People may not agree with me but I find it awkward to see a man in fifties doing romance with woman in thirties.…
Not really, you're not the first one who have said it. Every time this drama pops up on the main page I check again that they haven't changed the main actress. Personally, age gap only goes so far... 10 years is acceptable but 18 years? Honestly most women this age, even if they prefer older men wouldn't be attracted to a man in his fifties unless they're seeking some form of "paternal protection". I'm older than the FL and I still think this dude's too old for me.

Anyway, unless the age gap is a central theme in the drama ( for instance Witch's Romance starred Park Seo Joon and Uhm Jung Hwa, both are IRL 19 years apart and the age was literally the central theme of the drama), for me I'm sorry but it is VERY AWKWARD ( I would even go as far as saying borderline gross). Dude could be HER FATHER for the love of God.

At least the FL is past her 30s... Still there's no mention of the age gap being a thing in the main summary, maybe that will change. I sincerely hope so. I would have preferred Im Ji Yeon paired with Kim Ji Hoon (it's about TIME that poor guy gets a lead role) but Lee Jung Jae is riding on his Squid Game Fame so there's that.

Now they're both good actors... so hopefully they'll manage to sell it (with a heavy use of filters to make everybody look dashingly young) to even the most skeptical of us... But for now, I'm also on the fence ( and a very high one might I add.)

Not gonna work. Not the same budget. Also River Where the Moon Rises wasn't preproduced. It was one of this show…
They had to reshoot ALL the scenes the ML was in with another actor.
It was a huge headache. They took a one week ( or 2, it's been a while I'm not sure) break to change the ML for episode 5 and on ( knowing they had actually shot more episodes) and reshot episode 1 to 4 that were uploaded on OTT platforms later for consistency.

Anyway, the whole cast and crew went through hell to respect the delays... all for a scandal that turned out to be completely false in the end since it was later revealed they had lied. Ji Soo could have sued their lying a** but he chose to let the matter drop as he's already been cancelled by the whole country and people are saying he paid the lyers to make a statement denying the reality of things.

Which just doesn't add up but whatev.

I think Disney + hoped that the whole scandal was just a massive lie, but now that so many proofs have come out... they're a bit stuck.

Just replace the ML like they did with River Where the Moon Rises.
Not gonna work. Not the same budget. Also River Where the Moon Rises wasn't preproduced. It was one of this show that is aired as it is produced so if I remember well, only 4 episodes had been aired with Ji Soo.
This one is almost entirely done and they put LOTS of money in. I would expect given the budget, quite a lot of post-production involved. Anyway. Really not the same.

Oh, Shen Yi using art therapy and psychology maybe hard for some people to swallow, but as an artist, I got it.…
Lol I think it's more a matter of what type of viewer you are. As an artist myself... It didn't work for me. But again, one of the issue I had among other things was that he was never introduced as an expert in psychology and yet now he was behaving like one. Anyway. I'm glad you liked it. I personally don't regret dropping it, it was definitely the right call as it was obviously not a season I would enjoy.

That's what I thought. I don't know who paid whom, but they're clearly desperate to save their Titanic. The boat has sunk. It's time to apologize. There's no coming back from this, but at least he should try to get back some shred of decency in the eyes of the public by apologizing to the family.

Blackmailed Into Marriage, Abortion — Kim Sae Ron’s Bombshell Voice Recordings Exposedhttps://www.koreaboo.com/news/bombshell-voice-recordings-kim-sae-ron-released-alleged-husband/?cb=jxvsLg&s=09
This is becoming really crazy by the minute. Is this really true or is it some form of diversion tactics from Kim Soo Hyeon?

Either way: Doesn't change the fact that this guy is a pedo.

2. I ask for forensics for anything that is released now because it is turning a whole media circus. Everybody is releasing everything and anything.

Too much money involved. First season is already filmed... Second season is already half finished. No statement from Disney +...

Personal guess. They're gonna wrap it up as planned... and then they're going to shelve it for at least 2 to 3 years (maybe more) until the outrage dies down.

