3. I had put my judgment on hold for Pin due to the fact that, as I had already said, it's easy to be all sweet when everything is going your way, it's another when you realize it's not... ESPECIALLY when your fiancé is giving lingering looks to another MAN which I'm sure, for women back then, must have been shocking so I'm not surprised... but I'm really surprised by how increasingly ANNOYED I get with each passing episode nonetheless.

(Personally if my fiancé rejects me for that reason, I would be happy in my misery. If he's in love with a man, that means it was game over from the start, and I had no chance whatsoever so not gonna dwell on it but maybe that's just me)

Same. I'd rather be mentally prepared. I watched TTEOTM as it aired and the ending crushed me. Definitely going to watch it... but if it's a sad ending, I'll wait to be in the right mood before risking my sensible heart.

I know. I SHOULD. For the life of me I can't watch thing at 2x speed nor can I skip scenes... Every time I try, I just fear I missed something and go back and end up wasting even more time. I ended up taking 2 hours to watch that episode. I would pause and then do something else, then go back etc.

It's not my first Modern C drama though... But it's true I don't watch a lot, I prefer their costume dramas because their Modern Romance always tend to drag a bit in my opinion... But THAT draggy? Honestly it's a first for me.

Like most people I think the second half looses steam compared to the first one ( and that's not even taking into account the unrealistic timeline) but it still had its moments.
If I remember well, episode 16 when they both meet the Russian husband and his Chinese wife was pure comedy... The first half of episode 26 was hilarious, best drunken scene EVER in the history of drunken scenes in ALL the dramas I've seen regardless of the country...

I'm tired of all the documentary about the dying process. I'm watching A DRAAAAAAMA not a fudging documentary!

I mean, It's not uninteresting in itself... IF I was travelling there or wanting to learn about it... But I'm not here for all that jazz! We've been focusing on the business aspect which is seriously tiring me out at this point but now I have to learn about dying techniques on top? Fudging Christ!

Also... The rate of Youth unemployment is sky-rocketting. Don't tell me they couldn't find somebody to take care of their company's accounts except for that sleezy ex... Qiao Lin was supposed to be this tough girl... turns out the real badass is Xu Yan and her older sister is a doormat.

Nah you're right. Most people rate AFTER the show has ended. But then you have those who are usually into "fanwars" who rate per episode to boost or tank a show for various reasons, most of the time fans or anti-fans... but sometimes It can be political or religious ( such as the recently aired Genie Make a Wish).

Usually a couple of days AFTER the show has ended you can see the ratings going up or down since people who were watching and doing the most sensible thing which is rating a show AFTER it has ended vote en masse.

BUT as Kn0cturnal has written below, MDL ratings don't mean anything anymore these days. You shouldn't even bother to even attempt to understand how it works. Some people are truly crazy. Creating fake accounts just to upvote or downvote some shows.

The World's average IQ has been going down since the end of the 80s (grossly, depends on which article you read) and you can see the effects on this platform.

For instance, take one drama I'm about to finish... Recently aired "Love's Ambition". The main actress is really popular... She obviously has anti-fans. So the overall per episode ratings started very strong for this one.... Around 8.9 if I'm not mistaken, then the rating when down to 8.3.

Could be because of the quality of the show itself... but then some very negative and misleading reviews ( to anyone WATCHING the show) started to appear when the show didn't even finish airing. So people looked it up.

Turns out most of these reviews were written from fake accounts whose owners had rated every single drama this actress acted in 1.

So what did some of MDL members do?
Laugh at how stupid some people are and move on with their lives?

NOPE. They created their own fake accounts to post fake positive reviews and rate 10 every single drama this actress starred in to "counterbalance".

Conclusion: I still believe the majority votes based on their opinion of the show but any ratings for a show that is currently airing or extremely recent doesn't mean anything since fanwars on this website are rampant. Don't pay attention to it, it's a waste of time. Comment section are more useful... as long as it doesn't degenerate into some political or religious warzone ( again Genie, Make a Wish).

Chen Guo gets way less screen time after a while... You're at the second half so from what I remember the focus is going to be the match and how their new team gets new members.... your appreciation will depend on what type of viewer you are ^^

Lol Yeah I forgot to add that one. Honestly who does that? Like literally given the size of her apartment, WHERE THE HELL are all of these clothes stored? Also if she really that busy, she wouldn't have time to change clothes and makeup every single scene... let alone every single day. Busy women wear t-shirts and jeans and only bother with fashion when they meet investors, journalists or potential clients...

But again this is a parallel universe, days are longer, magical closets exist and make up and clothes can be changed at a snap of one's fingers. So who am I to complain?

Lol. Chen Guo does get better at some point... BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT not gonna spoil... As I was finally not finding her so annoying, she did something dumber than dumb and still ANNOYED me. This being said that only happened once after she gets better, you'll see.

