Ryan Cheng is not doing kiss scenes, right?
I love Cheng Lei but his kiss scenes have been meh so far. It's all playing with the camera angles. Hopefully he delivers this time since Bai Lu is known for her great kisses onscreen.

Oh my... That comment 😭 As much as I love this drama, you really hit the nail on the coffin on this one. This drama has the best ML ever paired with the most useless damsel in distress ever. It would have been a 10/10 for me if Da Rim had just a little bit more spunk. I'm not even asking for a lot!

Well had to force myself watching the last 4 episodes. I should have dropped this but I hate to drop a show so close to the end.

Honestly I think the biggest flaw is that the romance moved too fast which led to having no story to tell even before we reached the middle of the show... Hence throwing cliché plot device after cliché plot device: new star outshining the old, stalker fan, private picture stolen, useless fake love triangle, death of family members etc... All in 11 episodes. It's difficult to connect emotionally with anything when everything moves so fast.

I'm guessing the manga is much more slower pace-wise.

Whoever cast Smart and Boom together deserves a rise though. The drama is bland as fudge but the whole show is carried literally entirely on their chemistry.

I can't understand how this one got 8.6 on MDL... It's not the first time that happens but honestly apart from the chemistry everything is so mid, I fail to see how this is not obvious to everyone.
Still debating if I give his one 5 for SmartBoom's performance ( hoping to see them together again in a better project) or if I go lower...

This comment made me laugh. I am 31 years old and still living with my parents because as a single woman there…
I see myself in your comment indeed albeit with 8 years on top. It's not really a matter of not wanting to, more a matter of time.

Though I have to add... Personally seeing my mom, and the amount of regrets she has about her life, I'm very much at peace with not getting the kids nor the husband if it doesn't happen. Age doesn't matter when it comes to finding a partner... but for giving birth... I probably only have 5 years left... though I know someone who had her first child at 50. But I'm gonna assume I'm among the majority so probably complicated past 45.

My mum often tells me she really envies how free I am. In spite of how old she is... She still has a child at home. I have an older brother who was discovered to have some serious mental illness very late so sadly my parents still have to care for him even though he's way past 40.

It's endless worry on their part because neither I nor my younger brother get along with him for a variety of reasons so my parents worry that if he doesn't become financially independent by the time they're gone, who knows what's gonna happen.

Not gonna lie. I worry more about my parents physical and mental health. Him? Well. Let's just say that some behaviors cannot be excused just because you're sick.

That's a strong reminder: Having kids is FOR LIFE. In most cases, things go well, but if one of them has some mental issues, it's your whole family that suffers... Not only you, but your other children as well. And the state can only help you so far WHEN there is help AND the person that needs help is willing to save themselves.

When somebody is bent on ruining themselves, you can literally lose your whole life trying to save them. Most people would learn their lesson and give up... But parents? Well there's the sane ones... And then there's mine. No sense of self-preservation when it comes to their children, especially my mother.

ANYWAY. On that front, none of my parents ever bothered me with getting married and all that jazz... though I know the whole family have been pestering them about my case nonstop. Should take care of their own a*** instead of being busy bodies for no reason.

No women can handle having a husband, kids and do all the things you want to do. It's either you make sacrifices on YOUR LIFE or your family suffers from it especially the kids.

Even money doesn't help. Look at all these actresses. It's either they don't act as much as before OR they have 20 nannies and their kids barely see them.

Having children means you have to make sacrifices because you think it's worth it. If you're not ready to, better not have any. There's nothing worse than selfish parents getting angry at their kids for merely existing and behaving like kids do( i.e they're cute when they behave but my God when they don't...), and telling them how much they hate their lives because of the sacrifices they did for them. As if the children asked to exist.

Not even entering the realm of people who can't even be responsible for themselves and are having children.

Anyway, I wish us both to achieve our respective dreams or at least die trying ^^ whichever these dreams are and even if they change shapes as you go.

You can't have everything in life, the only thing you can do is make sure you have as little regrets as possible.

Yeah well. That still doesn't mean anything. I used to have gay friends myself and went to those as well.

Also asking something about one being gay or not is extremely rude. When you're assumed to be heterosexual, people do not ask you quite a lot of questions gay people are subjected to. That's telling you about how rude and out of place these questions are. Not answering said questions is just saying a message "You don't ask straight people, you should not ask gay people either". That's it.

There's no problem if he is indeed gay, but throwing rumors about somebody being gay just because they've seen him in a gay bar is stupid. When you befriend a gay person, you usually get the whole group of friends with it, given how most of them frequent the same associations etc . due to discrimination. You naturally end up hanging out in the same places.

