Dunno if this film is genuinely better than the first one or because it's been years since I last saw the first movie and even the 1st two seasons of the anime ( haven't finished it yet) but I liked this movie better.
Still didn't like it though. It's silly and over the top and I knew what I was getting in but just like in the first movie, I wish they had toned down Fujiwara Chika for the live action because I just think her air-headedness just doesn't fit the medium. She ruined the first movie for me... and she ruined that one as well.
No hate towards the actress. In fact she's playing the character perfectly but I wish again she'd been toned down because for me it works in an anime but not a live action. Even Iino Miko despite engaging in the same silliness is less irritating...
Still pondering between a between a 5 and 6... But would probably had been higher without Chika.

Si t'as pas aimé les 5 premiers épisodes... Je peux déjà te garantir que tu vas galérer sur les suivant... Peat est toujours aussi nul question scènes émotionnelles donc voilà... Je t'ai prévenue. I honestly don't care how people enjoy the drama. I'm just saying some people are going to look for something they won't find because it's not there apart from people who "see beyond" as you're hinting at but again it's more a matter of I'll see what I want to see. As for the rest, yes it's censored. That's the whole point of censoring so why was it still removed. That's were is my question. For the rest I'm not arguing with anybody. I'm just saying I disagree that's it. No need to argue further.
Dropped after 3 episodes. Looks like a lot of American shows in the same genre: Great CGIs but without any soul. Also hints at a 3rd season which will never come (spoiled myself the second part/season to see if it would get better) ... Anyway dissapointing. If you're a fan of the horror genre with some mysterious atmosphere, Watch Revenant or The Guest. Way WAY ABOVE that one.
This being said Lee Da Hee and Cha Eun Woo's stylists deserve a raise. They both look amazing. Too bad the drama is just "meh".
While there are certainly some dramas with low ratings on MDL that I consider really good, I completely agree…
Well I'm kidding obviously but to each one their own. My personal take however is, why would I subject myself to torture when others have already gone through it and warned me ^^? The only drama I enjoyed that had "low ratings" was "Tonhon Chonlatee" (ratings 6.9 on MDL). To this day I still wonder why the ratings is so low... But it is basically the exception.
You do enjoy pain. I've seen some dreadful shows on MDL which rating were above 7.5 sometimes even above 8. So usually I'd say that ratings on MDL are pretty generous. If it falls below 7 on MDL, you know it's not bad... It's awful. Ratings on Viki are even more generous so anything below 8.5 there is really not worth it. I haven't seen a single drama from this list and will never bother. I'm not into sadomasochism.
I haven't seen that movie yet but yeah... I doubt it will be him... It could also be somebody who has worked with the same director before... Seo In Guk for instance worked twice with that director and one of his project was with So Min... but I didn't recognize his back in that scene so I'm not really sure.
It's probably going to be a former co-star of hers. I'm hoping Lee Joon because I loved "My Father is Strange" and they did go out together for a couple of years following this drama... but they've broken up since so I doubt it will happen.
I used to be pretty much like her ^^Most people liked me but sometimes I would come across some people who hated…
I totally get it but he also developed his own armor. He's got a way with words. I don't know if you've noticed but she is indeed a bit too chaotic but he on the other side is pretty sarcastic all the time. When she answers with some sarcasm it is usually in response to his sarcasm... which sometimes borders on hurtful. In fact there's a couple of scenes in both episode 1 and 2 when you can see he crossed the line, there's a slight reaction where you can see he hurt her but than she hides it by some additional banter or brushes it off like it's nothing. She justacts like it doesn't hurt her but you can see it does.
They obviously have their own dynamic. If he was really hurt by her, you can be sure he would avoid her like the plague and yet he doesn't. She's all over the place but she doesn't say things such as " I couldn't care less about what you did or didn't do" - I mean... err She's not saying things which are truly hurtful, but he on the other hand has done it several times.
Also do you truly think she can do anything with that body of hers? He's a man, no matter how skinny he is, he's still stronger and faster than her. If he wanted he could avoid her mother and all her grabing.
