I've watched the first two episodes. It's worth noting that my last BL drama was "My Stand-In", so I wasn't expecting…
Love this show... But the production value is lower compared to my Stand In. One 31 has produced interesting BLs plotwise for the past 2 years.... but they don't put in lots of money for them to look as good as other channels or production teams.
Actually the ML can be bisexual right and there are many bisexual people who are unable to realize their whole…
Hmm... I'm actually very interested in this discussion but haven't got the time to read the whole argument yet... But regarding the end of your message...
I'm personally flabbergasted by the number of people on MDL who are just homophobes sometimes disguising themselves as you wrote as "open minded". One day I was reading a comment by another MDL member which I found interesting. I checked their profile.... There was nothing in the description except for the fact that this member was from Turkey. I was surprised that on their "Recently watched" list there were of couple of thai BL. Knowing how homophobic the country is and just by sheer curiosity I went to check how much they had rated the BLs in question...
Turns out, that they has listed over 150 BLs all from Thailand... and all rated 1. There were a couple from Taiwan as well also rated 1, and a few K BLs also rated 1. They had listed over 500 shows but all the BLs were rated 1.
I obviously didn't bother to ask if they had really watched the BLs in question. What is exactly the point I wonder? But again... who am I to say. Maybe they think this will have an effect on the ratings of this series? All that hate wasted on such a stupid task makes me wonder if that person really has any brain cells left in that hateful head of theirs. Also you can be a homophobe and not indulge in such a stupid and vain endeavor. As you wrote they should just "live in their narrow, rigid bubble". I personally like the open air so I won't bother trying to interact nor convince these poor individuals unless they're family and I have a gay relative that needs some help. That's not even mentioning the occasional troll that comes on some thread just to post a homophobic or racist comment.
And yet, some of us get backlash from fellow members sometimes for just stating our negative opinion regarding a series without any hate nor for the actors nor for anyone. I wish people who gang up on MDL members with opinion running against the majority would spend that energy on homophobic idiots polluting threads.
Just my 2 cents (Not talking about you obviously, as mentioned haven't read the whole argument - nor do I want to get involved - just talking regarding the end of your post).
That's because she's half French if you check her bio.As a native French though, I can tell you she does have…
Nope check her bio... Also if she was british-thai, you can be sure they would have put a scene where she could flex her English instead of her French.
That's because she's half French if you check her bio.As a native French though, I can tell you she does have…
I wouldn't say "Quebec" but there's a little something there but again very discreet. If you listen to it again you're bound to notice... And yeah your wording is a bit confusing, the way you wrote I though the "cringe" referred to her language skill and not the acting part. My bad.
Bought the webtoon because everybody was raving about it... Too many volumes bought later I finally found the time to try to read it... WTF did I buy? Still 4 volumes left until I've completed the series so I keep on buying. Maybe I could sell them at a very good price in a couple of years. This whole series is sick. I'm all for "problematic stories" but I think Kinnporsche was my limit... This one is on whoooooooooooole other level of fuckery. If they ever adapt this... which I doubt. They're gonna vanilla it so much it will look like some other story.
The actress playing Meena is incredible for her age and I love Vie’s manipulative ass hahaha. Mook’s a bit…
That's because she's half French if you check her bio. As a native French though, I can tell you she does have a slight accent though I doubt a non-native French speaker would be able to notice.
Not liking the show... but not hating it either. It's gonna remain in the "meh category" for me given we're close to the end and it has barely stepped up compared to the island part. Probably would have dropped it if every episodes were available but it's an ok watch when you only watch one episode a week. But I might downrate it even more for Vivi and Khaimuk. I'm really pondering which of these two characters I hate more. I wish I was the type who skipped or fast forwarded scenes easily but I just can't. Ah yeah, Prin is cartoonishly evil as well so she's not even in the "love to hate" category. Basically all female characters except for the niece are terribly written.
I see...Is it a good movie? YesDid I like It? NODo I regret watching it? YESI shouldn't have read the "thriller"…
Also adding to the frustration... there's no way these kids have survived. They're dead and deceased but the real bullies in this story, the bully classmate as well as the disgusting piece of sh*** who is Yori's genitor are gonna keep on living their lives without any consequences unless the silent majority who turned a blind eyes ( which is unfortunately too realistic) i.e the classmates as well as the teachers who just don't care because they don't want problems will keep on finding excuses for their non-action and deny any form of responsibility while the only adults who cared are going to wallow in misery for the rest of their lives.
In movies, I like to have some form of social justice even if in reality there is none. This movie just leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. Next time, I watch a Japanese movie... I'm going to spoil myself big time to avoid spending two hours of utter misery.
I SO WANT TO GIVE THIS MOVIE A 1. But I can't because it's a good movie. It made me feel lots of things but not positive one and I HATE IT. So I'm gonna settle for a 7.
I see... Is it a good movie? Yes Did I like It? NO Do I regret watching it? YES
I shouldn't have read the "thriller" tag... I mistook this movie for something else. This is the type of character-driven story that Japan is so good at but which don't work for me most of the time... as a genre in itself... So I'm probably going to rate it 7 or 7.5 because I can't go lower. I understand the praise... but this movie is not for everyone. Also... It has that feel of " It's going to stay with me for a while" but... not for the good reasons. I like movies that make me think of them from time to time when it depicts positive things regarding human beings as a whole not when it is the opposite.
