Are we getting parallel universes?Just a thought:Every time Great changes the future, a new branch is created…
LOL I actually wrote that theory just below yours but I went into more details :D Well not exactly the same as yours because my take is: yes there's different timelines but the show is purposefully showing them at the same time but there's no crossover.
On 4Minutes (Sultrier Version) Aug 17, 2024
Ok I couldn't resist and ending up watching the whole episode... I'm going to regret this when I wake tomorrow morning... or rather... in less than 3 hours... But whatever.

Personal theory given the WTF ending of this episode which is also something I've been thinking about since episode 1 but thought it was too far fetched is...

That Great is not really seeing 4 minutes in the future but rather everytime he goes under some emotional shock he jumps into some parallel universe in which time is 4 minutes late.
What is happening is not linear.

The first accident that happened with Great and the 4 minutes was the death of the woman who committed suicide. In the first attempt, she got killed, in the second Great called for help... But whether she died or not had no consequence in his life ( Daddy's rich so whatever). Hence it's perfectly logic for him to think he saw 4 minutes ahead.

By the same token, when he met Thyme for the first time... whether he apologized or not had not real dramatic consequences. Still instilling in his and our mind that he is seeing 4 minutes ahead...

HOWEVER

When Dome gets killed, this is where the main story is going in all sorts of directions.
When we are with Tonkla and seeing what's happening through his eyes, we're seeing the timeline when Dome was indeed killed.

When Great saves Dome and hurt Title we are in the 4th timeline or 2nd if we count starting from the moment things got crazy.

There's a timeline where Thyme and Great have a fallout and another where the both of them got together but we cannot trust this series.

Each character shown has its own timeline and I'm also assuming that when it comes to Win, we've seen him with the timeline when Dome is killed but also in another when Tonkla is the one who has killed somebody... which would explain that even though at the beginning of episode 4, Tonkla's DNA is found, no action has been taken against him.

I checked but the name of Korn is definitely different than the name we hear at the beginning of episode 4 which hinted at it being Tonkla's.

Further reinforcing this theory, Win tells Tonkla that somebody from a prestigious background has made sure he's taken off the case...
But at the beginning of episode 4, he's still pretty much in charge and his boss is even asking for an update.

Hence I think in short that we currently have 2 main timelines with sub-timelines:

1. Tonkla's little brother Dome is dead. Win is taken off the case and Tonkla and Korn have a fallout because Korn's been out of reach while Tonkla was trying to cope with his brother's death. The main suspect is still unknown but I would guess that in this timeline the main suspect is Korn, Great or somebody related to both since Great was there when Title killed Dome. Anyway in that timeline Win and Tonkla are together. We don't know if Great and Thyme are involved in that one. So there's actually 2 possibilities.

1a: Nan is dead. My personal take is that starting from episode 5, Korn's timeline is going to be this one. Nan is dead. Why ? Because it is the messiest timeline for him and this author loves to torture her characters. In this timeline. His business is going to sh**, he's lost his boyfriend, and now Nan is dead. So Whose bodies are now by the river? Dome + Nan.

1b: Nan is alive. Korn still in deep sh** but way less than if she was dead.

2. Tonkla's little brother Dome is alive. Win is still in charge of the case but Tonkla and Korn are still together. The person who has been killed is Title and Tonkla is the murderer. He's killed Title because he was threatening his little brother. In this timeline, Tonkla is just calling regarding the case but both of them are not romantically involved. Thyme and Great are together.

The Great we see is currently in timeline number 2c imho:

2a: He and Thyme have a fallout because Thyme thinks he knows about Nan.

2b: Nan is dead. Korn's business is going to sh** and now Nan is dead. So Whose bodies are now by the river? Title + Nan. That makes two bodies both related to Tonkla. 1. Because Title is an asshole who threatened his brother and 2. Because Nan is related to his boyfriend's shady business. In this one Great and Thyme are obviously no longer together.