Doesn't mean he'll be able to make a comeback to the industry of course, I think he's literally screwed for life, after all this is South Korea ( though some actors have managed to make a comeback in spite of some sex scandals... BUT pedophilia is on a whole other level) but I feel for the rest of the cast and crew.

Btw, that drama wasn't even on my radar. Only came to learn about if because of the current scandal.

Well update.
Turns out you were right.

The law was revised in 2020. Before that year, the age of consent was indeed 13 years old. So basically anything that happened before can't be used for prosecution.

Hence, that pedo is off the hook I guess because I don't think they can legally prosecute his a***

Koreans are running out of ideas! Industry is juggling between manhwa adaptions and remakes.
Chinese are mostly adapting novels.
Thais are also adapting novels...

Everybody's been adapting novels since the beginning of the history of cinema as well as remakes. Couple of years ago I watched a youtube documentary that was speaking about it. Turns out lots of movies I watched in my youth were actually remakes... I just didn't know they were because the remakes were more popular than the original material it was adapted from. And some of these remakes... were remakes themselves.

Now that Webtoons, Mangas, Manhwas, Comics... etc are popular Of course, they make adaptation. It also brings more sales to the original work.

I mean it's not necessarily because they're out of ideas... but it's a sure bet. When you adapt a story that is already popular, there's less risks of it completely crashing down (recently there was this "space drama" with "fresh ideas" that crashed and burn so you can see where they're coming from) compared to something completely new.

Everything has always been made. Everything is just a repackaging of old ideas at its core. Take any story and summarize in two sentences, and most of them will turn out to be the same.

It's not about stories being made out of new ideas... It's how about well written it is.

Actually no. The age of consent is 16 in South Korea. If the other party is older than 19 (which was the case for Kim Soo Hyun), it is considered by law as statutory rape.

Hence the fact that that they're arguing about the age of Kim Sae Ron when they started their relationship, because Kim Soo Hyun could very well be legally prosecuted. Though obviously he could still argue that he "waited" until she was of age...

That might not be what the family wants since they knew and were therefore complicit ( though I'd argue that you can't really forbid a teenager to do what they want...)... but given how it completely blew over, the state regardless of the family's wishes could very well prosecute him.

Oh... Well I don't worry for him. But as said. I don't want a culprit to become a "victim". He must remain a culprit, and hence should be punished accordingly but not through online bullying...
Though I must admit that given how misogynistic South Korea is overall, I understand the strong reactions.

Actually yes they do... Unfortunately, It's the coward's way and very likely in south Korea.

Actor Jo Min Ki committed suicide a couple of years ago due to accusation of sexual misconducts with his female students. There was never any justice done because he didn't even last a month after the accusations came out.

No justice for the victims.

You could argue that's the minority. Maybe. Still at the end of the day, I think we all agree we want justice for the victims and that is impossible if you push the culprit to the brink.

This being said, the list of victims you mentioned is unfortunately a reflection of South Korea's overall misoginy and public pressure. These are public figures who had to face public backlash on top of what they were going through... But what they went through... is unfortunately very common in this country.
Koreans complain about social pressure and yet they're the first to inflict it on their fellow countrymen.

So apparently there're pictures that are even more intimate but even the family doesn't want these pictures to be released publicly. Given all that's been revealed, I hope this guy gets cancelled permanently.

After all:

Ji Soo: Bullying scandal. It was revealed later that basically poor dude was framed though he admitted it at first in order to not burden his co-stars and crew for the drama he was filming at the time. In spite of the other parties making a public statement saying they lied, he is still cancelled to this day and had to relocate to the Phillipines. Well, just glad he didn't commit suicide.

Park Hye Soo: Bullying scandal. Again, framed for nothing. She always denied the allegations and Dispatch revealed it was completely false... Has yet to make a come back to the industry.

Yoo Ah In: Drug scandal. Became addicted due to treatment against his depression. Took some "extra" illegally. Got sent to prison. Still cancelled to this day.

etc.

...

And we have a groomer and pedophile who is trending here and apparently part of South Korea is divided on the subject... when there's many proofs including non-released explicit photos that the family themselves don't want to come out.

