbroken at having punched him. As he said, these type of shitty character tend to cause problems later down the line so basically one could argue the FL allowed him to see how much of an ass*** her ex was and avoid the trap of working with him. Nothing better than avoid a ticking time bomb when you can, which is what the FL helped him do, albeit unknowingly.

2. That would be the logical to do. Except she wasn't thinking rationally back then. She went into panic mode. I think one can easily understand that. When they finally met again, it was after she was hired... I mean she could say whatever she wants, did she even have an ounce of credibility left in his eyes?

3. You're being unfair here. I think they made it pretty obvious that she's a vey hardworking person who always took care of her little sister, working multiple jobs and suffering humiliation repeatedly wearing a smile. Employment is SK is a nightmare especially when you haven't gone to a famous University which is more a matter of circumstances than will. If you come from a single parents' house and your own mother didn't have the best education either, it's a given you're not gonna have the best in terms of education and you're bound to struggle more than a middle class person who are already struggling a lot for that matter.

It was clearly shown she was working on the side on top of preparing for a civil servant exam. In what way exactly is this considered lazy I wonder...

Whereas the dude can flaunt his Black car whenever he wants and doesn't go to his job. Of course, we don't know his personal circumstances... whether this money is totally his or inherited but at the end of the day, when you learn your boss is the CEO's son, and the dude doesn't even go to work or give a sh*** about other people's livelihood, it's no wonder she blew up.
And we as viewers also know he really doesn't give a sh** about this job in the first place... I don't really see how you can blame the FL for what she said.

4. Err well, this is a drama... What do you expect?

I don't think people are polarized because it's honestly easy to understand and root for both characters at present.

Although I have to say, that in spite of empathizing with the FL... my heart really breaks for the ML... You can feel how much he loves her with every single longing look. My God, when he met the husband... 😭😭😭 My poor heart was breaking all over again... It's like the FL basically breaks his heart every single time they meet, either by unknowingly saying something hurtful, making him heartbroken due to the whole fake husband situation or just making him care too much with her family issues...Also the che-mis-try is I.N.S.A.N.E... That's how you build sexual tension guys! My God these actors really know how to sell this couple but I disgress...

Anyway, there's a couple of strong opinions here and there, but you'll always have some viewers with strong opinions regarding anything due to their past experiences...
There's one member which comments I haven't seen for a while who was ALWAYS dropping in the comment section to make comments regarding cheating characters. It didn't matter that these characters had their own stories and might cheat for reasons developed or explained in the drama... for this particular member, these characters were ALWAYS no matter the reason unredeemable and deserved to die and that was it.

Some stories might trigger some people due to their personal history, and they have the right to express their issues...But there's almost 20000 people watching this drama at present, honestly most people have a more balanced stance regarding the whole thing.

I feel for the ML seriously... It's not that Da Rim is not attracted but she's completely buried under the weight of all her problems, she obviously can't really indulge in the whole romance idea.

Now that the ML has used his Black card, I guess most of her money problems are resolved... Doesn't change the fact that she lied, basically comes from a poor background, with education from a third rate college ( and my God does Korea care about those). Unless he makes it really obvious he's into her, the status gap would make any sane woman look elsewhere.

I'm so ready for the pinning phase though... thus I don't mind the marriage misunderstanding ( no pinning without some obstacles)... What I'm not really enthusiastic about is the father trying to force the ML and SFL to get married. Because you know it's coming sooner or later. The FL is already in a vulnerable place, so you know Papa Rich can easily threaten the ML and do a number on her if the ML doesn't submit.

Even if what you wrote was true - which it is not - what's the point of watching a drama if controversial situations aren't explored?

In fiction, you can kill people and still be the hero... Or you can pursue a married woman who's being beaten by her husband... That wouldn't be ok IRL since you're basically taking advantage of a person in a vulnerable place, yet storytelling is here to make even the most controversial situations acceptable.

If you don't like morally grey characters, that's fine. But what's the point of a drama without DRAMA, I wonder...

I don't think Loan sharks care about what's legal or illegal. Also if I was a loan shark, WHY would I spend so much effort finding somebody who's gone into hiding? That takes lots of time and money.

The only thing I'd care about is getting back my money and that's it.
It's way faster to target the family. I don't really see what you don't find normal here? Do you think people who do these jobs care about morals and ethics?

Seems like Episode 6 to me... Would seem logical to end episode 5 on a cliffhanger with the fake husband joining the company and these scenes happening in episode 6.

BUT In some miniatures I've seen Da Rim and Ji Hyeok being intimate with each other and these scenes were in no teasers and/or previews I came across so far so...

Teasers? Where did you watch those? I've only seen the preview for ep 5 but I've seen a couple of miniatures for episode 6 except it's never the teaser. It's people posting screenshots of the teaser for episode 6 and commenting without saying where they got it... (So I didn't bother with the comments, I'm not interested, I'd rather watch these teasers myself).