2c: Nan is alive and Great and Thyme are err having a "party" to celebrate before everything goes to sh***

I'm not really sure I've explained it clearly but the bottom line for me is we're seeing all of these characters at the same time but they all evolve on separate parallel timelines.
Also we've never seen Great with Dome since he brought him back to the hospital... The logical thing would have been for him to meet Tonkla as he visits his brother or at least call him but none of that was shown. Obviously that wouldn't work with Tonkla thinking his brother is dead. Everything is made to keep us confused... BUt the botom line is Great and Tonkla cannot interact (in the series) because we're seeing them in different timeline/universe whatever you wanna call it.

Then we have some "bridge" characters: Win and Korn. We've seen different "them" in all timelines. The Thyme we've seen is only the Thyme that evolves in the same timeline as Great...
But the Great WE follow is under the impression that he sees 4 minutes ahead when he is actually travelling from timeline to timeline. Obviously the main issue with this theory is that everybody has several versions except for Great... BUT if all the Greats always make their jumps at the same time they all obviously never meet.

Ok 3 hours until I have to "wake up"... Maybe I need some sleep.

But I'm trusting myself on this one.. I'm.... 80% sure my theory is right. Ok.
Maybe 70... 65%

Welp seeing JJ's wenis (yes I am a 46 year old woman that calls it a wenis lol) was not on my bingo card for this…
Ah yeah just got to that scene... They did it the "Richard Gere's way" so literally pretty hidden in the shadows. [given your age I'm assuming you've seen "Pretty Woman"... a far away time when Hollywood wasn't so stuck up on showing bodies ( which I personally find pretty funny... Now you don't see anything and yet it's way more sexualized all around but whatever].

This scene is supposed to be sort of emotional I guess, but my first thought was "Why didn't he put his pants back before coming out, mood's gone anyway."

...
...

Ok Scratch that. I guess Tonkla fills the emptiness he feels by behaving like a rabbit. Win should know better than profiting from somebody who is obviously in a very vulnerable place but I guess he's got his brain in his "manly apparatus" so whatever.

"6. Final theory. Thyme hired the hacker because he knows that his own parent's deaths is linked to this illegal casino... which would mean that Great's father is somewhat responsible for Thyme's parents' death and obviously Thyme doesn't know who Great's father is so... prepare your tissues."

Best thing on being on the less frequented thread: it's easy to find your older post... Now I don't have time to watch the full episode today... That's unfortunately for tomorrow, but I just wanted to flex a bit. We'll see to which extent this goes....

I don't understand why this show has been censored in China. I don't care what I'm reading in the comment section. Girls who wants to see BLs everywhere have a tendency to overanalyze everything. One time I read this comment by a Japanese BL author who was travelling in Europe and said she was intrigued by the relationship of two men travelling together. Seriously? Unless they're kissing or holding hands, don't put your delusional fantasies on people.

Anyway... this show is good but the blatant anti-Americanism and Chinese propaganda really irks me. I'm currently at Episode 27 ( or 54) and it's turning ridiculous.

Mostly disagree with the whole article. Long time K drama lover here. I started watching them in 2005 when the only way to watch any was to rely on downloading torrents from a website called d-addicts which provided engrish subs ( the website still exists btw, but torrents have been removed), at the time d-addicts provided Asian drama entertainment mostly from Japan, Taiwan and China but K dramas were by far the most popular. Than got to know the golden era of withs2 subs and other fansubbing teams who contributed a LOT to the birth and rise of specialized streaming websites such as Viki before Netflix and the rest decided to dive their toe in it.

The popularity of K dramas started way back with Winter Sonata in 2002 in Japan and from then on, it spread abroad. The beginning of the hallyu wave in Europe and North America can be traced back to My Girl and Goong which gave a huge boost to the genre, further reinforced by very popular dramas in subsequent years helped with the contribution of many long-forgotten fansubbing teams.

Nothing would have been possible without them and credits should be given when it's due. Same thing can be said for anime in Northern Europe. Though in my home country (France), anime have been popular since way back end of the 70s/ beginning of the 80s ( millenial talking here).

Old K dramas wouldn't fare well with modern audience because society changes and what appealed to audience in the past would probably irk most modern viewers now.
On the contrary Koreans have managed to adapt their series to modern audience hence their popularity.