This comment made me laugh. I am 31 years old and still living with my parents because as a single woman there…
1. Your mother is French. By right of birth, you're entitled to have the French nationality. The procedure is actually pretty simple. In fact, I would argue you might already have it without knowing. My parents did all the paperwork for me to have malagasy papers without me knowing since both have both nationalities... Never knew it. Learned about it recently discussing with my mum about the rise of fascism and all of that jazz. She told at the last resort, I can go back there...Even though last time I set foot in that country was 25 years ago and I don't even speak the language.

2. If it was just racist comments, I could deal with it no matter how annoying it is... But the issue is not only getting a job.. It's also about getting a place to live... An issue you just can't avoid. I'm mixed actually. I've taken a slightly lighter shade than my father, so black or brown I guess. But my little brother has taken my mother's skin color and basically my grandfather Yemeni features. Needless to say, with all the discrimination against Muslims, his face doesn't help. He's been a full fledged civil servant for over 10 years now but still lives in a 9sq meters room. Not because of money, but simply because of his race and outward assumed religion.

Some other white colleagues of his who are less well paid actually got bigger places even though they arrived later. You can always find worse though, one of his colleagues has been renting R BnB's for years... It's ruining his finances but what can he do? Nobody wants him. At least my little brother's got a room... even though the toilets are shared and outside his room.

All these racists talking about us "playing victims" have absolutely no idea what we're going through. I had the same problem before I got my place... 15 days left and I was literally going to be thrown out from the accommodation I was living in when my work found me a place. Literally a miracle. Albeit a very expensive one.

3. Can't give you advice on that one. I usually watch TV series only when I eat. Otherwise I just don't have time for anything else. My life is just working. This month, I'm going to my parents for a whole month... And I plan to rest. I haven' t done that for over 10 years. Usually I use my holidays to study even more.

I sometimes reduce the amount I do daily but I never stop. Even before when I was employed, I'd still be able to shove 4 to 5 hours of study a day. It's more a matter of military discipline. Waking up around 4 am to study and doing the rest in the evening.
It's hard but feasable... You just have to flush any hope of having a private life down the toilet... I personally don't care, I'm more interested in what I want to do than having kids and a husband. It's also complicated to always explain to family members you're not available because you "have plans". But that's just me. it's not for everyone. The price is very high.

Otherwise yeah, I think taking it a bit slower is wiser.

4. Oh I have my own method for learning languages don't worry. There's what I call "passive learning" and "active learning". Acting learning requires full focus, passive learning is something I do literally in all my free time except when I exercise. But that's a whole other endless subject so I won't go into details.

Except during COVID, I never stopped exercising. I wish I could walk more but sadly no time... So I stick to 1 hour of Body Attack followed by 1 hour of Body Pump at the gym + 1h15 mn of walking ( to go to and from there ^^) I don't know if you know those? (Body Attack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eT7nh9WmhnI ; Body Pump: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7gwt-fuceI )

Anyway, it's actually really intense. Threw up the first time I did Body Attack a couple of years ago. Both are enough to maintain a fairly good level or cardio and muscles...

Once I no longer need to study languages as much, I'll go back to exercise more... I used to have an average of 10 hours a week( again I'm extremely disciplined) but sadly can't do it anymore. It's mostly the cardio that really suffers from it though, I haven't lost that much muscle mass though my aim is to start calisthenics at 50 at the latest 😎

Oh my...
There would be lots to say about your answer but I'm gonna try to really keep it short.

1. Given your mother is French, you have the French nationality hence the benefits. I'm not really sure a European with no French papers can get those.

2. Orléans and its suburban cities are indeed in no way comparable to Paris... But the job your sister does can literally be found anywhere... The issue is more when you seek highly qualified jobs. In that case, unless you're working from home, you're stuck with big cities, Paris being the most expensive but to name a few Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Aix en Provence etc.

EDIT: Forgot to add, groceries are also more expensive in big cities... It's not just the rent.

Being black and having lived in the countryside when I was younger, I'm also stuck with big cities regardless of the job. I went through a fair dose of racism when I was younger and I don't want to subject myself to it ever again which is why a city sounding like Chapelle Saint Mesmin is a no-no. Maybe racist, maybe not. No time nor energy to check.

3. Good luck with languages. For me it's not a matter of being useful. I just learn what I want. But my aim is always to be as fluent as a native which is the case for English... But, for the rest of the languages I'm learning... I give myself 2 to 3 years for Korean to up to 6/7 years for Thai and Chinese. Not particularly worried, I'm extremely disciplined... It's also not the only thing I learned on my own so.

