That person won't see my message but doesn't matter. It's cool some people liked the show, people like me who didn't like it are not bullying other to dislike it, likewise if you enjoyed it, great for you, that doesn't give you the right to bully others. No amount of bullying is gonna save the ratings of this show. I personally never rate shows I dropped - it's a personal policy - but whether people dropped it or not doesn't matter, the majority disliked it and that's final. Might go up in a couple of months... But honestly I doubt it will pass the 8 ratings mark.
Now if you're reading this comment and you're on the fence about trying this show. I suggest you read some reviews from people who liked it AND people who disliked it and saw ALL episodes before writing said reviews ( too many people writing reviews without watching shows in their entirety these days) before wasting your precious time.
It's "only" 12 episodes, but 12 episodes can feel very long when the story is a drag. But again, that's my personal opinion. Some people enjoyed it and there's also positive reviews so take your pick. Or you could give it a try for 4/6 episodes before making your opinion... But if you dislike the first 4 episodes, well, drop it. It's not gonna get better trust me... And I'm somebody who enjoyed the show up to episode 6.
Lol I just read your review-- I completely agree, especially on how everyone magically did a 180 in the final…
Well you're harsher than me lol. I personally never was irritated by Kang Hee but you do have a point when you wrote: "she's stubborn to a point of actual stupidity and so weak when it comes down to the moments where she actually needs to be strong"
Though we're on the same line... You could have given 1 for the cinematography though 🤣
Why do so many people hate FL? Can someone give me some warnings before I watch this?
I personally never hated her at the beginning and still don't (episode 11) or rather I don't know if I hate her or not. While I understand why she behaves the way she does... How can I put I... SHE IS SOOOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING TO WATCH!
I feel SO SO SO SO drained by all the repetition of the same cycle over and over and over again. At 1 episode from the end seriously, still behaving the same way as episode 1 is just ANNOYING AS F***
I feel as tired as all of these characters. Current rating personally at the middle of episode 11: 4 Because this drama sucks my energy dry.
Will see if it goes up or lower but I don't think the last episode will make me change my mind. If you frustrate your viewers too much, there's just a point when they no longer care even if you give them a satisfying ending.
Soooooo... just finished episode 11. This has been a beautiful, frustrating and punishing watch. I'm still all…
LOL. Of course you're happy to finish this:
1. The relief of FINALLY getting rid of one of the most frustrating watch of the year ( probably but the year is long).
2. Seeing your watching list , you seem to belong to the same category as I am: The type who keeps tracks of things and keeps a meticulous up to date list ( which is not necessarily what the majority of members on this website does, most lists are pretty messy).
And so I'm assuming you also get a weird satisfaction for having completed a drama and adding a line on you "watched list". I know I endured lots of shitty dramas because of it just because of the "feeling of completion" no matter how weird it is.
Anyway good for you. Just finished episode 10 this morning and I think I'm going to end the day with Love Scout. Took me 3 days to finish episode 10 due to quote "many breaks out of sheer frustration with the FL".
Can't watch more today so, I'm leaving episode 11 for tomorow morning BUT definitely finishing this show TOMORROW because I can't bear to keep this longer on my list.
The character study was interesting but MY GOD the execution was poor. No beautiful cinematography could save that script.
SOOOOOOOO Interesting characters. Messy situations. Poor execution. Exhausting watch. I've been feeling tired since episode 6 and some people had already dropped it at that point. The whole new love story with Yeon Soo's mum... is ridiculous. You can already tell her "love interest" is a crook from the start and the mother believing this sh*** just goes to show how naive... or rather STOOPID she is... which means that people cleaning her mess are just doing her a disservice by supporting her STOOPIDITY. But you know why it's here?
Might be wrong, but I bet Kang Hee is gonna save this woman's ass by episode 16 and all the years of prejudices will be swept under the rug because Yeon Soo's mum is going to forgive Kang Hee for existing I guess. Daddy's gonna die for the same reason. Nothing better than your impending death to get forgiveness for your misgievings.
Also seems like the affair wasn't even an affair. They sure went out together, maybe finding comfort in each others' company but it doesn't mean it went any farther than this. It's again that whole village overall racism towards that Kang Hee's mother that played a role in the rumor. Thank GOD her mother wasn't black, that would have turned WAY uglier.
It's OKAY. I'll finish this one two... But my current rating... based on episode 10 is... a 6. Will it get any lower? Here is the question...
Ah yeah no spoiler tag because I don't care any more. Since this drama is going round in circles, I'm not spoiling anything.
Just like Check in Hanyang, this one had the ingredients for something good but completely failed but at least Check in Hanyang has a plot behind. This one is a melo hence the only thing going for it is character progression, but these characters have been going round the same circle over and over again since episode 1.
Btw is it just me who think they had better chemistry when they weren't together?
THANK GOD, Study Group is currently airing. At least I can cleanse my poor frustrated brain with some well deserved fun.
i had the same issue of feeling bored midway too. i read episode summaries for a few eps and then it picked back…
Ok. Finally wrote that review. I almost gave up doing it but since I had said I'd do it, I did it. Couldn't put even a 10th of what I wanted to say... But I think it's a story interesting to discuss with people IRL because on paper it would probably require a 50 pages essay ^^
Don't know if it's your style but give a try to Study Group! I think you might be surprised, my favorite of 2025…
Lol I just started it yesterday actually ^^ AND I'M LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURVING IT!
But again you're talking to a lifelong manga fan ^^ I'm talking lifelong here, was a huge fan even before it even was popular... at a time when Internet didn't exist (the amount of hoops I had to do to access them you have no idea). Anyway, it's actually the first series of the year that I am truly excited about :D The first episode was such a banger, my God! JUST.GIMME.MOOOOOOOOOORE
Also it finishes just before Undercover Agent starts ^^ Just the perfect watching schedule.