The only two things I agree with is:

1. Specially tailored shows for Netflix or Disney +. One of the appeal of K dramas is their lack of seasons... Fortunately it's still a minority of shows but I hope it stays that way. I also find them more violent or containing content to appeal to what is considered popular to western audience... which is one of the reason I scarcely watch them in the first place.

2. Korea doesn't produce as much thrillers compared to the past... And here it's more of a trend than anything. Korea produces what fares well in terms of audience and that's it. With almost 20 years of K drama watching ( to be more clear, I've only started Thai dramas 4 years ago, and C dramas 2/3 years ago but I've been watching Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean dramas from way back as well as a couple of Thai movies) I've seen lots of trends.

Melos in the early 2000s, followed by Sageuks ( and I mean real ones not the fusion sageuk type that you see everywhere these days) used to be what fared better for various reasons which I won't detail because this post is already too long, followed by thrillers and now we've been stuck with rom coms for a while. It's not that other genres are not produced... but they get less audience so they're less produced. But it's actually fairly easy to find what you're looking for if you bother to look for it. Especially since you no longer have to fight your way to find subs since literally everything is translated as far as Korea is concerned.

It reflects more on what people are craving based on their external circumstances than a drop of quality from said content. When the news only tell you, your life is doomed, of course you want to relax with a good rom com.
Stories are tropey. Once you get past a certain age, you've literally seen everything. Every love story is the same love story. Every thriller has at its core the same story.

Appreciating K dramas doesn't mean you have to stick to it, but being in a k drama slump doesn't mean you have to disparage the whole genre altogether.

PS: RRR is a movie so err? Why is it listed here.
Dark was a good show... but I wouldn't watch it twice.
Friends? Seriously? Still don't understand the love for that show 1st: it's a sitcom. 2nd. There's literally 1000 seasons and some nonsensical plots per episode. Just like RRR I don't see exactly why it is used to compare. South Korea doesn't have lots of sitcoms but it does. Lets compare what can be compared shall we?
On Ready, Set, Love Aug 15, 2024
On Episode 1, reminds me of the Korean Dramas "Marrying a Millionaire". I remember the best part of this drama was the TV reality part and the ridiculous rivalry between women for the "price"... Unfortunately the show fell into the usual melodrama nightmare that was a stapple of k dramas in the early 2000s. Hopefully, with only 6 episodes, there won't be enough time for this here. So far the show is pretty colorful and fun to watch... also with a higher production value than most Thai dramas I've seen (thanks Netflix!). I personally don't watch reality TV but I've yet to find a single drama from any country that isn't fun when the premise is a reality show.

Great actor.

Dated the same actress for years, cheated, than instead of being courageous enough to assume the new relationship, stayed silent and got dumped.
That's karma for you. Good for Hye Ri, she now knows he didn't deserve her and can move on to greener pastures. And good for So Hee as well, this is a woman who knows her own value. She stood by him even when she discovered he lied because she loved him but he didn't support her in spite of putting her in that mess in the first place. Good riddance for both of them.

Now he's on his own... and everybody's seen he's a coward so... err He can do like Song Joon Ki and get a foreign wife/girlfriend who won't care about his public disgrace and scandals.

Personally don't care about actor's personal lives, as long as the dude isn't a rapist, a beater's wife, a pedophile or a murderer, are we supposed to care about their private lives? He's an actor not a god. He's a person with a very public job, that's it. People cheat and lie. Not a good thing for sure, but if people were fired every time they did something morally wrong, life would be unbearable.

You can recognize somebody's professional qualities and not like them for their shitty character. You don't live with him so why do you care? As an actor, he's among the best of his generation.

Anyway the comments regarding his looks are just 🤮🤮🤮
Can't believe what I'm reading from some people.

Narration is non-linear which makes its understanding a bit difficult... but at some point you get where things are going. Didn't like it but curious enough to see the following movie... It's action packed and full of interesting ideas ( WTF did they smoke seriously?)... but it illustrates why I tend to prefer watching dramas than movies... Had a hard time connecting with any of the characters (too many and no time to breathe because LOTS of things are happening ALL the time) and there's also one thing I truly loathe which is kids not listening to adults and causing problem to others through their own sheer stupidity. For once, it would be great to see kids being in trouble not because they're disobedient idiots but for valid reasons.