4. Sadly I try to at least maintain a minimum of 6 hours of sleep a day... I just can't manage to indulge in more with all the things I do. Had to cut back on exercising as well so I only maintain 2 hours a week... (especially to avoid back pain, bodybuilding is literally not something you can neglect.) I'm still in the middle of trying to find a publisher for my work but money being scarce, I need to get back to classic employment...

Which means, sleep is gonna become an even bigger problem because yes, I'm not cutting back on languages and other stuffs. I did it with a full time job before, and I'll do i again until I'm fluent. I've sacrificed too much for too long to give up in the middle.

Based on the preview for episode 12, SML is gonna be harsher on SFL.
Sorry guys. I know most people think she deserves better but at some point, when the dude has already told you NOT INTERESTED several times, you should get the hint and stop pestering the poor guy especially when you're being sneaky and trying to get to him through his child.
It would be another story when the person hasn't been clear with you but at some point, feelings can't be forced no matter how wonderful a person you are.

If I was the SML, I would have been way harsher earlier. I found her mildly irritating before but now it's going into the "really annoying" category.

Let them both find good partners. Also, he's already divorced with a child, unless he's 10 000% in love with you, he's not gonna bother getting humiliated (and his son by the same token) by your filthy rich parents about how much he doesn't deserve you and blablabla, the usual status difference BS. Something SFL chose to ignore deliberately from the start.

Nah prices have drastically risen everywhere. My parents bought a house years ago in the Parisian suburbs... around 250 000€, 20 years ago... Sold it.

They regret it to this day... The same house is now worth more than double the price.

I live in France.

1500€ here is the minimum wage. The comparison with your sister doesn't really work because life in France is WAY more expensive.

In fact, your sister's salary is just slightly above the minimum wage here.

Sorry for the "no translation" but basically, the monthly minimum wage which we call "salaire brut" is 1801.80€ (for me it was around 1400€) but I'm assuming what you gave me is her "salaire net" i.e her income after taxes are paid... which will be for a person earning the minimum wage 1426.30€.

In non-habited area, that would be ok to live but since most of us live in the city, honestly that's a tough income to get by since there's quite a lot of bills to add on top. I'm not really sure how much she gets in terms of government subsidies as a European worker though. For people with that income there's usually help for your rent, daily expenses etc... which you already pay for through your taxes... BUT the more you get them, the less you get for your retirement.

ANYWAY. I personally quit at the end of 2022. I was earning around 3200€ back then taxes removed. I don't now how much it was it terms of full salary, never bothered to really pay attention to it but I think it was around 3700/3800€. Of course no government subsidies so I was assuring myself a relatively fat retirement money which I throw away but that's another story.

The funny thing though... is that my father who is now retired is earning WAY MORE than that as a retiree in spite of having done the same job that I did before I quit (though he did used to be in the French military for more than 20 years and that gives you some extra money after retirement).

I live in Paris though... IN Paris, not AROUND Paris and there lies the issue. I'm not gonna go into details but as in every big cities, Paris is located in the center of what we call "Le Grand Paris" - "The Big Paris" which includes Paris and a plethora of suburbian cities. This part of France is the most expensive in the country ( of course).

Paris is Zone 1, and the further you get the number increases with "Le Grand Paris" going up to Zone 5.
Thanks to my former job, I'm currently living in Zone 1 BUT paying a rent that for the same surface would be the equivalent of what a person living in Zone 4 would pay.

It's still hella expensive... I used to pay 800€ a month... Now that's gone up to over 900€ and that doesn't include electricity bills, insurance etc.

Now here's the thing... My apartment is slightly below 50sq meters in surface. In the area of Paris where I'm living, ( because OBVIOUSLY some parts are more expensive than others), it's not the most expensive but it's not the least expensive either.

A surface this size ( and it's an old apartment which is not really optimized so it appears smaller than what it is) would normally cost in Paris, depending on the area... Between 1300 and 1600€ a month.

Though the price of the square meter diminishes the bigger the place is... I would assume that having an apartment the size of the FL here would cost at least 5000€ or more.

BUT. Never complain too much. One of my friend who is a scientist used to live in London. Earned about 5000€ a month... Well.

He couldn't find an affordable place so he ended up renting A ROOM in a colocation in the Londonian suburbs.

...

...

Cost of the room: 2200€ a month.

That's it for the money talk. It stresses me out. I haven't earned anything for three years now and with the inflation, my savings which were supposed to last at least 5 years are now almost used up... Gotta find another job but can't get back to my former field so that's another headache. That will be a problem I tackle next month, for now it's almost Christmas, I'm just gonna ignore it.

