Im sensing jealous hating bitch energy from Ye na. Why did she make the sister carry all her shopping bags? If…
I really hope Yu Jeong realizes that Ye Na is not seeing her as a friend. This girl looks down on her and she uses Yu Jeong to feel good about herself as a charity case. If Yu Jeong ever gets the best grade, you can be sure she's gonna show her true colors. Hae Seong is not responsible for that shitty behavior of hers. The bag thing is just another example of how bad a "friend" she is but it's been shown since the first episode that Ye Na is not looking at Yu Jeong like an equal and treating her as such.
Of course that could be me seeing the bad in everything but I've seen that type of "friends" literally everywhere from primary to middle to high school it irks me when I see people who are around these types who know these persons are bad for them but still stick to them because they literally have no self-esteem.
Honestly Im liking this drama more then I thought I would I cant wait for her to find out hes not actually a student.…
I totally get you. BUT! You have to remember that she actually first got attracted to him when he was "posing" as an adult. Her brain probably can't reconcile with that first impression because if she truly saw him as a 17 years old... she would not feel ANY attraction. Also he's not acting like a 17 years old either so that doesn't help.
17 years olds are idiots particularly when you're past your 30s. Seriously when I see 30 ish people going out with kids who just got the "adult pass" on their ID, I'm like, yeah might be legal but seriously wtf?
why is her heart fluttering for a "student" bro 😠why is she at a "students" house so late at night ??? she…
Might feel strange but in South Korea, the homeroom teacher's job goes farther than just teaching in class. Hae Seong is supposed to live alone so of course she would check on him as a guardian.
So I initially thought that "Quiznos" was some form of made-up brand for the show because NO WAY a real company is going for such big advertisement in literally the whole show right? Usually it's just a couple of scenes where the characters are eating but here it's literally the headquarters ( which is ri-di-cu-lous but also the best PPL ever). BUT I ended up checking... No way it exists. To showcase a brand that much in a single drama would have cost a LOT even Subway didn't do it.
Turns out it does! Geez! Never heard of it!
Good job though! Any sandwich is good when toasted. I personally really enjoy "paninis". It's a kind of sandwich with some italian bread (hence the name) that is toasted. Always found it sad there was not more bread when it's toasted ( 'cuz it becomes real flat) but turns out Quiznos has made their bread thicker.
Thank you (NOT) for the cravings... BUT fortunately, this food chain doesn't exist in my country so here! I'm saved esp. since these sandwiches are not light in the calorie department.
On a side note, episode 4 was PER-FECT from start to finish. I've rewatched the dance I don't know how many times. How could they make me suffer from second hand-embarassement SO BAD but at the same time make me find the whole thing so freakin' cool is beyond me.
Would anyone mind telling me that does the romance revolve around the ml and the teacher?? Cuz if it doesn't then…
Of course it does. Come on' they're literally both on the poster... But don't expect lots of it though... at least for the first 4episodes. It's mostly comedy so far. Probably gonna get more once the teacher knows the ML is NOT a high school student but it's not the main genre.
Honestly My Dearest Nemesis should have been on weekends as When The Stars Gossip's replacement. My Dearest Nemesis…
Maybe... But I doubt it. Otherwise K channels would produce more thrillers and less rom-coms. Channels wants to make money after all. There are always thrillers that stand out but the overall audience is basically won by romance or if you want to include thrillers... Romantic thrillers. You could argue that in terms of quality, thrillers tend to be better... But it doesn't change the amount of viewers you get which is globally less. Sageuks... Used to get lots of audience in the early 2000s and South Korea used to produce a LOT of them... But that has changed, it doesn't bring as much audience as before. Fusion sageuks fare better though... but they qualify more as "Fantasy" than real sageuk and are usually... (Fictional) Historical Romance.
You see that phenomena everywhere. In literature, a chick lit or a romantasy is never going to get you this high profile literature price... But most readers are women and at the end of the day Romance sells best... Recently watched a youtube video from an editor on the subject and it was really interesting but the bottom line was: when it comes to literature (not talking about comics), doesn't matter the country, it's Romance that's bringing you big money.
This being said, even if it wasn't the case, it doesn't change the point of my first post.