I know you from the Undercover High School comment section, I’m glad you’re watching Study Group! Fun high…
Yeah I'm right in the mood for some comedy high school shenanigans and this one fits right my alley 😆Bit tired of the meh romance we've been getting lately. Some were entertaining but not great, some started well went downhill, some are just plain frustrating. Needless to say... It's time to switch genre. But this one is really addictive ^^ Definitely gonna catch up by the time episode 7 comes out ^^ And it finishes just as Undercover High School starts so... the watching schedule is PER-FECT.
Will never be worse than Rain in Full House. There were some scenes in which he was supposed to be a high school…
I wouldn't say he aged well. He just got stuck at whatever age he jumped to 😂 But it's true there were less filters. I maintain he looked 30+ per Korean standards though.
Seo Kangjoon is playing an adult undercover as a student but he's STILL not the oldest actor to play a high schooler…
Will never be worse than Rain in Full House. There were some scenes in which he was supposed to be a high school and MY GOD it was horrible. Dude was only 22 back then... but he just never looked his age. I wouldn't say he looked old per say but let's just say he skipped the "teenage stage", the "20 years-old stage" and jumped straight to 30+
Reminds me of one my classmate in high school. She always looked old. I showed the class picture to my mum back then, and the first thing she asked was if that classmate of mine was my HOMEROOM TEACHER.
but there is no indication of an affair here, ML's father was probably taking FL's mother to the airport who wanted…
Well I haven't watched episode 10 so I don't know. But it wouldn't surprise me that there was no affair in the first place, given how this village has a tendency to create their own movie from other people's lives out of nothing.
Was enjoying this up to two weeks ago... but I have to admit I'm started to get worn out. I still don't get the hate the FL is getting... but the whole situation is still messy and I wish they had done some "cleaning up" by now.
But I've only got 3 episodes left to watch so that's another drama I'll finish... Current personal rating... between 7.5 and 8 for this one... but that might go lower. As said, I'm getting tired.
Not a good start for 2025 in K dramaland for me. Love Scout is entertaining but not great, it's an 8 or 8.5 tops, Check in Hanyang started well went downhill, 7...
This one... is interesting for the human relationship aspect... But the leads situations has been messy since the first episode and by now they should have resolved parts of their issues but basically nope. I don't see how everything is gonna get cleaned by next week... So it won't be above 8 for sure... and it won't go below 6... but how much I am going to give depends a lot of what the last 3 episodes are gonna deliver...
But not watching episode 10 now... Continuing another drama in parallel, this one just sucks my energy dry.
Hopefully Undercover Agent delivers... I'm really crossing my fingers for that one.
Well, her mum and his dad's death was beautiful karma. Not only were they having an affair but also planning on…
I've noticed you have a serious issue with drama featuring cheating people. Everytime, I see one your comment popping out. Now I'm not saying it's right to cheat... but nothing is black and white. I've only watched up to episode9 so I don't know if episode 10 explains in more details why both their marriages fell apart but it's South Korea and a village. Divorcing in this country is not the same as Western countries, the stigma is huge particularly for the women. If you look a bit into Korean society, you'll see that lots of woman stay in unhappy marriage because of all the stigma that goes in divorcing even when their husband has cheated and has had a child with another woman.
Sometimes people seek comfort to their situation elsewhere, that doesn't make it right for sure, but if as a spouse you've been neglected for years, your partner doesn't change his ways in spite of you having made compromises and being utterly depressed, and you see no way out of your situation, well I don't think anybody has the right to judge and call these people's deaths as "karma".
Leaving the children, sure not right. But if you embark on an uncertain future with no financial security, better leave your children where you're sure they'll have a more stable future. Again I'm not saying cheating is right, I'm just saying desperation make people take drastic decision. Better leave your kids with your husband and make them curse you than commit suicide for instance. Also children grow up, at some point they'll get to the same age and will understand why certain choice have been made even if they were "collateral dammage", that's personal experience talking here.
Let's show a bit more compassion towards human beings since one can never know what might happen in one's life. Children living with unhappy parents are better off staying with a more stable home with a single parent in my opinion.
You avoid watching shows during the Ramadhan?I'm just asking out of curiosity. I know people who avoid watching…
It's not that bad ^^At least you'll be able to avoid being tortured weeks after weeks. You'll be able to binge all ep just before the finale since most dramas that are about to start are 12 episodes so 6 weeks... compared to 4 weeks of Ramadhan. Not a bad deal.
you're already over halfway. For a drama about palace intrigue and family infighting, it wasn't even on the deep…
Oh I'm wrapping it for sure. Probably this week... Got 9 episodes left so given I usually watch 2 to 3 episodes a day for C dramas, it's probably gonna take 3 to 4 days. But it took a long time.. Started this one almost 3 months ago. I do belong to the minority that thinks the second half is better than the first one but probably because in the second half they're fighting back whereas in the first half it was just misery on top misery.
That person won't see my message but doesn't matter. Even wrote a full RANT about it: https://kisskh.at/profile/Kannadin/reviews/429774
Final rating 3.
Now I want to forget this show.
But just in case you're wondering... My problem with this show, is not with the characterization of the FL.
I feel SO SO SO SO drained by all the repetition of the same cycle over and over and over again. At 1 episode from the end seriously, still behaving the same way as episode 1 is just ANNOYING AS F***

FINALLY a GREAT drama to start 2025.
SO SO SO GOOD!
Wasn't even on my radar at all. Such a great surprise!

Seriously.
We were just 16 back then.