Anyway... There's budget and if you like the humor that's probably a hit... I can't say it's a bad movie... But I honestly didn't like it... Wasn't my taste, but if you want lots of action, a bit of humor, great sceneries and CGIs I think you'll have a good time.

7.5 for me and as I said... I don't think I'll like the follow-up but I'm curious enough to tune in. Glad I discovered these movies once both where out... I don't see myself rewatching this movie but I guess if you watched it when it came out, by the time the second movie was released, you'd probably have forgot most of the story.

Ah ok... I was just about to ask the same question.
I get people's political opinion but people have to remember that it's not because you have a certain nationality that you also condone the politics of your country. These are two separate things. the original writer could support the current genocide occurring in Palestine but they could also be in opposition to it. Who knows? If the people who rate this show 1 have proofs that the original writer support genocide, they should share it and let people decide if they want to support the show or not.

My thoughts exactly! It sounds way too serious but this was an awakening 😂 I'm in the process of learning to…
Yeah the struggle is real... Some people are good at fast forwarding but I personally can't. My personal rule is usually to wait until I've finished a third of a series to drop it (except for C dramas because they're way too long). So per this rule, I should have dropped this at the end of episode 3. Unfortunately, sometimes I do insist, and regret wasting my time. As I commented somewhere else, Life is too short to watch every single show you'd love so you shouldn't bother with shows that you don't enjoy.

Obviously I'm saying this and still when a majority of people love it, I tend to persist which is truly stupid. Most people who didn't like this show dropped it by the end of episode 2 or 3 and the only people left commenting are people who enjoyed it. So I kept on watching hoping it would get better.

Not dropping shows is a sickness.... but sometimes it's good to have dramas like this. It's a well-needed "no dropping sickness vaccine booster" when the first dose is starting to lose its efficiency。

My God this show was terrible. Should have trusted my instinct instead of waiting stupidly that it would get better following people's comments regarding the novel. What didn't help was that it aired at the same time as Sunset X Vibes and that one was even worse so this looked like it would be at least watchable in comparison.
What a mistake.

Best review by jreviews...

Though I still think that person's being too nice given the show was terrible from the start. Peat's acting is still awful though the poor dude's was not helped by the script. What's the use of chemistry and good NC scenes (only in the beginning because they probably thought it would be enough to keep people watching) if you can't deliver on the most important thing which is err... acting? No hate to the actor but so far he still can't act any heavy emotional scene, it's just cringe as hell. Isn't his agency supposed to get him acting classes? It's not like acting was particularly good from any of these actors but Peat's stood out as particularly bad. Anyway, I'm starting to think I actually mildly enjoyed Tharntype because it was one of my first Thai BL and thoroughly liked Love is in the Air because they were smart enough to make two short separate stories so MAME's flaws weren't as apparent.
This drama was too long for what it had to offer... but would probably have been good as a movie.

Should have trusted my instinct and dropped this earlier.

Side note 1: That tattoo looked too fake. No effort on the make-up department... but again. Same as this drama.

Side note 2: You're free to voice your love for the show, just like I am to voice my dislike. We can respect our diverging opinions without insulting each other.

Ok That's a wrap with a happy ending...
But I love how all the dead bodies at the beginning of episode 10 were just swept under the rug.
Literally the rich dude in the wheelchair died along with a couple of thugs and there's no consequences for our leads.. when the theater from I understand belongs to San's family. Where the hell is the police? Did these bodies vanish into thin air? Also, Rat's brother also got killed and yes, he was an asshole... But still nobody gives a fudge. NO-BO-DY when San was adamant not to shoot him in the first place... You would expect at least Chong who is Suchat and Rat's FATHER to shed a tear for his SON but nope! That's so out of character that it took me a bit out of it for a while.

I mean , we obviously don't care, but how come the rest of the family didn't even give him a proper send off?

Still loved the series. It's a strong 8.5 from me, though it had its flaws.