My God! San's niece is on a mission to embarrass her great great grand-father to no end. I'm experiencing second-hand embarrassment so bad... Poor dude. It's already complicated enough to accept his love has reincarnated into a man, let alone your niece telling everyone you had your first wet-dream in a hundred years with one 😅😅😅😅
EDIT 1: Trust me Vee, face is a matter of taste but that body of yours is fire.
EDIT 2: I'm sorry San... I understand your dilemma... but all your mental gymnastics to delulu yourself that Vee is not Wad is just hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Finally starting this... Didn't even need to check that some people involved with "To Sir with Love" were working on that show. The opening song: Sounds the same as "To Sir with Love" (Is it even a different song seriously?) Settings at the beginning of episode 1: Same as "To Sir with Love". It's been two years and I still remember the fake street and the theater settings... Didn't even bother to freshen up the background.
Oh well... I'm here for the story at the end of the day so it's okay but the story looks so fun on paper I wish they injected a bit more money so that it looked less cheap.
Anyway... Only 20 minutes in. Looks promising. But my forehead hurts for San. Everytime I hear the sound of his head hitting the pavement, it feels like it's me who's bleeding.
Wasn't particularly impressed with "Love in Translation" so I'm happy to see this story's got way more meat。 Also love Daou's military's haircut. Love it way better than his usual "k pop look", so there's that.
Really surprised. Just learned the news and.... yeah stupid of me... but I never imagined neither he nor Tul were gays ( or bisexuals whatever they are). I had this image of them being occasionally BL actors but not necessarily leaning this way. Anyway, wishing them the best. It's great actors in Thailand are now feeling confident enough and receive enough support from the public to admit publicly their sexual orientation... The marriage bill probably helps. But anyways, with public figures coming out, it's definitely going to help change people's perception regarding homosexuality as a whole. Also because both of them have such a "manly" look ( there's nothing wrong with having a smaller frame but you'd be surprised by the number of people who still believe gays are necessarily "effeminate" and yeah I'm sorry for the term used but I don't know how to express this better), it helps getting rid of tenacious clichés.
Anyway, I wish them both the best... though it's none of my business. Their private lives... But still happy for them.
The amount of second hand embarrassment from their lovey dovey scenes is too much 😭😭😭😭Waiting for…
My God YES! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I already took more than 1 hour 30 minutes watching episode 11... and I thought they couldn't top it off... But now on episode 12, it's even worse. I'm going to die laughing. Have to pose every two seconds.
Hmm...Beg to differ.I don't see it as lazy writing... It's more a matter of people's fantasies that never happen…
I guess in this series, they didn't sell it well enough for you to be convinced... Still...I don't think we're on a 9/10 ratio for K dramas these days... In the early 2000s definitely. But now it's not that much... I do agree it's overused though ( though I still like it 😎 )
Hmm...Beg to differ.I don't see it as lazy writing... It's more a matter of people's fantasies that never happen…
Oh come on'. Puppy love exist. got my first crush on a classmate at 8 years old. Kids fall in love. Of course it's not the same as teens but still...
EDIT: And you know they do...It's usually the boy who can't help but pester the girl he has a crush on. In most K dramas, the boy is nice to the girl... cuz we have to believe the little girl also likes him obviously... But in the real world, the boy is a tiny "bully" and he usually becomes one of the worst memory for the girl in question.
I wonder when kdrama writers will get rid of that ridiculous trope of "childhood friends-future lovers" thing.…
Hmm... Beg to differ. I don't see it as lazy writing... It's more a matter of people's fantasies that never happen in real life but you hope it did. Dunno how old you are, but when you get to my age '(late 30s)... the amount of missed opportunities for some of us is high. So it plays into that fantasy of reuniting with your first love, and fixing that lifelong regret of "if only I..."
Yes it's unrealistic... But at the same time most k dramas are. I mean we don't all look like models who happen to meet by chance some rich and handsome dude in the street who just happens to be single, nice, intelligent, dreamy, (occasionally not even realizing how great he is) with rock solid six packs and solely devoted to his one true love in spite of being surrounded by gorgeous girls ( ah yeah the heroine is supposed to be plain but is obviously beautiful but plain because she is so modest only the hero and his rival realizes how pretty she is... yadayadayada).
Romance is the go-to genre for something predictable. You don't watch a romance for the unexpected... you watch thrillers for that.
Kim Jung Hyun... I like you... But not enough to subject myself to another family drama. I've been burnt enough by the genre... But I wish you success.
I love reading comments of people predicting this is going to suck compared to the first season when nothing has been aired yet. I wouldn't even say anything if it was an open ending but let's be honest here... It was NOT an ending period.
Currently rewatching it for the first time. Strangely like it more the second time around than the first... so I rated it up to 10. But probably because I can now binge it whereas I watched it through its verryyyyy long 14 weeks run the first time. Best NC scenes out of all BL dramas I've watched, beautifully filmed without being too graphic. Cinematography is top notch.
I know everybody is raving about Vegas/Pete but my favorite pairing is still Kinn/Porsche.
Morally very gray but the actors sold it to me. I'm just sad we haven't seen the likes of it for the past 2 years... Expecting good things from 4 minutes but can't wait to see Shine next year.
Be On Clouds always deliver.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I just LOVE Big's haircut. Best haircut in the whole drama. Fits the actor's face to a T.
EDIT 2: Ah yeah... Kinn/Porsche is something but I had forgotten how sick the Vegas/ Pete ship was... To really enjoy this series, the best thing is let your moral values at the door and just understand this is a twisted world were the "normality" is just madness. Otherwise there's just too many problematic things to get through. The casting is just perfect because it just works. I don't think it would have been that effective with less charismatic actors.