I don't partake in online bullying。 And I don't care for the private life of actors... If you are a cheater, well, morally wrong sure, but not to the point of being cancelled。 If you're an asshole but a good actor, why should I care? But when it comes to rapists, pedophiles or murderers that's were I think "not caring" has its limits.
Hopefully, once everything dies down, he gets properly cancelled for life. And I mean by that any future work. What he has already done is done. You can't deny the quality of his work, and there's no point in cancelling work from a whole crew and cast for the act of a single person. If you feel uncomfortable watching him again that's ok, it's a matter of personal choice. There's no need to worry for him, he's filthy rich, probably got investments here and there, he's not going to have any issues financially speaking. He'll get back on his feet eventually maybe with a less lavish lifestyle.

This being said, what he did might not be condemned by the law ( I'm not really sure what is the age of consent in SK) but the relationship itself and the pressure he and his agency put on this poor girl is utterly despicable and disgusting. Maybe not condemnable by the law, but still not acceptable.
But it's done.

Information has to come out but the bullying?
Not a fan.

Just like Kim Sae Ron was bullied online, there's no point in bullying this actor either.
If he ends up taking his own life because of it... You'll have turned a "culprit" into a "victim" and once that's done, who will remember the first victim of the story?

I think they're going to make that reveal at the very end... hopefully with a very public kiss from Hae Song to his 'teacher' just to make sure Yu Jeong cringes to infinity. Wouldn't be fun otherwise.

I'm sorry I'm shocked at Q's hygiene in this drama:

1. Urinates standing up. Disgusting. You're gonna put droplets of your "liquid" all over the toilet seat. JUST NO.

2. Cutting your nails... at a table full of food. Seriously who does that? One of your nail can fly over in one of the plate. Just plain disgusting. Also there's a time and place for that type of thing. Either the bathroom, outside or at least sitting on the floor to avoid your disgusting nails ending up where it shouldn't be.

Who the hell wrote that script? Does this person has ANY hygiene? How come nobody said ANYTHING?

Ewww...🤢🤢🤢

So... Almost 2 years since I watched my last GMMTV BL drama...

I had forgotten their shameless PPL. Gotta to say, it made my day when I saw the Choco Pie PPL. GMMTV, as always, is shining with its "subtle" product placements.

Is this drama good?

No

Is it bad?

... It's what it is... Very GMMTV, very mid.

This channel does have some really good dramas but the majority is like this one: Not good, not terrible, just mediocre.

Well I like Ohm and I was in a mood for some romantic BL so I gave that one a chance. 4 episodes in and the romance feels honestly pretty forced. Ohm is wonderful as usual but my God does he needs to branch out. His talent is wasted here.

For Leng apparently it's his first lead role.... Well it SHOWS.
That's where I have a problem. His performance is just weak. Whenever he's supposed to be angry, he's got the same face but there's a difference between being angry because you're worried, being angry at a stranger etc... Honestly there was a scene in which he's supposed to argue with Min, and I was thinking " My God, that face is not being angry, this is the face of somebody who hate the other party". You can see he's making an effort, but it's awkward and overacted.

Now it is his fault?

Obviously not. He's just starting...

But do we really need to pair somebody who is so lacking in acting experience next to Ohm who's got literally almost 10 years of experience under his belt? GMMTV you're doing your actor a huge disservice. No matter how hard he's gonna try, the contrast is just jarring.

Either pair him with somebody who is just starting like him or who is way less experienced... And make him act in dramas that are lighter for starters or give him more side roles before making him a lead.

Well that was their last BL pair drama together so there's that. Dunno the reason. Don't care for the BL fanwars or whatever. I wish him the best.

For Ohm though... Apparently you don't have a good fit for BLs in GMMTV and you've acted in plenty of straight projects. You're too good to rot here. Bright, who I personally think is not as good as you, got out once his contract finished... Be wise and do the same thing. That's probably the best you can do for your carreer... And if it doesn't work, you can still come back. Singto did it. You have a strong enough fanbase to risk it.

Well, still gonna finish this one for Ohm. The episodes are pretty short and I don't want to watch something too intense so that will do for now.

AH Forgot!

Eating Fried chicken and pizza with sick people. Great idea.