I used to be pretty much like her ^^Most people liked me but sometimes I would come across some people who hated me without any reason... Can't help it. Sometimes you just have a personality that rubs people the wrong way. I'm enjoying their dynamic but I can understand that might make the show less enjoyable for people who don't like that type of overly spontaneous and chaotic person.
Also the child actress is just too cute for words. She nailed it.
I don't think Nan is the second body found by the water because if I remember correctly the second body was also…
See what I mean? Also... Thai is a very veryyyyyyyyyyy veryyyyyyyyy ambiguous language that leaves a lot to interpretation and context. Basically to fit English, you do need to slightly "overtranslate" so until everything is clarified... I'm going to keep my doubts.
I might be misunderstanding your comment, so please do let me know if that's the case. This show is based on a…
Yeah I understand it's based on a BL. It's not the shipping I'm talking about. My take is there is NOTHING in this drama that hints at more than just bromance.
I had the same issue with the drama "Word of Honor" where everybody was raving about the BL aspects of the show when there was literally none in my opinion. I'm just going to quote my own review regarding my feeling for that show which people said the BL aspects was "explicit":
"Though I have to mention that given China's censorship, I wasn't expecting anything from the BL aspect no matter how much people lauded the BL aspect of this show. I'm glad I did because, the few flirtatious lines felt more like two friends teasing each other than anything else which is 100% ok btw, I don't see the problem. My problem is people advertising this show as one the greatest BL of all time when there's just two friends teasing each other. On that front, I'm sure I'm part of the minority since everybody's saying the flirting is pretty explicit... which is true... But I don't know maybe its because I'm French. I personally consider such teasing pretty average. It's more a matter of interpretation than anything else. If you take them seriously it's flirting. If you don't, it's just teasing each other by pretending your relation is really really close... which I've seen many of my perfectly heterosexual male friends do. There's this mention of "soulmate"... But very early on, it's established that it doesn't necessarily mean in a romantic way so here."
In Spirealm, we don't even get flirting to that degree. There's nothing. Now I still have 9 episodes left ( or 18) so maybe in subsequent episodes - but I doubt it - the BL aspect will more prevalent. It just feels to me that BL fans here wants to see BL when there's literally nothing. In fact I didn't know this was a censored BL until way past the middle point of this drama when I learned by chance reading one of the comment that it had been censored in China.
And I was like WHAT? How much more censored should it be to pass the censorship because there's NOTHING to see here . NADA. NIET. ZERO. Caring for somebody doesn't mean you have romantic feelings for said person. So again, to me, it's more people wanting to see what they want instead of just plainly watching the show for what it is.
I'm 95% sure that if nobody knew this drama was an adaptation from a BL novel, we wouln't even spend one second talking about this subject.
Seems like Seung Hyo's mother is regretting having placed her career first instead of her child and now she's experiencing some form of jealousy towards Seok Ryu's mother because she is obviously closer to her son than her... What's done is done though... You can't build again what hasn't been done in childhood. Your son is too busy now to form as strong a bond as you should have had when he was young. Obviously her husband doesn't have the same sentiment. This is a typical case of people who shouldn't have had kids or should have had their kids later when they careers were well established.
Having a kid when your priority is your career means your child is going to be neglected. Fortunately Seung Hyo is pretty well grounded given he was lucky to be taken care of by Seok Ryu's mom.
I get Seok Ryu's mom's position regarding her daughter but I can make the parallel with my own mom who basically had the same trajectory except that my mom keeps on telling me that I worked enough and that it's time I learned to rest. Of course, I'm not Korean and competitiveness and bragging about your children's success is not seen as a good thing where I live. Having happy kids is seen as the achievement more than them having successful carreers. What's the point if they're unhappy, unable to rest and have fun with the money they earned?