Honestly My Dearest Nemesis should have been on weekends as When The Stars Gossip's replacement. My Dearest Nemesis…
Well I don't think airing a rom com when the other two shows are in different genres ( one is more a highschool action comedy, the other a thriller with romance in both but not as the main genre - from I've seen of Buried Heart, not watching the show yet so not entirely sure) is a bad idea per say... Viewers have different genres available so that's great if you're in the mood for one particular genre...The main issue I see with their lineup is:
1. Potato Lab should have started last week.
2. Don't air two rom coms back to back. So either they finish My Dearest Nemesis, and start this one. Or vice versa. It's basically the same genre, 4 days in a row from the same channel >_< AFTER another romance.
I mean yeah romance tend to fare better compared to thrillers But come on', if you don't vary your genres your audience is going to get bored. MBC and SBS made the right call: SBS aired a romantic comedy followed by a thriller, MBC aired a Romance Melo followed by an Action Comedy... But What did tvN do?
Love Your Enemy : Romantic Comedy When the Star Gossip: Romantic Comedy Potato Lab : Romantic Comedy.
I pity tvN and the cast. They had this major flop with "When the Stars Gossip" and now they're launching this show... except Undercover Highschool and Buried Heart both started last week so people whose time is limited have already started one of the two or both... Finding time for a third one... When tvN is already airing a rom-com on Monday and Tuesday that is entering its third week? Nah. Not gonna work.
I don't think this show is gonna do well... Even if it's good. Though I'm going to lurk here to see what people think of it before giving it some of my time... More excited about "My Dearest Nemesis" but I'm unfortunately really running out of time to watch dramas this month.
Also dunno what's happening to Netflix for the past 6 months+ but literally most of the most successful shows have gone to Viki. Not complaining though. I don't have a Netflix subscription.
No opinion at present given I just started... First season was already pretty nonsensical so I learned to enjoy the ride without really worrying about realism with this show...
BUT. I wish it was available on Viki.
iQiyi tends to overly cut its English subtitles. I've been a subscriber for over 3 years and that issue has STILL not been resolved. The problem with that is that it gives very disjointed sentences and VERY VERY often the subtitles don't have enough time to appear so you need to rewind to see the parts that didn't appear on your screen.
Initially I though it was because iQiyi's inside program sucked... but then I realized I NEVER have this problem when I'm watching a Thai show on their website... Which means it comes from their overcutting subs which makes the viewing experience NOT a pleasant one.
I'm just glad I never spent more than 30€ on their yearly subscription because It wouldn't be worth it otherwise...
I'm dreaming of the day I'll be fluent in Chinese and just get rid of these subs altogether.
(Btw if you ever had any intention of subscribing there and live in Europe, you need to create an account USING A VPN otherwise even if you use a VPN after, you'll never be able to see content that is geo-restricted in your region == > I recommend Taiwan or Hong Kong. Avoid Thailand. Some shows are edited specifically for Thai audience)
There will be a special episode just dedicated to Cir with a "sharp tongue" and shy nerdy Phu ^^ (and fingers…
I hope they make it available on iQiyi at some point. They had me with "Love in the Air". I thought the movie will never be freely available like the Tharntype marriage movie (Which I haven't seen) so I paid for it only to realize they released it for free on iQiyi one month after I had seen it. So I'll be saving my money this time. You had me once, you won't have me twice even if I'm really curious about that version.
OH! Hadn't heard about this. Thanks for the article MDL. I personally loathe these types of youtubers that are basically feeding their ego by making a spectacle out of real victims so I'm glad to see that the trailer features a ML I found just as unlikable as these people IRL.
Now apart from he mystery aspect of this, what angle are they gonna take? Are they going to make the egotistical youtuber change his ways by the end of the show or is he still going to make entertainment to satisfy his egotistical tendencies. I'm actually more interested into the human aspect though I don't doubt the murderer is gonna like that "streaming attention" just like Woo Sang and is gonna kill more people "for sport".
Well I'll be tuning if the show's isn't too graphic... Might wait for a couple of episodes to air just to be sure.
Actually people do that , not everyone knows that can cause more damage , they're usually panicking about getting…
Yeah well hadn't seen that from that point of view. For me it made sense that they'd be extra careful not to do any further damage given they already messed up real bad.