Xiao Tang is the same. She does get better... But her arrogance is still gonna cause trouble down the line... But to fair, literally almost ALL characters except for Ye Qiu, Yi Fan and the nerd suffer from some ego issues so she's not worse than the rest...

I've decided to accept that this drama is happening in a parallel universe where 1 month lasts at least half a year in our universe otherwise I'm gonna lose my sanity with how ridiculous the timeline is.

Literally quitting one's work as a host, finding a new place to live and move, then finding a job to stream indoor, then stream outdoor, then maintaining good relations with ChenChen making herself available whenever, entertaining Hao Ming's potential business partners, launching a clothing company with all the red tapes it requires + finding financements + making promotional videos + launching at least 2 collections + starting very small but managing to become very big thanks to the right investor and moving headquarters from an apartment to a whole floor and hiring I don't know how many employees + facing I don't know how many financial troubles + entering a clothe competition etc. ?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

AH! I forgot she still takes care of the demented mother in law of one of Hao Ming's business partner offscreen.

The show is still entertaining but I just can't take it seriously anymore. I understand they wanted to keep all of that under the "cooling off period" to rise the stakes so to speak, but the suspension of disbelief is literally through the... through nothing actually, it's lost in the vast void of our universe.

Like Naa wrote, she's open to forgive them... But based on what she and you wrote... They haven't properly apologized... I'll have to see if they even look a bit repentent but if not for that honestly... that's a disappointing point for me.

Ok I can now wait for the finale with a calm state of mind.... I'm not entirely satisfied with points 1... and ESPECIALLY 3 ( I wanted the parents to properly apologize) and 5 ( I don't know what I want for her but getting away with everything she's done big NOPE). But Ok. You can't have everything I guess... I'll see for point 8 then.^^

Overall a satisfying ending even if not entirely on certain points but maybe it was just impossible to get a truly satisfying ending on everything if not for adding another 10 episodes and it would have ruined the pace.

Dropped that one at episode 27. I remember it vividly because I was so near the end but I couldn't force myself anymore. Your review is so on point with how I felt. Really disappointed I couldn't see in this drama what most people apparently felt. Being part of the minority is not always fun. The fandom on this show when it aired was savage. As per usual, I was accused of being a troll. Something I've sadly gotten used on this platform in spite of always commenting with my main account.

The main actress is really pretty but her acting (or rather lack of) just felt completely flat from the episode to the episode I dropped it. She was expressionless throughout. I didn't understand what attracted the ML in her except for her pretty face.

Hopefully the novel is better. I bought it.

Lol Let's be real here. America does exactly the same. Most rich people come from very rich background and only a tiny fraction of the vast majority of people manage to get wealthy through pure hardwork, yet America sells it as "The American dream" when they're just selling a delusion.

Also Hao Ming might be wealthy but his parents have modest roots. They just manage to make their business flourish over years of hard work ( the usual dream of succeeding through hardwork when the reality is if the majority fails at it, your system is just broken).

On the contrary here, the way Xu Yan met Hao Ming is pretty realistic. She was a hard worker, managed to get a job for a big channel which gave her the opportunity to meet some filthy rich people including Hao Ming... Something that actually happens a lot in real life. How many journalists have ended married or going out with personalities they met on set? I know in my country I can name quite a few of them.

Also, I don't get where you got that idea, that we were supposed to bother with the world of the rich? I mean, we're all here only for the romance...

Regardless, that wasn't the point of my comment though. I don't mind the fillers per say, the issue is more that you can feel nothing is happening because it's only one episode a day. I wouldn't feel like it, if it was more, hence the fact that I'm just going to personally wait and binge.

PS: Also I'm watching on Viki personally so no express. I have to wait for the official run to finish on We-tv to get all episodes on the platform.

True the series's been slowing down since episode 20... Very common' in C dramas overall. Airing only one episode a day doesn't help either... Tencent probably wants to drag their success longer by dragging it for three weeks instead of 2.

Personally after watching episode 23 on Viki which was mostly fillers... though not necessarily the bad kind, I've decided to just wait until at least episode 30 is available on the platform and binge episode 24 to the end.

Romance centered C dramas all have some fillers at some point, usually I don't mind... but it's only when I can binge. When you can't it's really annoying when you watch a whole episode where not much is happening, followed by another episode of the same and followed by another episode of the same until finally after 3 to 4 episodes sometimes more, things are picking up again.

If we got 2 episodes a day that wouldn't be as annoying but if you have to wait for almost a week to get back to the meat of the story, you're bound to disappoint people.

I'm glad I took that decision. Reading the comments, it was the right call. This pace problem will make me downrate this series but for now it's moving from a 10 to a 9, not a dramatic fall in my book but we'll see how I feel when I reach the end.