2. You're a late millenial then. I know it goes up to 1997 but for me it's still way different from the way early millenials lived. The memories are there for sure but in practice I think it really depends on which country you grew up in. I was born in 1986 btw.

3. Studying Korean ( 7 years now and counting), Japanese ( 6 years and counting), Thai ( 4 years and blabla), Traditional and Simplifies Chinese ( 3.5 years and blabla) ^^ Also in my spare time.

And yes, It's a bit too much. I'm praying that I soon get rid of at least the Korean language, to free some time because my God, studying all these languages daily is quite a challenge and I'm tired. I started to feel the drain in my early thirties but now...

It's not that I can't do everything I used todo at 39... It's just that physically the payback for missing sleep is hell to pay the older you get... I used to work with flexible hours in a very masculine field and with the very few female colleagues I had, we discussed a lot about it. Apparently it affects women way worse.

4. There's quite a lot of upcoming K dramas I'm excited about coming up though ^^ BUT even MORE C dramas that I haven't had the time to watch and upcoming that I'm eagerly waited for.

For language purposes though, I really hope the K dramas I'm anticipating live up to my expectations... There's nothing worse than training your understanding skill with a drama that sucks...

At episode 2, they haven't divorced yet. They've just separated... Antinh85's explanation seems more likely because at the end of the day, your salary is proportionate to the country you live in. A high income can only get you so far.

HAHAHA🤣🤣🤣

Turning 40 years old next year and trust me it doesn't get any better.

Even before I quit my job 3 years ago... I was earning more than 1000€ above the average salary in my country... So VERY good income especially when you're single. Still couldn't afford even half the rent of an apartment the size of the FL let alone buy it.

Right now I'm stuck with a very high rent because no income at present (fortunately I saved a LOT before quitting) so can't look for another place.

Well good luck to us I guess. Who knows when things are gonna get better. It always makes me laugh when I hear millenials are more optimistic than Gen Zs... Are you freaking kidding me?

Sure things are getting worse, but it wasn't good for my generation either. The only difference is we didn't have neither Internet let alone social networks when I was young ( It started to really take off when I attended university) and so we weren't bombarded with an onslaught of depressing news daily... which is way better for one's mental health for sure... but doesn't mean we were optimistic just that we were mentally way less stressed.

Gen Z's main issue right now is:

1. The world is way more f***ed up than before so good luck being self sufficient ( for the record I FINALLY got financially independent at 26 years old personally... the average age in my country was 27 back then so you being stuck with your parents at 31 seems logical given the downward spiral we're all currently stuck in)

2. You're constantly REMINDED that your situation sucks.

Well 加油!!!

Then, goes to show the apartment which living room is bigger than my apartment with kitchen + living room + bedroom + toilet + bathroom.

... Just how much space do they think ONE person needs? This is not an apartment for the common folk, even considering they're middle class.

This is an apartment for the loaded.

Also the guest room is also ridiculously big and WTF she's got 2 BATHROOMS?

Ah Dramaland... On top of selling a romance with the pretty jiejie that gets the young, bright, ambitious, good looking Didi, you're also selling me the dream apartment that no 30 year-old can realistically afford ESPECIALLY when one has just separated.

Should have added "Fantasy" in the tags' list.

It's never a 100% sure thing. This industry can shift and change, contracts expire or get terminated, and the…
SingtoKrist didn't really part because they didn't like acting together... More that Singto was probably tired of all the toxic fandom and wanted to branch out. Being stuck in BLs for years must be really annoying.

I'm of the same opinion regarding keeping the same pairing for years but I do wish to see SmartBoom again on my screen... Hopefully with a better project.
The chemistry is insane, but the story is pretty mid in my opinion. The whole show is carried by their onscreen chemistry.

The saddest thing is more that it seems that since the whole falling-out fiasco for whatever management reasons ( I came across a video that spoke about it in length but the bottom line was, Smart's management got greedy which ended up hurting their artist), Smart doesn't have anything lined up.

There's Art Adores En... But I've seen that one listed for YEARS at this point so I think it's safe to say, it's dead in the water. Boom on the contrary has some recent ones lined up...

If it's stays like this, doesn't matter if the situation is resolved at some point. It will already be too late to even hope they're both onscreen together given how Boom is already 34 years old. From what I've read Smart is still tied up to his current contract so unless his company sells him to another agency, he still has to wait for his contract to end...
5 years is nothing for Smart, he'll still be under 30... but youth is the bread and butter of this industry so the damage is literally irreversible shipwise.

Hopefully this contract story is fake though... but it doesn't seem like it.