People who are hired for money and they hit the wrong person. And the person they hit is their boss's son, what…
Actually no, with so many witnesses AND having hit the wrong person, the most logical reaction would be
1/ To panic.
2/ To leave the Cyr's body there and flee before any of the witness has the "terrific idea" of taking a picture of the car's number and/or see their faces clearly.
3/ Make up a story for their boss to clear them of any suspicion of being those who harmed Cyr. Because you can be sure that their Boss is NOT gonna be happy they landed Cyr at the hospital on top of having witnesses of the did on top of taking the body risking the police to find them back. There's sure to be consequences. When you're a goon you care about yourself, not the boss' child.
That's just sheer stupidity just like trying to hit someone with a car DURING THE DAY ON A CAMPUS when there's way more risk of having witnesses.
But again not the cleverest writing in the room so there's that.
Ok except from the terrible beginning, Ep 8 was pretty nice. I want more "shitty personality Cyr" and nerdy Phu and "shitty personality CEO" Cyr and "bullied employee" Phu.
OH COME ON! Less than 1 minute in episode 8 and I already need to turn my brain off. WHO CARRIES SOMEBODY THAT JUST HAS BEEN HIT BY A CAR?
Seriously have you EVER seen that? You don't know if the victim has damaged his backbone, you never EVER carry carelessly somebody who's fallen on the ground which is why there's ALWAYS a stretcher >_< Geeeeeeeeezus
Literally, I'm not asking for realism but this is not a manga adaptation, let's be a bit serious two seconds...
The storyline is beyond my IQ Level. Someone pls explain thanks.
I personally don't think it's that complicated. I'm theory "Cyr has a multi-personality disorder" and these parallel Bs is his way of making something rational out of his multiple delusions. BUT I haven't watched episode 8 yet.
The whole "daddy mourning scenes" are terribly written. Again, it's horrible writing from MAME. Like I get it, you want to emphasize that Phu is this very fragile uke that needs Cyr's protection and his "vulnerability" is supposed to wake the seme's protective side... In novel form, probably there's lots of inner monologues from the seme commenting about how vulnerable this poor uke is and Mister Muscular Manly Handsome Seme is gonna do EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER to make sure the Uke is never gonna get hurt again yada yada yada. By the same token, Mister Fragile but Beautiful and his skin is SO WHITE uke is finally gonna feel SAFE for the first time in Mister Muscular Manly Handsome Seme's arms... All the while creating some form of "emotional connection" between both characters so that their mutual attraction comes from more than "pure lust"...
SURE. I see the intention, but the execution is just DREAD-FUL. All these lines feel so forced, the hugs and looks just seem weird and out of place. Can't get into it at all... and I'm not blaming the actors. I'm blaming this terrible script. Daddy's been six feet under for 5 years now. I'm not saying it's your happiest day of the year, but no way people behave like this AFTER 5 YEARS. Just like Phu's mother not coming to Thailand due to her husband's death... But again, it's just poor writing. We need Phu to rely entirely on Cyr to strengthen their romantic bond so we have to make sure he doesn't have a strong support system from his family... which is something we see in literally all MAME's works.
Gee. Basically everything about the mystery, lies and attraction part is okay (thanks to BossNoeul's natural chemistry, otherwise this show would be unwatchable in my opinion) but as soon as we get into trauma explanation, real feelings that are not related to anything romantic, it goes down the drain.
I understand why everyone is hating on MAME now. Anything romance with fragile uke protective and possessive seme is done well and if that's your jam, you can satisfy your cravings with her stories... BUT everything else sucks.
So anyway 20 minutes from the end of ep 7. Current personal rating 8 so far.
I genuinely thinks it deserves less... But BossNoeul have such great chemistry - when the lines aren't too ridiculous - that I'm still enjoying myself nonetheless.
This being said , I REALLY HOPE BossNoeul do another drama that isn't from this writer next. She just sucks.
Of course that could be me seeing the bad in everything but I've seen that type of "friends" literally everywhere from primary to middle to high school it irks me when I see people who are around these types who know these persons are bad for them but still stick to them because they literally have no self-esteem.