But she's not wrong in saying that life is tough and everybody has it hard... However, your parents are supposed to be your safe place. Sometimes life beats you up and you do need a break. I personally quit a well-paid job as a civil servant where I had more than a 10 years carreer less than 2 years ago. My father was going crazy about it, even though I had been talking about it for years... But my mom supported me in my choice. I had been so unhappy for so many years, she's seen me at my worst, and the only thing that made me hang in there was the fact that I knew I would quit at some point.
Problem is I'm still living on my savings ( which were pretty ok... had it not been for a tiny problem called... inflation) and I couldn't go live with my parents like Seok Ryu, because they live 10 000 km away in an area where there's literally no jobs to find. This being said I don't regret my choice. It's a bit of a rough patch trying to figure how to navigate your life when you start over at almost 40 but it's better than being in a standstill in a situation that just make you utterly unhappy, and stressed. Some of my colleagues had been working taking anti-depressants for years and I swore to myself I would quit before it got to that point, which I did.
Rooting for Seok Ryu all the way! I get you girl! I've been there ^^ Though obviously, my path is probably going to be more rough than yours but life is a fight and sometimes you need a break to get back on your feet.
Well the whole main plot has no sense at all, but some of the mini-plots (each door) has some good subplots like…
Agree with you. The sub-plots are fun but the main plot is ridiculous. The awful capitalists in America have perverted a nice game into something evil which perverts young people's mind and optionally kills its players... And once you start the game you can't stop playing it.
What's the point exactly I wonder? A capitalist country's mission is to make money. What's the point of creating a game which you can keep on playing (whether you want it or not): 1 . Without paying 2. That kills you
Isn't the ultimate goal to make money? Can you make money out of dead players? Or maybe the evil aim of the USA is to exterminate the Chinese population by making them play this awful game. But in that case, the evil mastermind that sends free copies to everyone should have no problems getting money from the evil American investors. No matter how you turn it, this is just plain stoopid.
I'm 18 episodes from the end ( or 9) and the more it advances the more it's nonsensical. I'm still enjoying the show.. I've just decided to shrug off all the nonsense outside the game as just very basic and badly written anti-Americanism. Wouldn't be the first time.
I mean, I was confused...they were childhood friends so how were they not in touch...how did she not know what…
Yeah sure. But you wouldn't catch me dead using any form of social app. I know it's social suicide in our modern society but I've got my reasons which I won't develop here but the bottom line is that as far as I'm concerned the downside outweighs the upside of using them. However my answer was just specifically directed towards what you wrote:
"how did she not know what was he doing or how did he not know she was getting married before her mom told him ... Did they loose touch, well!! It didn't look like that when they came across each other...they didn't look awkward or anything"
As I explained, it's not because you haven't seen each other for years or don't know what the other's been up to, that you have to be awkward when you see each other again.
I don't know if that's the case here obviously... There's probably a bigger reason because it's a k-drama but in real life, I understand most people use social app to keep in touch or secretly "stalk" other people ( I'm kidding here obviously but one of my aunt who is 66 is on ALL socials but never interact, yet she spends hours on it. When I asked her why she was wasting her time, she told me she was there to stalk other people's page and for the tea 🙄🙄🙄 )
BUT, the silent minority, of which I'm part of, don't use these app and don't find the situation of both main characters, who from what I gather are in their late 20s, early 30s, particularly surprising or unatural.
I mean, I was confused...they were childhood friends so how were they not in touch...how did she not know what…
Err Don't personally find it awkward. I'm in my late 30s and I've lost lots of friends through sheer distance. At some point it gets tedious to keep in touch with everybody so you just no longer bother. Doesn't mean there was a grand event that led to said separation. People are busy with their lives, so if you don't bother, they don't bother and vice versa. In recent years, I've seen some friends I hadn't seen nor kept in touch for YEARS ( worse was 15) . Some of them were just going to my city, remembered my number or mail address and called me so we could catch up and yes. There was nothing awkward about it. That's just life.
And in my case for the record, I hate social networks so I don't even have instagram or Facebook, so when I say, we didn't keep in touch, we really didn't.
Still didn't like it though.
