Personally I don't get most of the complaints. Ok, I get that he can be slightly annoying but honestly it's pretty tame in my opinion. You want ANNOYING, I can name you quite a LOT of C Dramas with terrible SML. That will teach some commenters a thing or two about what a truly clingy insufferable SML is.
Honestly, it's not that some of the complaints are not legit, but it's blown way out of proportion whether it's about the ML, SML, or FL in my opinion...
Which is also why I've literally deserted the comment section. The drama is imho the best romantic comedy in K dramaland this year, and people are complaining over nothing.
AIR IT and DON'T BOTCH IT. AIR IT AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
I'm so tired of SK destroying people's careers over mere rumors and hearsays.
ALSO. Whether it's China or South Korea. It's time to learn your lesson.
Once filming and post-production is done, AIR IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Don't shelve it for months to air it at "the right time" because you never know what bombshell, real or not, is gonna come out in the following months.
Or don't release it in SK. Release the full version for international audience on Netflix. I don't care. WHY THE HELL are they so bent on ruining everyone's work over rumors regarding one single person and about something that happened over 30 years ago?
There's some very weird writing choices in this series.
The investor from the US speaks with the FL in terrible english... when it is said that she grew up in the US. Both speak to each other with very thick accents YET both are fluent in mandarin SO WHY MAKE THEM SPEAK IN ENGLISH TO EACH OTHER?
Why stick with this awful sounding engrish when it's pretty obvious both are more comfortable speaking Mandarin... Because if it's to make viewers feel like this woman has really been raised in the US, her English is so terrible, even somebody who's not familiar with the language can tell she's not fluent. Take her out of her misery, and just reduce the English to 'Hello'.
Then there's all these scenes with characters switching between what I assume is Cantonese and Mandarin back and forth without explanation... It happens VERY OFTEN... Just WHY? There is no explanation as to WHY they do that.
I'm sorry... It really takes me out of it. Like, I'm enjoying the whole plot but then from time to time you get the forced romance and language switching which doesn't make sense and it just ruins the experience.
Well given how much the poor dude suffered I was expecting MORE DRAMA out of Ji Hyeok according to your usual K Drama standard...
But call me pleasantly surprised. I was expecting him being angry for not that long because obviously, he's too far gone. It was obvious that the predominant feeling would be utter relief that the love of his life is still single...
But I LOVE that they ended up making him petty instead of furious 🤣 It made the whole episode so much more light-hearted than the previous weeks and I SO NEEDED this 🤗
Please keep the pettiness for one more episode and give us a kiss at the end of episode 10. THANK YOU!
EDIT: Ah yeah. Forgot to mention, the end of ep 9 doesn't count. Da Rim is just surprised and not into it so...
Why would she be blacklisted? She has a support role in the movie hana korea.
Seems like she finally got her feet back in the industry then.
It's not written in her description but there was a whole scandal years ago about a role her father refused because she wouldn't get enough money or whatev' and she ended up being replaced by Kim Sae Ron if I'm not mistaken (or another actress in the same age bracket). Anyway, after that she couldn't get any role in spite of her coming out from the success that was Okja. She did get two forgettable roles with unknown and or blacklisted actors but given her fame back then, she should have been an A-lister by now... which is not the case.
Anyway good for her. I'm sure her father really regretted his actions... poor girl was a minor and had no say in the whole hulabaloo. Hopefully she gets back the career she always deserved.
I can't with the female lead. It's my first time watching her so I don't know if the issue is her acting or the writing or both but her character is just not clicking for me. Apart from a few smiles here and there, she has one expression with is... no expression.
Honestly it's difficult to see how the ML who is MUCH MORE expressive feels anything for her. Let's be real here, no man, or person for that matter, would ever be attracted to somebody that appears this lifeless.
And again the romance is useless on top so not only that ship is sinking but it actually never even left the harbor. It's the one thing that truly irritates me. I hopes she gets lots of screentime because her involvement is important to the whole mystery and not just for selling this needless romance.
Otherwise, I personally found the start pretty slow but the drama started to really get interesting from episode 6 on... I'll see how I feel once I get to the finish line, but I already know it won't go above 9 because of the FL. Can't stand her.
The drama has already been completed... Just air it in 3 years when things die down. I've already waited 10 years for this fudging sequel, I can wait another 3. Just don't BOTCH the whole drama!!! GEEZ!
Honestly... So far (episode 5), the series's not outstanding but it's a pretty solid watch... But WHY of WHY do they need force a romance story-line? It's totally useless and completely out of tune with the overall mood of the drama...
The real happy ending is characters grow and become better ppl. I am not sure that will happen here
You are basically doing exactly what you're think you're denouncing. Judging people based on their taste and your perception of what people think, and being extreme at that. It's fine I guess. I personally really don't care if people like or not this show. Each one chooses how to spend their time... But conversing with you is not what I would call quality time for me so I'm quitting the discussion here.
I don't mind people having different opinions but the overly judgmental attitude is something I truly abhor. Seems it's becoming impossible to share different opinions online without people feeling the need to put down others. Truly sad.
The real happy ending is characters grow and become better ppl. I am not sure that will happen here
There's a time for everything. Sometimes people want to watch something deep and at others don't. That doesn't mean one is inferior to the other, just that it caters to different needs... Anyway... from your comment, it's clear you're not enjoying this series so personally I would have dropped it if I'm only hate-watching like you seem to be doing... but again I've also stuck with shows I didn't enjoy so who am I to judge...
The real happy ending is characters grow and become better ppl. I am not sure that will happen here
I'm not really sure what you mean by "better people" here. I don't think any of these characters are bad people nor that any of them need a whole lot of character growth, some just made discutable choices based on external circumstances.
I don't think that's the type of series where character growth is at the center of the story.
Hmm... I changed my mind. Ji Hyeok is so far gone, more than being angry, I think he's mostly going to feel relief to know that Da Rim is not really married.
He's probably gonna be angry for what... one episode?
And then he'll happily engage in a relationship with his employee who's officially married and it's going to blow up in their faces especially since the engagement article already came out and his marriage is on the way.
The fact that Ji Hyeok's older sister thinks she is ruining Ji Hyeok when in fact everything she does, aligns with what he truly wants is really funny.

At least it's timed perfectly for a happy ending on Christmas day ^^

GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ.
I finally decided to watch this one...
....
Is SmartBoom really a dead ship? Is there not even a 1% chance that these two will ever act together again? The chemistry is just I.N.S.A.N.E
Is this REALLY, REALLY the end?

Also if there really was sexual assault, let the victim talk about it. So far it's all rumors and hearsays... Just air that fudging drama.
